Chapter 221 Inappropriate

Chapter 221 Inappropriate

Emma put down her soup bowl, let out a gentle sigh, hesitated for a moment, and said, "Godmother, I do know some things about Elizabeth, but the information might not be completely accurate."

Freya nodded, "Go ahead and tell me, I'm listening."

Emma spoke slowly, "Elizabeth was sent to an orphanage by her mother when she was little."

"Later, her mother married into the Howard family. The Howard family still had some assets back then, so her mother brought her back from the orphanage to the Howard family."

Freya frowned in confusion, her tone carrying a hint of disbelief, "How could her mother be so heartless? To actually send a child to an orphanage."

Emma's eyes flickered slightly, and a complex expression crossed her face.

She deliberately mentioned these pitiful things first to set the stage for saying bad things later.

Emma deliberately speculated, "Elizabeth's mother must have had no choice. Later, when her mother remarried and had a new family, she brought her back."

Freya shook her head, very disapproving, "Even so, she shouldn't have sent the child to an orphanage."

Emma nodded along, then continued, "After graduation, Elizabeth became Armando's secretary. She later married Armando, and I heard she used some kind of scheme."

Emma paused here, glanced at Freya's expression, and continued, "Whether there really was a scheme or not, I'm not sure. They kept their marriage certificate secret at the time, but somehow it got exposed later."

Freya frowned. Using a scheme - nothing more than manipulating things to have relations with Armando and such despicable acts.

Emma continued, "The Howard family's investment failed. Elizabeth's mother asked her for money, but Elizabeth didn't give it to her. In the end, Elizabeth even sent her mother to prison."

Freya's face immediately showed surprise, "What? She could send her own biological mother to prison?"

Her voice was filled with shock.

Emma sighed, a trace of helplessness flashing in her eyes, "No matter what Elizabeth did in the past, now she's the chairman of the Sherman Group and married into the Sherman family. Having such achievements shows she really has ability."

Emma's voice carried a hint of admiration, as if expressing respect for Elizabeth's capabilities and achievements.

Emma said softly, "Godmother, that's all I know. I think Elizabeth is a very capable woman."

Freya nodded silently and said lightly, "For a woman to achieve this much without relying on family support is indeed not simple."

Elizabeth was capable to the point of being somewhat frightening.

Armando, Jake, and Timothy - every single one of them had unclear connections with Elizabeth.

Freya picked up a glass of water and slowly took a few sips, thinking about Elizabeth's face that resembled Great-grandmother Audrey's.

A wave of complex emotions surged in Freya's heart.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Mabel left the mall and chose to eat at a Mexican restaurant.

The steaming hot Mexican food gave off an appetizing aroma.

The two ate with great enthusiasm.

"Elizabeth, the spice level at this Mexican restaurant is so satisfying!" Mabel said with a grin, picking up a piece of beef dipped in sauce and putting it in her mouth.

Elizabeth nodded with a smile, "Yes, it tastes great. I haven't had Mexican food in a long time. You should eat more."

Just as they were enjoying their meal, Elizabeth looked up and suddenly saw Timothy.

Timothy's gaze quickly found Elizabeth.

"Why are you here?" she asked, somewhat surprised.

Timothy sat down next to Elizabeth with a smile, "I knew you were here, so I came specially to check on you."

"Did you install a tracker on me?" Elizabeth looked at him darkly.

"No, I just happened to pass by and saw you." Mr. Robinson smiled.

Mabel muttered while eating her beef, "Looking but not eating."

Elizabeth forced a smile and tried to get him to eat with them so he couldn't scold her, "Have you eaten yet?"

Hearing this, Timothy couldn't help but smile, "I haven't eaten yet. I'll eat with you in a bit."

After saying this, he turned and called over a server, "Please take away all these dishes and bring some new ones that are less spicy. Thank you."

Elizabeth's face immediately darkened when she saw her favorite dishes being replaced.

What she loved most was spicy food, and just when she was eating with great interest, it was suddenly replaced with milder dishes.

Her mood soured.

Over a bite of food, Elizabeth wanted to argue with Timothy.

Elizabeth glared at him helplessly, but she actually understood that Timothy was doing this for her own good.

Mabel pouted, "Mr. Robinson, you dictator." Mabel watched longingly as the dishes were taken away, "I haven't had enough spicy food yet. If Elizabeth can't eat spicy food, I can! You didn't need to take away the spicy dishes."

Seeing their pitiful expressions, Timothy found it secretly amusing.

If Elizabeth hadn't just gotten her period, he wouldn't have interrupted her meal like this.

"Dr. Robinson wants to tell you that milder food is better for your stomach."

Elizabeth and Mabel looked at each other and telepathically decided to find another opportunity to sneak off and eat next time.

With three people eating together, they finished quickly.

Mabel quickly made an excuse that she had something to do and needed to leave.

"Why are you here?" Mabel paid for her drink and turned to ask Yosef beside her.

Yosef stood next to Mabel, his facial features appearing resolute and stern, "I sent you messages, but you never replied."

So he came directly to Border Ridge City.

Mabel held a drink in her hand, walking and talking, "We're actually not right for each other."

She thought he would understand what she meant.

"Is it because of that man?" Yosef's eyes held a trace of complexity. He was unwilling to give up like this.

Mabel stopped walking. She turned to look at Yosef, not wanting to deceive him, "I guess it has something to do with it."

Hearing this with his own ears, Yosef smiled helplessly, with a hint of bitterness in his smile.

A flash of pain crossed his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.

Yosef reached out and gently hugged Mabel, his voice low and tender, "Don't move, let me hold you for just a moment."

Mabel's body stiffened slightly but soon relaxed.

She knew Yosef had been seriously pursuing her for years, but because of Emma, she had never given him a response.

Until recently, Alfonso's appearance made her realize she had never truly moved on from that past relationship.

At this moment.

In a black car not far away.

Alfonso narrowed his eyes.

He watched Mabel and Yosef embracing by the roadside, the corners of his mouth curving up with a faint smile.

His smile didn't reach his eyes.
