Chapter 301 Disobedience Will Be Punished!
"I don't know who sent those people."
Elmer clutched the spot where he'd just been hit, moaning in pain. His expression was pained but carried a hint of wariness.
Elmer wasn't stupid enough to tell people from Seraphina Enterprises about Hugo.
To Elmer, saying anything would be like betraying himself.
Jacob stood to the side with a smile. "Well, if Mr. Roach doesn't know who sent people to beat you up, that's fine. After all, you're the one who got beaten, not me. I came to see you today mainly to discuss compensation for the fire."
At the mention of "compensation," Elmer's wailing stopped abruptly.
A flash of greed crossed his eyes as he quickly swallowed. "How much is your company planning to compensate me?"
Jacob smiled slightly, knowing this topic had caught Elmer's interest.
"We're still evaluating the exact compensation amount, but I can guarantee it'll be a satisfactory sum."
Jacob deliberately paused, then continued, "Of course, to get the compensation, you'll need to cooperate with us."
Elmer frowned. "What cooperation? Your product caused the fire at our house, and my dad got burned to death. It's your fault to begin with, so compensation is normal."
Jacob smiled harmlessly. "Of course. Our company will make sure you get the compensation you deserve. We're just asking you not to talk nonsense to the media."
Elmer smiled with relief. That was easy. "No problem, I promise I won't say anything wrong."
Jacob nodded with satisfaction. "The day after tomorrow, our company will contact you about the compensation. As for those guys in the corner who beat you up, they're looking for you, not us. It has nothing to do with us. You deal with it yourself."
Jacob felt the conversation had gone very smoothly.
After saying this, he signaled for his people to release the men who had just beaten Elmer, then quickly left the room.
Elmer was instantly stunned, his pupils widening in shock. "Wait, you can't just leave like this."
He hurried to follow them out of the room, but unfortunately, he was grabbed back by those men.
Tied up tight, with tape over his mouth.
Those men looked at Elmer with cold smiles, unconcerned by his struggling.
One of the men took out his phone and made a call. "Boss, people from Seraphina Enterprises just saw us beating Elmer, but they didn't interfere and don't know whose people we are."
The man on the phone glanced at Elmer and held the phone to Elmer's ear.
Elmer heard Hugo's voice.
'Hugo' snorted coldly. "Elmer, you dared to threaten me. This is what you get."
Jacob grinned as he imitated Hugo's voice to make threats.
He really was a jack-of-all-trades. His boss would definitely praise him.
He hung up the phone.
Elmer cursed Hugo in his heart for going back on his word!
Elmer was suddenly covered with a burlap sack, but he could still hear what the people outside were saying.
"Let's go. Shit, I almost thought we couldn't complete the mission just now. Take him to the beach and throw him in the sea to feed the fish, just like the boss said."
Elmer never expected Hugo to be so ruthless, actually wanting to throw him into the sea!
Hugo was trying to kill him!
At this moment, Elmer regretted it. He should have told the people from Seraphina Enterprises about Hugo!
But now, trapped in the burlap sack, regret was useless. He couldn't break free at all.
Jacob sat in the car, watching as Elmer was stuffed in the sack and thrown into the vehicle.
Jacob cleared his throat and seriously dialed Elizabeth's number.
He needed to report his progress to Elizabeth.
He would pretend to rescue Elmer only when he was about to drown.
The call connected, and Elizabeth's cool voice came through. "Hello, Mr. Grant. Any progress?"
Jacob briefly reported the current situation.
Elizabeth listened and nodded, her tone softening a bit. "Mr. Grant, your method is very good."
Though Jacob had failed in his pursuit of Elizabeth, hearing her praise still made him feel a bit embarrassed.
After finishing their business discussion and hanging up, Jacob said to the driver, "Follow the car ahead. We're going to the beach."
Elizabeth placed her phone on the bathroom counter.
She held a pair of scissors in her hand, gesturing over Timothy's head, figuring out where to start.
Timothy was filled with regret at this moment. He should have gone to the barbershop first today.
"Mr. Robinson, don't worry. Men's hair is actually easy to cut," Elizabeth had always been confident in her self-taught haircutting skills. "I used to cut Quinton's hair all the time. Back then we didn't have money to go to salons."
Timothy tried to stay calm, forcing a smile. "Then I'll leave it to you."
Elizabeth agreed. She focused on gesturing for a while, then started cutting his hair.
Timothy could only silently pray that the result would be acceptable.
His expectations weren't high, really.
About half an hour passed.
Elizabeth carefully trimmed Timothy's hair, but no matter how she cut it, she wasn't satisfied.
Looking at her work, she laughed dryly. "Let's go to a salon tomorrow."
Timothy's mouth twitched slightly. He stood up and looked at himself in the mirror.
His hair was cut unevenly.
He looked at Elizabeth through the mirror with a half-smile. "Men's hair is actually easy to cut?"
Elizabeth laughed dryly twice, trying to hide her embarrassment. "It's been too long since I last cut hair. I'm out of practice. Sorry."
Timothy sighed inwardly. Whatever, it's just hair, not important.
He reached out and gently patted her head, saying softly, "Elizabeth, thanks for your hard work tonight. You go take a shower, I'll clean up the bathroom."
Elizabeth touched her nose, sneaking a peek at his hair, feeling even more embarrassed.
"Okay, I'll go shower."
With that, she quickly slipped out, afraid Timothy would notice how guilty she felt.
Timothy watched her retreating figure and smiled helplessly.
He took off the rain poncho and started cleaning the bathroom.
Elizabeth went to the next room to shower. The warm water helped her relax considerably.
When she returned to the master bedroom after showering, she found Timothy already washed and waiting for her, leaning against the headboard.
She obediently climbed into bed and lay down.
Timothy also lay down, reaching out to hold her in his arms. His lips touched her forehead as he said softly, "Let's sleep."
Elizabeth felt the warmth on her forehead. She closed her eyes and replied softly, "Okay."
Elizabeth never slept soundly at night, waking up from time to time.
Whenever she woke up startled, Timothy would hold her tighter.
It wasn't until nearly dawn that Elizabeth finally fell into a somewhat peaceful sleep in Timothy's arms.
At the break of dawn.
In a small mountain village.
Seraphina, sleeping on the kitchen floor, was woken by her constantly growling stomach.
She rubbed her eyes, touched her belly, and got up from the floor.
She stood up shakily and walked toward the water jar in the corner of the kitchen.
The water jar in the kitchen was much taller than her, several heads taller.
She carefully moved a chair next to the water jar.
Gripping the chair with both hands, she pushed off with her feet and slowly climbed onto it.
With half her body hanging over the edge of the jar, she struggled to reach in and scoop water.
Seraphina finally managed to scoop a small ladle. She eagerly drank several mouthfuls.
She drank until her belly was full and bloated with water.
Since Milan and Zara had money in their hands, they slept much more soundly and didn't need to get up early for work anymore.
Their only son, Mason, usually woke up around eight o'clock.
"Mom, I'm hungry!" Mason knocked on the door loudly.
Milan was woken by Mason's knocking. She frowned without even opening her eyes and cursed, "Go cook something yourself in the kitchen. If you keep making noise, I'll come out and beat you to death!"
Hearing Milan's angry roar, Mason quickly shut his mouth, not daring to make another sound.
Milan had a violent temper and would really hit him.
In the kitchen, Seraphina heard Milan's cursing and quickly shrank into a corner, scared.
Her small body trembled involuntarily.
Before long, she heard footsteps approaching the kitchen.
Seraphina's eyes widened as she looked toward the kitchen doorway. Mason's figure appeared there.
Mason walked into the kitchen, his gaze sweeping around until he spotted Seraphina huddled in the corner.
An impatient expression crossed his face. He waved his fist and cursed fiercely, "Ugly freak! Go cook something!"
Seraphina bit her lip and didn't move.
Her small body wanted to shrink into the wall itself.
She didn't know how to cook.
Seeing Seraphina disobey, Mason walked over and kicked her. "Go cook! I'll hit you if you don't listen!"
Seraphina still didn't make a sound, tears streaming down continuously.
Seeing she wouldn't move, Mason cursed under his breath and went to start a fire to cook porridge himself.
