Chapter 202 So Embarrassing
Emma heard Russell suddenly ask about the photo album.
She froze for a moment, and in her panic, knocked over the water glass in her hand.
Freya quickly called for a servant and handed Emma some tissues.
Emma said, "I'm sorry."
Freya comforted her, "It's okay. Emma, do you need to change your clothes? I have some dresses I've never worn. Want to change into one?"
Emma smiled, "It's just a little wet, no worries."
Freya looked and agreed it wasn't too bad, so she didn't push her to change. Instead, she turned to Russell, "Why are you suddenly asking for the photo album?"
"I want to take a look." Russell had flipped through the photo album Freya brought from the Stewart family once, twenty years ago.
He had been looking at Freya's photos, and only briefly glanced at the other pictures.
The family photo album was rarely taken out and looked at. The last time Freya took it out and looked through a few pages, Emma had taken it away.
The photos of Freya in it were all printed out by Russell's mother and put in the album for her.
"Godmother, I know where the album is. Should I go get it?" Emma was the one who put the album back in the storage cabinet last time.
Freya nodded without thinking much of it.
Emma went to get the album. Her slender fingers opened it and flipped to that old black and white photo.
Although she had blurred the face in the photo, Emma still felt uneasy this time.
She secretly bit her teeth, pulled out the photo, and put it in her pants pocket.
Luckily, she was wearing pants with pockets today.
Emma closed the album and brought it downstairs to Russell. "I looked at the photos last time too. Godmother was really a little beauty when she was young."
Freya laughed, "Oh, you!"
Russell smiled faintly and flipped through the album.
Emma sat down next to Freya. Her heart was tense the whole time, and she could almost hear Russell turning the pages of the album.
Page by page.
Emma's heart was racing.
Freya thought Russell suddenly had an interest in looking at photos and asked, "Russell, why do you suddenly want to look at the album?"
"Just want to take a look."
Russell didn't mention anything because he wasn't very sure yet.
They had been sending people to search for their daughter for over twenty years, and had been disappointed many times.
He flipped through the album until the last page.
He felt a bit disappointed. It seemed he had remembered wrong.
When Russell closed the album, Emma's expression remained unchanged as she listened carefully.
Russell said nothing more after finishing.
Emma left The Nightingale Mansion. She got in the car, raised her hand, and touched her back. Sure enough, it was wet.
Emma's face instantly darkened. She wished she could tear up that blurred photo in her pocket right now.
When the car reached home, she got out, went straight to her bedroom, tore up the photo, and then called someone.
"Help me find a woman. I'll send you a photo. Not too smart, not too dumb."
They missed their daughter. She could find them a daughter.
The next morning.
Elizabeth happily wanted to hug her blanket and keep sleeping.
But after resting yesterday, she had to go to work today.
After getting up, she found out that Timothy and Seraphina had already gone out for a run.
Elizabeth ate breakfast and hurried to the Sherman Group.
She was very busy today. The Sherman Group's shopping website had been redesigned.
After the redesign, it would recommend suitable products to customers based on big data, and the interface was clean and simple.
Elizabeth held a meeting and listened to reports from various departments. Only after the meeting ended did she take out her phone to check the message notification that had vibrated earlier.
It was a message from Mabel.
[Elizabeth, I'm coming to Border Ridge City to see you today]
Elizabeth smiled when she saw the message. [Great, I'll send you my home address]
Just after she sent the message, her phone rang again. This time it was a video call from Timothy.
Elizabeth walked into her office and answered the video call.
On the other end, Timothy was sitting on the sofa at home, wearing casual home clothes.
He looked very relaxed.
Elizabeth checked the time. "Why are you calling me at this hour?"
Timothy asked in a low voice, "Will you come home for dinner tonight?"
"I'll try."
She saw Timothy's disappointed expression.
Timothy had been a bit clingy lately.
Elizabeth pursed her red lips and blew him a kiss through the phone.
But suddenly, Seraphina's chubby face appeared on the screen.
A moment of silence.
This flying kiss was so awkward.
Seraphina thought Elizabeth wanted to kiss her, so she pressed her little hand to her mouth and sent the kiss from her palm to Elizabeth.
Timothy, who had been watching the mother and daughter blow kisses to each other, laughed quietly.
"Mommy, will you come home for dinner tonight?" Seraphina asked.
"Yes." Elizabeth didn't want to refuse Seraphina.
Now Timothy finally understood his position in Elizabeth's heart was ranked lower.
His family status was really worrying.
When he asked her, she answered "I'll try."
When Seraphina asked her, she answered "yes."
Timothy coaxed Seraphina away and quickly seized the time to say a few more words to Elizabeth.
"By the way, Mr. Robinson, Mabel should arrive at the house today."
After explaining things, Elizabeth hung up because she was busy.
Timothy fell silent.
Timothy looked at the disconnected video call helplessly.
In the late afternoon, Elizabeth came home and saw Mabel, whom she hadn't seen in years.
"Elizabeth!"
In her excitement, Mabel gave Elizabeth a bear hug.
Elizabeth laughed and gently patted Mabel's back.
Mabel burst into tears. "Elizabeth, it's so good that you're back! I'm sorry."
"What happened back then had nothing to do with you."
"How could it have nothing to do with me? If you hadn't saved me, you wouldn't have been taken away."
The more Mabel talked, the sadder she became.
Timothy couldn't stand it anymore. He patted Mabel's shoulder.
Mabel's eyes were still full of tears. She let go of Elizabeth, not understanding why Timothy was patting her.
Timothy said bluntly, "Elizabeth is already tired from work. Let her go take a shower first. You can go cry over there."
"Okay!"
Timothy put his arm around Elizabeth's shoulder and went upstairs. Before going up, he told Mabel she could cry while helping to watch Seraphina.
