Chapter 277 Comforting Jonathan

Chapter 277 Comforting Jonathan

The skin at Jonathan's Adam's apple was warm, and she could even feel his pulse beating.

Though his swallowing motion was subtle, Isabella still caught it precisely.

Just as she was about to press her advantage, Jonathan suddenly extended two fingers, placed them on her forehead, and gently pushed her away.

"Stop fooling around with me!"

Jonathan's voice remained cold,

"I'm very angry right now, Isabella. Can't you tell?"

"I can tell, that's why I'm trying to make you feel better."

Isabella tugged at his sleeve and deliberately put on a stern face,

"Jonathan, if you keep ignoring me, I'm getting out of the car!"

"What? You dare get out?"

Jonathan's reaction was lightning-fast. He immediately grabbed Isabella's hand that was on the door handle, then wrapped his arm around her,

pulling her securely onto his lap. His other arm locked tightly around her waist, making it impossible for her to move.

"Isabella, do you know how helpless I felt watching that livestream today? How much my heart hurt!"

Jonathan's voice trembled uncontrollably,

"I watched you grab a rope and jump down with Sophie. Fuck, that was the eighteenth floor! Not the first or second floor!

My hand holding the phone was shaking. My heart felt like someone was squeezing it hard. Even breathing hurt. My heart almost stopped beating!"

He grabbed Isabella's hand and pressed it against his chest.

Isabella could clearly feel Jonathan's heart racing alarmingly fast, as if it would burst through his ribcage.

"Feel it. My hands are still shaking!"

Isabella looked up and saw the bloodshot in Jonathan's eyes. Her nose tingled.

She knew he was truly terrified. This Jonathan, who was decisive and fearless in business, always lost control so easily when it came to her.

"Isabella, have I told you that I love you?"

Jonathan's gaze locked onto her, carrying a barely noticeable vulnerability.

"Yes."

Isabella's voice softened too.

"Yes, and you still did this!"

Jonathan's emotions flared up again,

"Did you think about what I would do if something really went wrong today? If the rope broke, or the landing was off? Tell me, Isabella, what would I do!"

Before Isabella could defend herself, Jonathan lowered his head. His other hand slipped through her thick hair, gently cupping the back of her neck, pulling her to his lips and kissing her fiercely.

This kiss carried punishment, yet also hid his deep fear and devotion.

Isabella felt her lips being sucked hard, her teeth easily pried open. His agile tongue pushed in, dominantly hooking her tongue, greedily stealing the air from her mouth.

Their saliva mixed rapidly. The air in her mouth, throat, and chest was all sucked away by Jonathan.

Isabella was kissed almost to the point of suffocation. Tears involuntarily welled up from the physical reaction, and she looked at Jonathan through blurry, tear-filled eyes, looking pitiful.

Jonathan noticed her trembling and finally loosened his grip slightly, pressing his forehead against hers, his heavy breathing washing over her face.

He pressed her firmly into his chest,

with such force it was as if he wanted to embed her into his body. Feeling her warm body temperature in his arms finally eased some of that post-crisis panic.

Isabella reached out and wrapped her arms tightly around Jonathan's neck,

showering kisses from the corner of his mouth downward, landing on his Adam's apple, then on his defined collarbone.

Her movements were gentle, full of apology. Just then, she felt something cool on her face.

It was Jonathan's tears! This Jonathan, who only ever showed her his strong side, was actually crying.

"I'm sorry! Jonathan, I won't do it again."

Isabella's voice was choked with tears,

"I didn't think that much at the time. I just wanted to save Royce, and Noe was still up there waiting for us. I couldn't back down."

"You lie to me every time!"

Jonathan said in a muffled voice. Last time when she went alone to investigate the smuggling case, she also said "it won't happen again."

"This time it's real, I swear to God!"

Isabella raised her hand, making a serious promise.

"Not good enough."

Jonathan cut her off directly.

"Then, then what do you want?"

Isabella looked at him somewhat helplessly.

"To Lavender Manor."

Jonathan's voice regained some composure as he spoke coldly to the driver, his tone carrying an unquestionable command.

"Yes!"

The driver responded.

Isabella instinctively replied, then froze after realizing,

"Where's Lavender Manor? Aren't we going home? If we don't go back like this, my parents will definitely worry."

Jonathan didn't answer. He just straightened his tie slightly, then took Isabella's canvas bag from her shoulder and handed it to Orion in the front seat,

"Take Azburg back to the Tudor Manor. Tell everyone in the Tudor Family and my parents that we'll be back later."

"Yes! Mr. Hamilton."

The bodyguard respectfully acknowledged, took the bag, and exchanged a look with the driver. The car immediately made a smooth U-turn and drove in the opposite direction from the Tudor Manor.

Half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of a manor hidden deep in the greenery.

Security here was tight. The guards at the gate, seeing Jonathan's car,

immediately opened the gate respectfully.

As soon as the car stopped, Jonathan hoisted Isabella onto his shoulder and strode toward Lavender Manor.

"Jonathan! Where is this? Where are you taking me! Hey! I already apologized! Put me down!"

Isabella, dizzy from being carried, flailed her limbs,

"Jonathan! Hey! If you carry me like this, I'm going to throw up! Put me down!"

No matter how Isabella protested, Jonathan remained unmoved.

He instructed the approaching butler,

"Everyone retreat to the perimeter. Without my orders, no one is to approach the main building."

"Yes, Mr. Hamilton."

The butler respectfully complied and immediately arranged for all servants to withdraw.

Jonathan carried Isabella straight into the main building, through the luxuriously decorated living room, up the spiral staircase to the second floor.

Pushing open the master bedroom door, Isabella immediately saw the huge waterbed in the center of the room. The bed curtains hung low, creating an ambiguous and mysterious atmosphere.

Jonathan casually closed the door and gently placed her on the soft waterbed.

Isabella swallowed and instinctively scooted backward.

Jonathan looked down at her, his gaze as deep as the night sea, with complex emotions churning within...

There was anger, worry, and an intense desire that couldn't be dissolved.

He slowly walked to the bedside, bent down to remove his watch from his left hand, and casually tossed it on the nightstand with a light clink.

"What? Scared now?"

Jonathan's voice carried a hint of mockery. He leaned down, reaching out to gently stroke Isabella's cheek, the temperature of his fingertips so hot it made her shiver.
