Chapter 184 Encounter
At three in the afternoon.
Elizabeth went to the hospital with gifts.
Emma heard someone knocking on the door. She went to open it, and the moment she saw Elizabeth, the smile on her face instantly disappeared. "Oh, it's Mrs. Sherman."
Elizabeth didn't expect to run into Emma. She nodded, "I'm here to see Freya."
Emma actually didn't want Elizabeth to see Freya and Russell too often.
Freya was leaning against the hospital bed. When Emma saw it was Elizabeth, she said gently, "Emma, let our guest in."
Emma stepped aside.
Elizabeth walked in with a smile.
After entering, she discovered there were two children in the room, and she had a vague guess in her heart.
Elizabeth placed the gifts on the table and asked, "Freya, how are you feeling today?"
"It's an old problem. I'm really sorry for what happened at the party."
Freya actually did feel embarrassed.
Elizabeth comforted her warmly, "We at the Sherman family are very happy that you came to the party."
"Have a seat and chat?" Freya said gently to Jane and Tommy, "Jane, Tommy, come here and say hello to Ms. Penrose."
When Elizabeth heard the name Jane, she guessed this was the baby from five years ago.
Her feelings were complicated.
Elizabeth pulled over a chair and sat down.
Tommy and Jane politely greeted her, and Elizabeth nodded and smiled back.
Emma's eyes flickered slightly. She smiled and spoke intimately with Freya, "Godmother, what fruit would you like? I'll peel it for you."
"An apple," Freya reminded her to be careful while peeling, "Don't cut your hand with the knife."
Emma nodded, "Okay, godmother, I'm not a child." Emma suddenly looked up and asked Elizabeth, "Mrs. Sherman, shall I peel an apple for you too?"
"No need, thank you." Elizabeth replied politely.
From the way Freya spoke to Emma, Elizabeth could clearly sense that Freya genuinely cared about Emma.
Freya was holding a portrait. She showed it to Elizabeth, "Does it look like me? Emma drew this portrait."
Emma looked up with a smile and asked, "Mrs. Sherman, have you studied painting?"
Don't comment randomly if you don't know anything, or you'll embarrass yourself.
"No." Elizabeth shrugged indifferently, "I never had the chance to learn painting before, but since Freya asked, I'll answer honestly. This painting is actually not very good."
Emma and Freya fell silent.
Freya wasn't angry. Instead, she smiled and asked, "What's not good about it?"
Freya had learned painting since childhood, so of course she could see what wasn't good.
Elizabeth looked carefully at the portrait in Freya's hand again and thought for a moment, "Ms. Sutter's portrait looks very much like Freya, but the emotional aspect isn't expressed. For example, the expression looks a bit stiff, and the eyes look a bit dull."
Emma had already stopped peeling the apple.
Anger rose in her heart.
Freya laughed lightly with amusement, "It's a shame Mrs. Sherman doesn't study painting. You have great insight."
Emma also smiled, "Mrs. Sherman is really impressive." She said helplessly, "I drew this portrait quickly just to amuse the children."
Elizabeth smiled without responding. After delivering her gift and sitting for a while, she said goodbye and left the hospital.
Freya watched Elizabeth's departing figure, then turned to chat casually with Emma, "Mrs. Sherman looks a bit familiar."
Emma was still holding the fruit knife. When she heard Freya say this, her hand holding the knife became unsteady, and she cut her finger, crying out in pain.
Emma put down the knife and looked at her finger that was instantly bleeding.
"Child, how could you be so careless." Freya quickly pressed the call button for a nurse.
"Godmother, it's just a small injury." Emma smiled ingratiatingly.
Seeing that Emma had cut her hand, Jane and Tommy ran over to comfort her.
"Mommy, it doesn't hurt, blow blow." Jane blew on Emma's finger.
Freya looked at the three of them helplessly but with a smile.
What a shame. If Timothy hadn't done all that for a woman, maybe Emma would have been very happy.
Before, Freya was afraid of hurting Emma's feelings, so she didn't ask much about who the woman Timothy was doing it all for.
Now that five years had passed, after the nurse came to bandage Emma's wound, Freya finally asked, "Emma, Timothy..."
As soon as Freya mentioned Timothy's name, Tommy and Jane both looked up at Freya.
Freya put her hand to her forehead. Tommy and Jane were still here, she couldn't bring it up.
Emma knew what Freya wanted to ask, but Emma didn't plan to talk about it now.
The most important thing now was that Freya had just mentioned Elizabeth looked familiar.
Emma needed to find a way to do a paternity test between Elizabeth and Freya first.
Emma lowered her eyes, hiding the deep thought in them.
At that moment, also in the same hospital as Freya was Mindy.
Mindy was crying non-stop. Her left leg was ruined, and she would have to walk with a crutch from now on.
How could she possibly endure such a thing?
"Grandma, it's all because of Elizabeth. Elizabeth has hurt the Johnson family so badly." Mindy wailed, tears flowing freely.
Cecilia endured listening to Mindy's wailing and said sternly, "Shut up! You should have stayed in Silverlight City. What were you doing coming to Border Ridge City? Coming here was one thing, but then you went and provoked Timothy. You're really as stupid as a pig!"
Mindy was stunned, then cried even louder, "Grandma, why are you scolding me? The Johnson family is in this state because of Elizabeth. I just went to scold her a few times, what's wrong with that?"
Seeing that Mindy was still being stubborn, Cecilia's chest hurt.
Just then, the hospital room door opened.
A thin man walked in.
Armando had heard Mindy's wailing from outside in the hallway.
"Armando is here." Cecilia rubbed her temples.
Cecilia also hated Elizabeth, but at least she was still rational.
To deal with Elizabeth, they must not let Timothy notice.
Armando looked at Mindy expressionlessly, then turned to Cecilia and said, "Grandma, I'm sorry. I'll take Mindy back to Silverlight City tomorrow."
Armando had just run into Elizabeth downstairs at the hospital.
