Chapter 145: Throwing Trash at Matthew

Chapter 145 Throwing Trash at Matthew

"Mom, why are you suddenly asking about Elizabeth's pregnancy again?"

Mindy went to the horse track but didn't see Yosef there, and she was still pretty bummed about it.

Getting a call from Beatrix right now was a good distraction from her gloomy mood.

"Better safe than sorry."

Beatrix wasn't planning to do anything after hearing Beatrix's reminder, just wanted to check things out first.

Mindy said coldly, "I think there's no way the baby in Elizabeth's belly is Armando's. Just don't know which man's kid it is."

As Matthew passed behind Mindy with a few friends, he happened to overhear what she said.

Elizabeth is pregnant?

Matthew frowned slightly.

"Mr. Sutter, why didn't you place any bets today?"

They usually bet for fun when they came to watch the horse races.

Matthew had sent people to Aquilonia to look for Timothy after his incident, so he wasn't in the mood to play around.

Mindy turned around and saw Matthew with a few others, but didn't see Yosef.

Mindy disappointedly turned back and continued her phone call with Beatrix.

Matthew and the others headed to the parking lot. He told them, "I've got something to take care of later, won't be joining you guys for dinner."

Matthew opened the car door, bent down and got in. After thinking for a moment, he made a call, "Help me find out where Armando's ex-wife, Elizabeth, is living now."

While waiting for the information, Matthew was about to call Emma, but then decided to investigate first.

[Ms. Penrose lives at 3 Integrity Road]

Matthew looked at the message, started the car, and headed to Integrity Road.

Elizabeth called Max again to ask about Timothy.

The response she got was still no news.

She hung up feeling disappointed.

The doorbell rang. Elizabeth went to see who it was, puzzled.

When she discovered it was Matthew at the door.

She immediately thought of Emma.

Elizabeth had no intention of opening the door.

It was disgusting.

Matthew, standing outside, rang the doorbell several times. When no one came to open the door, he assumed no one was home and had to leave.

He planned to come back tomorrow to find Elizabeth.

For three days straight, Matthew went to find Elizabeth but never found anyone answering the door.

He finally realized that Elizabeth wasn't away from home - she just didn't want to see him.

Probably because of Emma.

Elizabeth was pretty helpless too. She had no idea what Matthew kept coming to see her about.

Now every time she went out, she had to check first if Matthew was outside.

In the afternoon, it was time to take out the trash.

Elizabeth was carrying a bag of garbage. Seeing no one outside, she opened the door to go out.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she opened the door, she saw Matthew leaning against the left wall, looking like he'd been waiting for a long time.

"Ms. Penrose, you're really hard to catch," Matthew said with his hands in his pockets, walking toward Elizabeth with a smile. "Can we talk?"

Elizabeth put the bag of garbage by the door, where someone would come collect it later.

She looked at Matthew, her face calm. "What do you want to talk about?"

She didn't invite him inside.

Since there was no one else on the street right now, Matthew wasn't picky about the location.

His gaze fell on Elizabeth's belly, and he asked directly, "Are you pregnant? Is the baby Timothy's?"

Elizabeth didn't even look at Matthew and turned to go back inside.

So he came to ask her this question.

Just as Elizabeth was about to close the door, Matthew said, "My cousin already has Timothy's child."

Hearing this, Elizabeth instantly felt rage rising in her chest.

"Emma's child isn't Timothy's! She's pregnant with Erik's baby!"

Matthew frowned. He assumed Elizabeth was just jealous and warned, "Ms. Penrose, please don't talk nonsense. The Robinson family has already acknowledged Emma's two children."

Elizabeth took a deep breath. She opened the door and walked back out, bending down to pick up the bag of garbage she'd just put down.

She threw it at him.

Matthew turned sideways, dodging the garbage bag attack.

The bag hit his car with a thud.

Matthew fell silent.

Elizabeth said coldly, suppressing her anger, slowly spitting out one word: "Leave."

She turned back inside and closed the door.

Elizabeth leaned against the door, lost in thought. She was considering moving, but she couldn't bear to leave this place.

Matthew frowned.

The fact that Elizabeth might be pregnant.

He should tell Emma about it, at least give Emma a heads-up.

Matthew took out his phone and dialed Emma's number.

Emma was with Tommy and Jane. Her phone rang, and she saw it was Matthew calling.

She had the nanny take Tommy and Jane to the back garden before answering the call.

"Matthew?"

"Are you settling in okay at Border Ridge City?" Matthew bent down to properly dispose of Elizabeth's garbage bag, opened the car door, and got in, listening to Emma talk about Border Ridge City.

Emma said, "Matthew, I'm doing fine, just worried about Mr. Robinson. There's still no news about him."

"No news is good news," Matthew pulled out a wet wipe with one hand, holding the phone between his cheek and shoulder. "I'll come visit Tommy and Jane when I have time."

Matthew paused, then brought up Elizabeth.

"Emma, Elizabeth might be pregnant."

The sound of breaking glass came from the other end of the phone.

"Emma?"

"Matthew, I'm fine. Just accidentally knocked over a glass. What did you just say?" Emma asked, her smile forced, her voice a bit strained.

"I said, Elizabeth might be pregnant," Matthew said. "I'm telling you this so you're mentally prepared. Timothy likes Elizabeth - you've always known that."

At first, Matthew contacted Manuel directly just to get the Robinson family to acknowledge the two children.

What Matthew didn't expect was that Manuel would publicly announce Emma as Timothy's fiancée.

If Timothy came back and found out, he'd probably be furious.

Matthew sighed.

He just hoped that when the time came, Timothy would consider Tommy and Jane and not take it out on Emma.

Emma's eyes were calm as she kicked the broken glass on the floor with her toe. "Matthew, are you sure Elizabeth is pregnant?"
