Chapter 404: Making Seraphina Heartbroken
Sloane called Cecilia. "Grandma, Elizabeth's daughter Seraphina is getting married on September 2nd. I'm thinking of having Jane get close to Seraphina's boyfriend."
"That's a great idea. It'll also make Elizabeth and Timothy uncomfortable. I'll call Jane later to check on her." Cecilia then asked Sloane about trying for a baby. "Are you and Tommy ready?"
Sloane nodded. "Yes."
"You've been working hard lately."
Cecilia hung up feeling relieved and dialed Jane's number.
"Jane, are you three doing okay?" Cecilia's voice was warm and caring.
Hearing Cecilia's concerned voice, Jane said sweetly, "Grandma, don't worry, we're all fine. When I have time, I'll come visit you in Sylvanor."
"Good, I'll be waiting. By the way, find time to visit your mother's grave and let her see how you're doing." Cecilia sighed. "Your mother loved the wrong person in her life. I hope your relationships all go smoothly."
In Jane's heart, she always believed that Elizabeth and Seraphina had caused her mother Emma's death and stolen her father Timothy.
Jane stubbornly refused to believe that Timothy wasn't her father.
So when Cecilia mentioned her late mother Emma, the resentment that had built up in Jane's heart was stirred up again.
"Grandma, we'll pick a good day to visit our mother," Jane's voice sounded a bit down. "Mom was so pitiful back then. Grandma, did you know that Elizabeth's daughter Seraphina is getting married?"
From Jane's voice over the phone, Cecilia could sense her low mood.
Cecilia smiled and said gently, "Your mother just loved the wrong person, but she had no regrets about giving birth to you all. Jane, don't let yourself live in hatred."
"Grandma, I understand." Jane suppressed her anger. She wouldn't let them have it easy.
After hanging up, Jane's eyes turned cold as she gripped her phone tightly.
She would make sure Seraphina and Stefan's wedding wouldn't go smoothly!
Jane already knew what to do. She called Grace.
When Grace heard Jane's plan, she was completely stunned.
Jane was determined to make Seraphina heartbroken.
"Mommy, how does this wedding dress look?" Seraphina stood in front of the mirror.
"It looks beautiful." Elizabeth looked carefully.
She gazed at Seraphina in the wedding dress with a gentle smile.
Brandon nodded along. "Seraphina looks pretty."
Seraphina cupped Brandon's little bald head, kissed it several times, and laughed with her hand over her mouth.
With her figure, wedding dresses didn't look great on her, but hearing her family's praise still made her happy.
Brandon happily covered his kissed head.
Today was her wedding dress fitting day.
The wedding dress team had brought the dresses to the house for Seraphina to try on.
Their wedding timeline was a bit rushed, so the custom dress designs were relatively simple.
Seraphina tried on several styles and finally chose three wedding dresses. After the wedding dress team left, Seraphina breathed a sigh of relief.
"I didn't expect trying on wedding dresses would be so tiring."
Elizabeth felt the same way. She gently stroked Seraphina's hair. "It's worth being tired."
Seraphina smiled. She checked the time - there was still time to go to the office and work. "Mommy, I need to go to the office. I have a pile of things waiting for me to handle."
Elizabeth hadn't expected Seraphina to work even harder than herself.
Seraphina was clearly a workaholic.
Seraphina went to work.
Elizabeth took Brandon downstairs.
Brandon quickly ran on his short legs to hug Timothy's thigh. "Daddy, I love you so much. Can you take me out to play?"
Timothy looked down at Brandon hugging his leg.
"Daddy, I really love you." Brandon's face was written all over with "I love you so much, please take me out."
A flash of amusement crossed Timothy's eyes. "Go change your clothes first."
Brandon's eyes lit up as he nodded. "Okay!"
After Brandon went upstairs, Timothy handed his phone to Elizabeth.
"This is a message Joe just sent. Herschel and Juniper had an argument."
Elizabeth took the phone and read the complete message.
When Freya came to see her, Elizabeth had Timothy send someone to keep an eye on Herschel and the others, just in case something got out of control.
After reading the message, Elizabeth returned the phone to Timothy and sneered, "Freya is not someone who takes losses. How could she easily let go of someone who approached her with ulterior motives?"
Why did Herschel argue with Juniper?
It was because yesterday afternoon at the office, he received an anonymous recording.
The moment he heard the recording, he was struck as if by lightning, too shocked to speak.
In the recording, Juniper's voice carried a sharp and vicious tone as she talked behind Freya's back with cold mockery. All of Juniper's pretense had been for the shares.
Gino, the son Herschel had always been so proud of, also showed such an impatient attitude toward Freya behind her back.
Herschel heard Gino complaining about how troublesome it was to visit Freya at the hospital every week.
Herschel's hands trembled slightly. He could hardly believe his ears.
The truth was like a bucket of cold water poured over his head, leaving him disappointed.
At that moment, at The Nightingale Mansion.
When Juniper heard Herschel say he would return the shares Freya had given them back to her.
Juniper completely lost control.
She angrily picked up a vase and smashed it hard on the floor, the sound of shattering porcelain echoing through the room.
"She's dying soon, why do you need to return the shares to her? All these years, I've been coaxing her, keeping her company. Those shares should be ours!" Juniper's voice was shrill, full of anger and resentment.
She was almost crying. "I've done so much, who was it all for? For our family!"
Her words carried deep grievance and dissatisfaction.
Why didn't Herschel understand her?
Herschel knew Juniper was doing this to become the true mistress of the Nightingale Group, and also for the family, so he couldn't say anything harsh.
Herschel tried to keep his tone calm. "Juniper, Freya and Russell are like parents who gave me a second life. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today. And Russell gave me shares back then too."
Juniper said coldly, "I don't agree. Don't you know how difficult Freya is to deal with? I've put up with her for so many years. What's wrong with getting this compensation? She's dying - can she still hold onto those shares? I just don't want the shares to go back to Elizabeth."
After all, Elizabeth was the legally recognized first heir.
Herschel rubbed his temples and sighed. "Juniper, calm down and think about it. I'm going to the hospital to see Freya."
Yesterday, Freya had anonymously sent the recording to Herschel.
She wanted to know what Herschel would do after learning about Juniper and Gino's true thoughts.
Freya kept wondering whether Herschel was also being nice to her just for the shares in her hands.
Sometimes she just liked to overthink things, and thinking about it kept her up all night.
This made her feel dizzy and lightheaded when she woke up in the morning.
The doctor was examining Freya's condition in the hospital room.
He stood by the bed and advised, "Mrs. Nightingale, have you been unable to relax lately? No matter what happens, you need to try to stay calm. That's the only way your health will improve."
