Chapter 155 This Child Looks Like Alexander?
Chapter 155 This Child Looks Like Alexander?
Alexander felt quite embarrassed, though it didn't affect his usual cold, serious, and stern expression.
What he didn't know was that his grandfather and father had been discussing him back and forth at home, and now they were already thinking about preparing a crib for his future son.
The three members of the Ward family had arrived at their destination. Looking at the long row of tombstones, their hearts filled with sadness.
"Who sent these flowers? Did someone from the Wilson family come by?" Bruce asked.
Charlotte also looked at him with confusion. "Maybe?"
"Hypocrites." Bruce snorted coldly but didn't say more, placing the flowers he bought next to them.
"Family, I brought Ethan to see you. He's four and a half years old now, in senior kindergarten. Are you doing well in heaven?" Charlotte's nose tingled and tears fell as she looked at the cold tombstones before her, her thoughts running wild.
Bruce silently handed her a handkerchief without speaking, the sadness in his eyes no less than hers.
Ethan stood to the side paying his respects without asking many questions. Although he had never asked about these matters, he had investigated quite a bit. The grudges between the Wilson family and the Ward family couldn't be explained in just a few words.
The three of them remained sad for a long time before preparing to leave. Charlotte looked back reluctantly several times before taking Bruce's arm and walking away.
From a distance, they saw people from the Wilson family coming. Both of them were startled and immediately looked at Ethan. Oh no, they had stayed too long.
"Don't worry, I have a way. You two go first." After speaking, Ethan immediately ducked to the other side.
Bruce glanced at Charlotte and asked quietly, "Does he know something?"
"I told him Alexander is my ex-husband. He doesn't know anything else," Charlotte answered seriously.
"That's good." Bruce also breathed a sigh of relief.
The two continued walking forward. After just a few steps, they ran into people from the Wilson family face to face.
"You're here," Bruce said flatly, his gaze distant.
"Yes," Henry replied, because he didn't know what else to say.
The atmosphere was somewhat heavy.
Charlotte shook Bruce's arm lightly and said, "Let's go."
"Okay." The two walked past them arm in arm, never once looking at them from start to finish.
Anna couldn't help but turn back to look at their retreating figures. Why would Bruce come here too?
Ethan, wearing sunglasses, calmly walked out from the other side. Just as he was about to breathe a sigh of relief, a man's voice came from behind. "Kid, what are you doing here?"
Oh no!
The Ward siblings, who had already walked some distance away, were startled, but they couldn't turn around. They continued walking as if they hadn't heard anything.
Ethan turned around and saw Alexander. He didn't expect that the man could still recognize him even though he was wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses. He didn't know whether to be happy or angry.
He looked back at him. "Hello."
Henry and Daniel walked over. "Alexander, what's wrong?"
Looking at the little boy in front of him, Henry frowned. Although he couldn't see his eyes or hair, somehow there was a sense of familiarity. He felt like he had seen this child somewhere before.
"Why are you here?"
Ethan said calmly, "Today is my father's death anniversary. I have to go now." After speaking, he turned to leave.
The wound on his small hand caught Henry's eye. He called out, "Wait."
Ethan's steps faltered. Had Alexander's father figured something out? This was bad!
He turned back and looked at Henry's serious expression through his sunglasses, asking, "Is there something?"
"Your hand is hurt. Here." He pulled out a napkin from his pocket and handed it to him.
Ethan calmly took it and wiped the blood from his palm but didn't throw the paper away. Who knew what this person was thinking.
"How did this happen? Does it hurt?" Alexander looked at his deep wound, his paternal instincts kicking in. He pulled out a Burberry luxury men's handkerchief from his pocket and wrapped it around the wound. For some reason, seeing this child made him feel a bit heartbroken.
Ethan smiled reluctantly. "It's fine. I got it while pulling weeds from my dad's grave. Thank you."
"Where's your mom?"
"My mom was too sad and ran off. I have to go now. Goodbye." After saying this, he didn't care about anything else and turned to leave.
Looking at his small figure walking away, Daniel frowned. "That back looks a bit like Alexander when he was little. His back is so straight."
Henry also glanced over. It did look a bit like Alexander as a child, with a similarly calm temperament.
"You guys, come over here," Brian called out from a distance.
The three of them withdrew their gaze and turned to walk away. When Henry looked back, the small figure was already gone.
Strange. He always felt this child gave him a sense of familiarity.
"What's his name?" he asked Alexander curiously.
"Not sure. I think his last name is Harris. He's Emily's classmate." He replied flatly.
Ethan, who had ducked behind a tombstone, breathed a sigh of relief. Good thing he hadn't left his sunglasses in the car earlier, or he would have been exposed.
Although he didn't look like Alexander, old people could still recognize family resemblance. It seemed he needed to be more careful in the future.
Charlotte had been nervously looking around in the car for a long time. When she saw Ethan come out, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at him, her heart felt heavy. His own father and family were right in front of him but he couldn't acknowledge them and had to hide. At this moment, she wondered if she was being too cruel.
But what else could she do if she wasn't cruel? Forget everything else - just thinking about when Alexander dragged her to the hospital to have an abortion back then, she knew he would never want this child. For the child's future, she absolutely couldn't reveal this secret.
Ethan glanced back before getting in the car. When would this kind of life end? Since both Charlotte and Alexander seemed to have feelings for each other, he wondered if, as their son, he should help them out.
Bruce was thinking about Anna's cold, dismissive look earlier. Somehow his heart felt uncomfortable. He couldn't help but smile - wasn't this what he had always wanted?
Three people in the same car, each with different thoughts.
"By the way, who sent those flowers earlier? Do we have other acquaintances?" Charlotte asked. The more she thought about it, the stranger it seemed. At first she thought the Wilson family had come earlier and sent them, but they hadn't.
Bruce thought for a while before answering, "I don't know."
"Could it be your adoptive father?"
Bruce shook his head helplessly. "Impossible. All he thinks about every day is gambling. He never thinks about the Ward family. It couldn't be him. The Rogers family also knows us. Do you think they might have sent them?"
Charlotte frowned. "That's also possible."
Was it really the Rogers family who sent them? Neither Charlotte nor Bruce knew for sure.
What exactly had happened between these three families?
