Chapter 166 Anger
Facing Emma's apology.
Elizabeth accepted it calmly, then said with a bland expression, "Really? You two were together before? Are you sure about that?"
Emma frowned, "Ms. Penrose, you... forget it, I can't help it if you don't believe me."
Hearing this, Elizabeth found it amusing. She chuckled softly, leaned back against the sofa, lazily touched her belly, and said lightly, "Then forget it. I don't believe you."
Emma didn't expect Elizabeth to completely ignore the usual script. Elizabeth didn't seem angry at all?
"Ms. Sutter, I heard from my Mr. Robinson that the baby in your belly is Erik's." Elizabeth's words were actually probing.
"Erik and I actually broke up a long time ago," Emma smiled awkwardly, "Whether the baby is Mr. Robinson's or not, the hundred-day celebration will prove everything."
"Ms. Penrose, I might be pretty direct, and you might not like hearing this, but there's one thing you need to know - I'm the fiancée of Mr. Robinson officially recognized by the Robinson family."
Emma smiled gently, "If you want to stay by Mr. Robinson's side, I won't stop you, but as the other woman, would you accept that?"
Elizabeth frowned and felt like throwing up. She hadn't felt nauseous since getting pregnant until now.
Elizabeth eased the feeling of nausea, looked at Emma, and said seriously, "Ms. Sutter, I feel like throwing up right now. I'm really sorry, I need to leave first."
Elizabeth saw the smile on Emma's face instantly disappear.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow and added lightly, "Don't get me wrong, most pregnant women experience morning sickness. Ms. Sutter has had a child before, you should know this, right?"
Emma suddenly laughed softly, "Ms. Penrose, go ahead, but it's not too late for you to not have this baby."
She looked at Elizabeth and said meaningfully, "Maybe the baby in your belly isn't Mr. Robinson's child at all."
"What child isn't my child?"
Jake walked in, asking casually.
Elizabeth and Emma both turned around at the same time.
Jake had just walked in when he heard Emma talking nonsense. He sat down next to Elizabeth, "Ms. Sutter, you can eat whatever you want, but don't talk nonsense."
Emma felt a bit hurt being misunderstood by Timothy, whom she liked. She didn't expect him to hear what she'd just said to provoke Elizabeth.
Emma looked at Jake with a bitter smile and explained, "Sorry, just pretend I didn't say that."
Emma stood up, straightened her back, and left the living room dejectedly.
Elizabeth frowned. Emma's reaction just now seemed off.
"Elizabeth, are you full? If you are, shall I take you to the back garden of The Robinson Mansion?"
"Why do you smell like cigarettes?" Elizabeth had a keen nose.
"Coming back to The Robinson Mansion suddenly brought back a lot of feelings, so I went and smoked one cigarette, just one," Jake raised his hand and sniffed his sleeve, "I don't smell any cigarette smoke?"
Elizabeth rolled her eyes at his silly gesture of smelling his own sleeve, "Of course you can't smell your own stink. Let's go, didn't you say you'd take me to the back garden?"
The back garden of The Robinson Mansion covered a large area.
Elizabeth, seeing no one around, mentioned Emma's strange reaction to Jake.
"Really? Maybe she's deliberately trying to make you anxious?" Jake speculated.
"Maybe."
Elizabeth frowned.
In the Robinson Group conference room, Manuel had just lost his temper.
At this moment, the conference room was dead silent.
He stood up and walked out of the conference room with a cold face.
Sam walked beside Manuel, reporting, "Zander just sent a message that Mr. Robinson has returned to the Robinson family."
Manuel snorted coldly, "Finally willing to come back. With a pile of things at the company, instead of coming to the Robinson Group to help, he goes off to be some doctor. Having a son is like not having one at all. Cancel tonight's schedule."
Sam acknowledged.
That evening, Manuel returned home, went to shower and changed into home clothes before going downstairs for dinner.
Everyone was in the living room.
Manuel glanced at Timothy and the others, "Let's go eat first."
Elizabeth sat right next to Jake.
"Dad, this is my girlfriend Elizabeth," Jake pretended not to notice the strangely low pressure in the air and smiled, "We'll be getting our marriage certificate in a while."
Elizabeth politely greeted him.
Manuel looked Elizabeth over with scrutiny, then withdrew his gaze. He wasn't the type to embarrass a girl in person, "Let's eat."
During the meal, it was very quiet, with no one speaking.
Jake served Elizabeth the dishes she liked.
Elizabeth lightly kicked him with her foot, telling him not to serve her food.
Emma looked up at the two across from her, then lowered her eyes and ate her own meal.
After finishing the meal, Elizabeth felt tired.
After dinner, Manuel called Jake to the study.
And Elizabeth went back to her room to rest first.
In the study.
Manuel asked in detail about the Aquilonia incident. After the fake Timothy finished speaking, Manuel asked about Jake's situation.
"The Sherman family has been giving the Robinson Group trouble because Jake is still missing. Although the problems aren't major, they're very annoying. Do you know where Jake is now?"
Manuel sighed.
Jake's expression was bland, "I don't know where he is."
Manuel was silent for a while. He opened a drawer and took out an envelope. He placed it on the desk, "Look at this report. After reading it, you'll understand why I hope you'll marry Emma."
Jake raised an eyebrow, but inside he was thrilled. Could it be that Tommy and Jane really were that guy Timothy's children?
Jake casually picked up the envelope, opened it, and first pulled out a report.
It was a paternity test report.
The result proved a parent-child relationship.
He looked at Manuel questioningly.
Could Emma's children really be Timothy's?
"Keep reading the other materials inside." Manuel told him to look at the other documents in the envelope.
Jake suppressed his inner schadenfreude and continued to pull out another document from the envelope. After he finished reading it, his previously gleeful expression instantly vanished.
His expression turned terribly dark.
He gripped the document, simply unable to believe it.
His heart instantly filled with nameless rage.
How dare they!
The veins on the back of Jake's hand bulged with anger.
Tommy and Jane were actually...
Jake controlled his furious emotions.
Manuel said calmly, "Timothy, for Tommy and Jane's sake, I hope you'll temporarily marry Emma and acknowledge the two children. As for the future, you can also choose to divorce."
Manuel paused, rubbed his temples, and continued, "After the divorce, if you want to be with Elizabeth, I won't stop you."
The study fell silent for a while.
Timothy crossed his legs, put the documents and test results back in the envelope, wore a cold smile, and said hoarsely, "Fine, I'll marry Emma."
