Chapter 83 – Prepare For Your Death!

TERESA.

This smell made me terribly dizzy. I couldn’t get up from the floor, not to mention that the flames in my hands went out instantly and my eyes burned from whatever she pulverized me with.

I recognized the same smell in the lab, and it was hard for me to concentrate on staying awake. Although I could hardly focus, her confession still resounded in my head as being the great grandmother of the Gallagher brothers.

Why would I believe her if she had been lying to us so far? Is it another one of her weapons? It flooded my mind with pain and the question of how Bash allowed such a woman to come into the company? Maybe he didn’t know…

To her delight, I struggled under her foot, which she pressed so hard against my chest that I stopped breathing. I could also hear Sonia next to me, but because of the dizziness, I could barely make out what she was saying.

“Lettice, leave her alone. You’re going to kill her!” Sonia yelled.

But the so-called Lettice laughed even harder, pressing even harder. It was a crazy pleasure for her to torture me.

“But that is exactly the point, although not yet! I’ll play with her a little longer!” and lifting her heavy foot from my neck, grabbed my hair and lifted me to her level. I could barely touch the ground. My body throbbed. “You’re pathetic Teresa Von Hagen!”

When she said that name, I felt my blood rush to my head.

“That… is not ... my name!” I managed more to whisper from how badly she was choking me. If only I had the strength to confront her.

But I still didn’t understand how this smell annihilated all my powers…

“What is it, Teresa? Wondering why you’re so weak? Well, let me enlighten you!” and saying these words to me, she threw me against the wall behind, the wounds on my wrists opening more, as she still chained me.

I was constantly losing blood, but I didn’t care. I was even thinking that it would be less for this damn devil. If that’s how I was supposed to die, at least I should do it without her having anything to gain from me. And with this smell so strong, I couldn’t get in touch with Bash.

“That,” she began, laughing mockingly, “is your sentence to the afterlife trip. It’s something I never thought I’d find, but what do you know, with Noah’s help, I did it!”

Noah’s name rang in my ears like a huge, deafening bell. How did she know him? No, he couldn’t betray me like that. “What happened? Did you think Noah was on your side? Or do you wonder how I know him, right? Well, how could I not know him when I gave him life?”

Everything revolved around me and it was no longer just the effect of this cursed perfume but what I heard from her mouth.

“No, you’re bluffing!” I said, almost swallowing my words, trying to get up when she kicked me again.

I fell in the same spot with even greater pain.

“Well, it’s your opinion, and I can’t change it or influence it. But I can tell you that Noah is far from what you have imagined! That’s why you’re pathetic! And you’re naïve too!”

Again, that mocking laugh I won’t soon forget. “Now you need to come with me. I have other surprises ready for you. I wouldn’t want you to miss them!”

She approached threateningly, and without handcuffing my hands, she passed a chain around them and simply dragged me after her. Sonia’s voice faded slightly as I walked away.

I walked through the lighted hallway with torches here and there. This time, I sensed it would hurt a lot. This woman was crazy. The pain of betrayal, whatever it was and where it all started, blinded her in the worst way since she took revenge on her grandchildren. You must be really crazy to get revenge on your own flesh and blood.

She took me to another cell where several heavy chains hung on the walls and in the center was a large wooden table where blood was clotted as if to witness what was happening here. I didn’t have to be a genius to realize it was a torture chamber.

“I thought nothing like this was made anymore!” I said with a grin on my face, hoping to make her go insane with rage.

Something Sonia had told me had stuck in my mind. Jessica, the woman believed to be my mother. When she would reach some point of rage, she would explode in fury, unleashing her own hell.

If I really was her daughter, maybe I could do the same. I had not yet discovered this power in me, but maybe now was the right time to do it.

“Oh, but you’ll like it here!” she shouted in front of me and simply threw me against the wall, fastening me with my back to her.

Then, in one motion, she tore my shirt, exposing my bareback. It was more than obvious what she was going to do. In that case, I didn’t know who was more pathetic here. I saw the despair of what had happened in her past in every action.

And because she was frustrated and a loser, she poured all her anger on me. When I felt the first contact with her whip with sharp iron heads soaked in the perfume that was leaving me weak, I wanted to give up and die.

But that was not my purpose. The pain felt was nothing compared to what I have experienced so far. It was excruciating. Each blow detached a piece of flesh from my back, prolonging my agony.

I didn’t give her the pleasure of screaming. I kept it to myself all the time. When I was on the verge of fainting, my thoughts flew to Bash and how he would find me in time. Then I got out of the torment she was making me go through and to remain conscious for the next round of blows.

Her rage upon me repeated over and over again until I fell to the ground and almost my life slipped from under my feet. “I was really wondering how long you would last, my little fighter!” she said eventually, mocking me.

I had almost fallen to my knees, slipping in and out of consciousness. The next thing I knew, she untied me and laid me on that table in the center of the room, face up.

The wounds on my back were now unbearably in contact with the rough wood. She fastened my arms and legs with chains, revealing my chest this time.

Maybe she was expecting me to cry out in pain, but I won’t give her that satisfaction. I straightened my back in agony, but endured. Right now, it was not the wounds on my skin that were my highest concern. It was this woman’s stupid revenge.

And see how I would find a way out of here and warn Bash and Vicky. I was sure that this lunatic was going to go after Vicky, as I was sure she was the one who set foot in her realm.

My body was hurting all over my legs, my arms, my back. But nothing hurt as much as my heart. I knew I left upset with Bash and now I was here, trapped, with no way out.

But I also knew that he was definitely on his way to save me. He had to be... I was looking up at Lettice, or whatever her name was, as she was sitting above me with a syringe full of a colorless liquid ready to inject it into me.

With no power to struggle from the previous painful experience, I just stood still with blank eyes, waiting. I was numb, screaming in agony on the inside, trying to stay awake, but my eyes won’t listen.

They were slowly closing. But she wouldn’t let me go unconscious. She injected me with that damn solution and watched me, drunk with madness, as I writhed in pain. God, from the moment I get out of here, I won’t have any mercy.

She paused and contemplated every answer I was giving to her horrific experiment, every response to the pain I was feeling. She probably wanted to weaken me enough to start the blood transfusions. At this rate, I will be so frail that I will not be able to retaliate later.

I already got used to the agony, and it seemed like it had been there for an eternity. I simply ignored it, fixing a spot on the ceiling, and watched it lost as this serum made its way through my entire body, poisoning it.

“Don’t worry, this will only take a minute and will not affect the quality of your blood. It is so hilarious how you just lay here, almost dead, but not quite with all the powers you possess and yet you cannot use them on me to free yourself. We have to thank Noah for that.”

I heard her voice as if in a dream, barely discerning her hateful words.

“When the world is preparing for radical changes, you, my dear Teresa, will prepare for your death!
