Chapter 85 – Slaughter Some Hellhounds
SEBASTIAN.
It had been a painful day since talking to my mother and no sign of Teresa, although I could still feel her pain. The revelation of my mother's venerable age gave me a glimpse of her inner fortitude and the hardships she may have faced.
I kept asking my soul and this powerful link we had to find out the smallest detail about Teresa’s abduction. I had called Erik, as I was definitely more and more sure that they were father and daughter.
He also had some premonitions, and even felt that something was wrong. I just would not lie to him.
“Hey Bash, any news?” he asked me, overly worried.
It was obvious that he had spent the day of yesterday looking for clues or any other evidence that might have told us where Teresa had been taken. “I stayed up all night trying to locate her, but I couldn’t. It was as if something or someone was blocking my senses and putting a barrier between me and her. “
“I understand you. It’s the same with me. I feel like my blood got poisoned! There are things you don’t know yet, Erik, so please follow me to the office. Liam and my mother are there too,” I said, waving for him to follow me.
“Greetings all!” he told them and sat down in the free chair. “What don’t I know?” he suddenly asked as my mother raised her eyes from the ground, staring at me.
“My mother and Liam, I wanted to tell you that Erik has also felt things about Teresa since she was abducted yesterday. The same ones I had. What you do not know but maybe you suspect, and I think it is neither the time nor the place to hide such a thing from you. The reason Erik feels this can only be explained is that Teresa is his blood relative, more precisely his daughter!”
The moment I said that, silence came upon the office. I already had this discussion with both my mother and Liam before, so the surprise was not that great. Even so, Liam’s eyes widened.
“Teresa, Erik’s daughter? You said something about that once, so it is confirmed now? That explains all the changes she went through. I probably suspected something since her blood healed you, Bash, and now it’s in the hands of the same woman who said she needed the pure blood of a descendant from an original vampire. And what another vampire like that is there besides Erik?”
“Exactly Erik. Only it seems with all her strength she still hasn’t escaped, which honestly makes me think Lettice has found a dangerous way to hold her in place and weaken her somehow!” I explained, thinking about how likely things seemed.
“Lettice? Who is Lettice?”
This new name upset Erik.
“Lettice is actually Dr. Luana Antonov!” I said without hesitation.
We had to buy time. I had seen his eyes frown, but I continued. “It seems that this woman has fooled us all. She joined the company in order to make a serum that would heal the wounds of a werewolf ten times faster. I liked the idea so much that you know I funded it. Big mistake! You know very well that she kept telling us that the key ingredient is the blood of a descendant of an original vampire, like you, Erik, but I didn’t want to stir the waters telling her it was you. I knew, but I said nothing. I knew you were looking for your daughter and that with her help, we could become an invincible army. The moment I spoke with my mother and then with you, Erik, and when I saw with my own eyes how quickly Teresa’s blood healed me, I drew my own conclusions. Not to mention other coincidences. I knew the entire story and Teresa’s powers were so similar to Jessica’s. There was also the name. Coincidence or not, Erik’s daughter’s name was also Teresa. She confessed to me she no longer remembers her mother, but that she had a small chain with her mother’s face, a chain that I still don’t know where it could be. But when it is discovered, then the whole truth will come to the surface. Until that day, we will have to save her somehow. "
“Incredible, Bash! How could I not prevent this? Anyway, the lamentations are late now. We will have to come up with a well-developed plan and save Teresa!”
Erik seemed more and more enraged.
“First, we need to find out where this Lettice is!” I spoke.
I could see Erik thinking. It was normal. He was just worried about where his daughter might be. His doubts were not so great anymore. They could not ignore the voice of blood. “What are you thinking, my friend?” I dared to ask, even though I kind of knew what he wanted to ask me. I could read the despair on his face, too.
“Lettice ... where did she come from?”
“It’s such a long story, Erik,” I began with a bent heart, glancing at the ground. I was really ashamed to have such a bad and conspiratorial relative. A woman who could hurt her own blood. “This woman is none other than my and Vicky’s great-grandmother. Long ago, in the time of our ancestors, in Northumberland, there lived a noble royal family with a great connection to us. Lettice was the daughter of these people related to us, and her revenge comes from somewhere in the past. She was forcibly married and then expelled. The sad story of her life, but this is where her resentment comes from and now, we, her descendants, pay dearly.” I narrated the story as short as I could. It really hurt my heart to think about what Teresa might go through right now.
“Wow, no words, Bash. Just like I told you, we need a plan. Who can we rely on?”
“Always on the three Contingents and their sentinels, Jacob, William, and Liam here! The problem is that I don’t know where she is keeping her…” I concluded disappointedly. “I try to connect with her, but I can’t. It’s as if something or someone is blocking our communication link. And besides, I feel like someone is doing many experiments on me, which means that’s exactly what’s happening to her!” I screamed, hitting the table with my fist out of helplessness.
I was here making plans, and a madwoman who has the audacity to be called a relative of us tormented her. “Look, Erik, I know it’s hard for you, especially because, even though you’re not sure, Teresa can be your daughter. I know you think of her that way, too. But let’s not let our feelings obscure our judgment. The enemy I’m talking about is very dangerous and cunning. Will we have to be united and act together, okay?”
The temptation for revenge and the active attack was so great, but at stake was the life of the woman I loved and the daughter of this man who had been looking for her for over twenty years. We didn’t need a DNA test, but we weren’t sure about anything either, so we had to think coldly and leave nothing to chance.
Our plan was proper and sitting and analyzing from our perspective of a grieving father and an angry fiancé. Revenge would be cruel, and Teresa’s rescue was as close as possible.
Suddenly, a shiver ran through my body. It wasn’t Teresa; it was Vicky. Surely something had happened, or she simply felt my pain again, that this time it seemed more pronounced than ever.
“Bash, what’s going on there? I feel you in confusion and your soul is heavy!” she began with no further introduction.
She had clearly felt me, and that she had contacted me put me in a position to tell her everything. I didn’t want to make it even harder for her than it was, but that was my jumping to the rescue sister. I tried to deviate a little from the subject, though.
“What happened Vicky? Are you ok? Everything is fine there?” I asked worriedly, hoping that my despair would not feel so badly. I was wrong. Vicky felt everything.
“Tell me what happened! Surely something did. Once again, you are suffering, brother. I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
“Vicky ... Teresa has been kidnapped! The one who kidnapped her is none other than the one you described the other day, our great-grandmother, Lettice. I don’t know how I could be so blind not to see. She was right under our eyes, plotting and creating God knows what in the lab. Now he kidnapped Teresa and I feel something or someone poisoning my entire body!” I explained as best I could.
Vicky was silent. Then the determination in her voice gave me hope.
“Bash, pay attention to me. Lettice has her headquarters in Wales. Before you ask me why I’m so sure, I attacked that place some time ago. Do you know the missing girls? They were all there, scared, malnourished, tortured. You don’t want to know what condition they were in. You won’t believe what she has in there, the bastard. That place is a maze. Like a gate to hell. You can’t miss it. It’s on the highest hill. “
“Teresa ... she might be there…”
“She might! Do you need help, brother?” she asked me twice until I answered.
I was trying to figure out how to get there in my head. The plan was already unfolding in my head.
“No, Vicky, I’m fine, thank you. You have been a great help to me!”
“Anytime bro, keep me informed, will you?” she said and with these last words, she broke off the connection.
I turned to Liam and Erik. My mother was perhaps the most shocked.
“Erik, Liam, gather everyone! We are going to Wales to slaughter some hellhounds!”
