Chapter 157 Study
"Mr. Robinson, go to the supermarket and buy some things for me. I'll make a list for you."
Elizabeth brushed off the hand on her shoulder and pretended to support her lower back as she went to get a pen and paper.
Jake watched her supporting her back and smirked slightly—she was acting like she was seven or eight months pregnant.
Elizabeth listed many things to buy, all scattered items. Anyway, he'd need at least an hour at the supermarket before coming back.
After finishing the list, she handed the note to Jake with a smile, "Hurry up and go, come back quickly after you're done shopping."
Jake leaned lazily against the sofa, his eyes fixed on Elizabeth. He took the list and glanced at it—daily necessities and fruit.
"Hurry up," Elizabeth continued watching TV, pushing his leg with a pillow, "Why are you so lazy now? You used to be so diligent."
How you are now, how you used to be.
Jake got a headache hearing this comparison. Annoyed by her nagging, he grabbed his car keys and left, "Okay, okay, okay."
After Jake left, Elizabeth went to the study.
He wouldn't be back from the supermarket that quickly.
She walked into the study, sat in the chair by the computer desk, and when she turned on Timothy's computer, she noticed a phone charging on the desk.
This was Jake's new phone, not the one he used before.
Elizabeth didn't know why, but she reached for the charging phone.
The phone needed a password to unlock. After two failed attempts, she was about to give up when she randomly entered a combination that actually unlocked it.
Elizabeth was instantly stunned.
She stared in shock at the surveillance footage on the phone's home screen.
From the surveillance view, she could see herself sitting in the study, holding the phone with a shocked expression.
The study door made a sound.
Someone pushed it open from outside.
Elizabeth heard the door open and looked up at the doorway in alarm.
Jake, who should have left for the supermarket, had returned.
She raised her eyebrows slightly and looked at Jake standing in the doorway, then looked back at the phone and asked casually, "When did you install surveillance in the study? I had no idea. You're really strange—why would you install this in the study?"
Jake smiled slightly. He walked in, circled behind her, bent down, and wrapped his arms around her.
His palm covered her small hand holding the phone.
His lips curved upward.
From the phone's surveillance view, you could see him embracing her from behind.
Intimately close.
Jake's face, wearing a gentle smile, pressed against hers, his eyes darkening slightly, "There are some important materials in the study."
"Why did you come back? Did you forget something?" Elizabeth casually put down his phone and turned her head to look at him, "Can I go to the supermarket with you?"
"Of course not. You need to stay home and rest. I came back to get my phone."
Jake held Elizabeth from behind without letting go, his face moving slightly away.
Elizabeth said irritably, "Fine, fine. Hurry up and go."
Jake glanced at her and spoke gently with a thoughtful expression, "Kiss me, then I'll go."
Elizabeth fell silent.
Elizabeth raised her eyebrows, smiled, and turned sideways. Her slender fingers pinched Jake's chin, her red lips parting slightly, "You kiss me."
Jake fell silent.
Less than half a second later.
Jake smiled inscrutably.
"Come on, hurry up. If you're going to kiss me, do it quickly. I want to watch my show."
After Elizabeth spoke, she rolled her eyes and frowned, "I just remembered—you used to give me goodnight kisses before bed. Why don't you do that anymore?"
Jake let her go, straightened up, and looked down at her for a moment.
He reached out and unplugged the phone charger, "When you're asleep, I secretly kiss you. Your body can't handle anything else right now."
"I'm going to the supermarket."
The study door closed once again.
Elizabeth turned on the computer and looked up information about childcare.
Jake drove away from the European-style villa and called his subordinate, his voice becoming warm and refined.
Jake's natural voice was different from Timothy's lazy, low tone.
"The organ trafficking people were arrested. Have you found out who was behind it?"
Although Jake saw that Timothy was close to the explosion site, he had to be cautious.
"We've found it was people from the police side."
As long as it had nothing to do with that guy Timothy, it was fine.
Emma flew back to Silverlight City from Border Ridge City just to see Timothy.
Thinking of him carefully helping Elizabeth out of the car, she tossed and turned in bed last night, unable to sleep.
She just wanted to talk to him.
Rarely back in Silverlight City, Emma accompanied Ophelia and Lyric to a tea party today.
Ophelia was now walking with confidence, all smiles. Before the car even reached the tea party, she turned to Emma and asked, "Where is Timothy now?"
"Silverlight City."
Emma replied, looking down to text several friends in Silverlight City to meet up tonight.
"When will you bring Timothy home for dinner? When are you planning to get married? These things need to be discussed." Ophelia fired off a series of questions.
Emma's pupils trembled slightly. She replied calmly, "Mom, there's no rush."
Lyric, sitting on the left, looked at Emma and frowned slightly, "Emma, is Mr. Robinson with Ms. Penrose?"
Emma looked down without answering, which was as good as admitting it.
Now Ophelia's smile faded too. Her face darkened, "I didn't expect Elizabeth to be so capable. A divorced woman who can still seduce Timothy."
"Mom, don't talk like that. It sounds bad if others hear it," Emma held Ophelia's arm, "Don't be angry."
"You're just too nice. Whatever, at least the Robinson family recognizes you."
Ophelia changed the subject to another matter, "People in our circle are privately saying that Armando ended his marriage with his beloved first love Sherry because he can't forget his ex-wife Elizabeth."
"That Elizabeth woman is quite capable. Look at her poor family background—she got her mother sent to prison, her stepsister's death is also suspicious, the Howard family has fallen... What a scary woman, like she brings bad luck."
Emma smiled lightly, her eyes moving slightly. She'd heard about these things too, "Where is her mother imprisoned?"
Ophelia shook her head, "I don't know. If you want to know, you can send someone to find out."
"No need, I was just curious."
Emma smiled and declined.
The car arrived at the tea party venue, held in a classical Chinese-style garden.
"Mom, Lyric is here. I want to go say hello to her." Mindy first checked her outfit for the day.
Beatrix put down her teacup and glared at her daughter, "I'll go with you."
She was afraid Mindy wouldn't know how to talk properly and would annoy people.
Mindy knew Lyric would attend this tea party, which was why she came with Beatrix.
Otherwise, she wouldn't come to such a boring event of brewing tea, drinking tea, and chatting.
"When did Ms. Sutter return to Silverlight City? Did you bring Tommy and Jane back too?" Beatrix asked Emma with a smile.
"Mrs. Johnson, just call me Emma. I came back a few days ago. The children are in Border Ridge City." Emma smiled.
Emma's gaze fell on Mindy's face.
Emma's smile deepened as she took Mindy's hand, "Mindy and I will go over there. This area is for the elders to chat."
After walking a short distance, she leaned close to Mindy's ear and said, "After the tea party, my cousin will pick us up to eat at a newly opened restaurant. If you and Mrs. Johnson are interested, we can go together. Are you interested?"
Hearing that Yosef would be there, Mindy nodded, her ears turning slightly red, and smiled, "Okay."
Emma smiled. She thought that if Cecilia was also on her side, things would be easier for her in the Robinson family.
The phone in Emma's bag rang. She apologized to Mindy.
Emma took out her phone and looked at the caller ID, "Matthew?"
"Emma, I went to see Timothy this morning," Matthew's voice carried helplessness, "I didn't expect him to deny that Tommy and Jane are his children."
Emma gripped her phone tightly and was silent for a while. She turned to tell Mindy to go sit over there first.
Emma walked to an empty corridor before speaking, "Thank you, Matthew."
Matthew on the other end comforted her, "When Timothy returns to Border Ridge City, he'll do a paternity test. When he sees the results, he'll have nothing to say. I guess he probably doesn't want to admit it because of Elizabeth."
Emma didn't speak for a moment. She collected herself and smiled, "It's okay if Mr. Robinson doesn't admit it. Matthew, thank you."
Timothy would eventually acknowledge Tommy and Jane.
Emma smiled lightly and hung up the phone.
