Chapter 146: Blind Date

Chapter 146: Blind Date

Alexander's already icy face got even colder when he received the call. "I've got things at the company today, no time."

"Whatever it is can wait. Your grandfather and I both think the Murphy family's daughter is great. You need to take this seriously and stop nitpicking like before," Henry said sternly.

They'd introduced him to plenty of good matches before, but he hadn't liked any of them. Later he just told them he liked men, which made Henry so angry he nearly coughed up blood.

But this time, no matter what, he had to go see her. After all, the Murphy family's wealth and background were not to be underestimated, and Simon only had one daughter, Daphne. Wouldn't that huge fortune eventually become Alexander's?

You could say Henry was doing his best to look out for his son, but what Alexander actually thought about it was anyone's guess.

"Really don't have time. Hanging up now," he said flatly.

"You're going today no matter what. Whether you like her or not, you at least need to show the Murphy family some respect. They're one of our longtime clients," Henry said, his tone clearly commanding and cold.

Alexander was silent for a moment, then reluctantly gave in. "Fine, I got it."

Damn it, Henry was always causing him trouble. Instead of spending time finding him matches, he should find himself a companion for his old age.

The Murphy family couldn't be easily offended - after all, they'd been working with the Wilson Group for years. From a long-term business perspective, he had to go meet her. He was in a terrible mood. Next time Henry dared to set him up behind his back, he'd definitely post Henry's profile on a dating website.

This Henry was going too far.

"Mia, cancel tonight's meeting," he told his secretary and walked out of the office.

Mia looked confused. Alexander rarely canceled meetings. What was going on today?

Looking at that eye-catching news headline, she felt all kinds of envy and jealousy. This Charlotte must have saved the entire universe in her past life - otherwise why would so many rich, handsome guys only revolve around her? So jealous!

Could it be that Mr. Wilson was going on a date with Ms. Harris today? Mia's mind suddenly filled with dramatic scenarios.

The phone suddenly rang. Mia's brain was still stuck in those steamy scenarios, and she blurted out without thinking, "Mr. Wilson went on a date with Ms. Harris."

The manager on the other end froze, and soon it spread rapidly among the executives. Five minutes before closing time, the news had reached every employee's ears, causing quite a stir.

Hazel's hands clenched tightly. Charlotte, Charlotte again!

She'd just arrived at the Wilson family home wanting to surprise Alexander, but instead he'd given her quite the surprise. The child was gone, the divorce was final, so much time had passed, and now this Charlotte comes back and seduces Alexander again - shameless bitch!

Hazel threw her handbag into the car and drove off with a dark expression.

This time, no matter who her rival was, she had to take her down, because the position of Mrs. Wilson could only be hers.

Charlotte, just you wait!

When Alexander arrived at the agreed-upon restaurant, Daphne was already there. Long hair, a pointed chin, big eyes, small nose, wearing a green dress that looked very modest. If he didn't know she was Simon's daughter, he would have thought she was a recent college graduate. But she was indeed very pretty - pure, clean, and touching.

Charlotte's appearance from years ago suddenly flashed through his mind. Hadn't she been just as pure, clean, and touching back then?

"Ms. Murphy, hello. I'm Alexander Wilson," he extended his hand like a gentleman.

Daphne smiled slightly and spoke gently, "Hello Mr. Wilson, I'm Daphne Murphy."

The two sat down, not sure what to say, but finally Daphne spoke first. "Mr. Wilson was also forced to come by your family, right?"

Alexander paused slightly and nodded. "To be honest, I only found out about this meeting at the last minute."

"I could tell. Actually, I was forced to come by my family too. I already have a boyfriend from when I was abroad, but my family never approved. If Mr. Wilson doesn't mind, I think we could become good friends." Daphne spoke tactfully, her face showing an understanding smile throughout.

Hearing this, Alexander breathed a sigh of relief. At least this time he'd finally met a normal woman - straightforward and efficient. Plus with such a powerful background, they could indeed become good friends.

"I'm glad to become friends with Ms. Murphy. I heard you're coming back to take the position of Vice Chairman of the Murphy Group. If we go back now, both families will be suspicious. How about we discuss the next steps in our companies' cooperation instead?"

Daphne laughed. "I've always heard from the elders that Mr. Wilson is a famous workaholic. Seeing is believing. To be honest, I brought some documents today too, wanting to discuss our companies' future cooperation with Mr. Wilson." She took out a document from her handbag and handed it to him.

And so the two workaholics got into discussions. The blind date didn't work out, but they closed a big business deal instead.

"Kevin's concert tour is starting soon at Times Square. I heard Charlotte is going to support him too. Hurry up and eat, let's go over after we finish." The chatter of a few young girls not far behind them interrupted their conversation.

"I heard Charlotte and Kevin used to be with the same agency. They're such a good match, it's a shame they're not together," said the girl in red.

The girl in white disagreed. "I still think Alexander is the hottest. Rich and good-looking - him with Charlotte would be a perfect match."

The girls gossiped away, completely unaware of the handsome man in the corner.

Daphne glanced at him. "I also think Mr. Wilson and Ms. Harris make a good match."

Alexander forced a cold smile but said nothing.

"If Mr. Wilson has time, could you come with me to Kevin's concert? My bestie texted me saying something came up and she can't make it. I happen to have two tickets here." Daphne held up the concert tickets.

Through the glass window, Ethan spotted the handsome man in the corner of the upscale restaurant and couldn't help but frown.

"Isn't that your cousin?" Ethan said to Emily beside him.

Emily's little face looked up from her ice cream toward the direction he indicated. "My cousin is on a blind date!"

"Blind date?" He drew out the words.

Emily nodded and answered in a sweet childlike voice, "Ever since Alexander got divorced, the family keeps introducing him to women. It's pretty normal."

"This Alexander, damn it!" Ethan cursed and walked off with a dark expression.

"Ethan, what's wrong? Wait for me!" Emily chased after him.

"I have a very important meeting at the company soon, so I'm afraid I can't," Alexander declined.

Daphne shrugged. "No problem. Mr. Wilson, you go ahead with your work. Here's to a successful cooperation."

"Successful cooperation." Alexander left after saying this.

Daphne watched his departing figure, sighed, and also got up to leave.

The more Ethan thought about it, the angrier he got. This Alexander, good for him, just great!

He was officially angry, and the consequences would be serious.

So the next day around 10 AM, the Wilson Group's website was attacked and all computers suddenly crashed, even the high-end computer in the CEO's office wasn't spared. Two minutes later, all computers restarted, but this cost the Wilson Group tens of millions of dollars.

"How is the technical department and IT department maintaining things? Don't tell me you couldn't detect such a huge vulnerability!" In an emergency meeting, Alexander's face was dark with anger as he reached up and tugged at his collar.

"Mr. Wilson, our IT department checks around the clock, there's really no gap to exploit..." the IT manager answered weakly with his head down. Really, they had no idea how that hacker had attacked the company website.

Alexander's cold, icy gaze swept over him. "Then how did the hacker get in? You're still passing the buck to each other. Looks like I've been too good to you lately."

The manager lowered his head. Mr. Wilson, we're really innocent here - the problem is the hacker is too powerful.

Alexander was furious. He didn't know what the IT department was good for if they let a hacker attack the company website. The online transactions and confidential files got frozen all at once. Money could be earned back, but those files...

Who had the nerve to backstab him like this? If he found out who it was, he'd make them pay. Anyone who dared play dirty with Alexander Wilson wouldn't even know how they died!

"Investigate! I want a thorough investigation. If you can't find them, you're all fired!" Alexander slammed the documents on the table and walked out with a dark expression.

The department heads in the conference room didn't dare lift their heads, remaining in fear for a long time.

Ethan rubbed his arms, stood up from the computer, and went to the restaurant humming a tune.

Want to track him down? The Wilson Group's IT people, no matter how good they were, probably still needed some time to improve. Just wait - if he caught Alexander going on blind dates and looking for girlfriends behind Charlotte's back again, he'd mess with him every single time. He had all the time in the world anyway.

Ethan ate his delicious pasta and picked up his phone to send Alexander a message.

My Mom is a Angel: Hey, what's daddy doing?

No response for a long time. Ethan sent several more messages but still got no reply. Looks like Alexander really got hit hard this time.

Serves him right for trying to cheat on my mom - this is the price!

My Mom is a Angel: Dad, are you in a bad mood today?

After a long while:

Calm Breeze: Annoyed.

My Mom is a Angel: What's wrong? Tell me and I'll help you figure it out.

Calm Breeze: Bad mood. Get lost.

My Mom is a Angel: Come on, did some woman upset you?

Calm Breeze: Work stuff.

My Mom is a Angel: Your boss gave you attitude? If you can't handle it, just quit. I'll support you. I curse your boss - if he's married, may he get divorced; if he has a girlfriend, may she cheat on him. He's destined to be single forever, lonely and depressed for life.

My Mom is a Angel: That should cheer you up, right? Come on, smile for me. (grinning emoji)
