Chapter 27 HIS ALONE

Chapter 27 HIS ALONE
Esmery, Akilah, and Damien stepped out of the house, their laughter ringing through the cool evening air. The three of them were in high spirits, still caught up in the drama from earlier. They couldn't stop replaying the moment when Monica, Hank, Astrid, and Diego had realized just how much trouble they'd stirred up.
‎
‎"Did you see their faces?" Akilah laughed, nearly doubling over. "Priceless!"
‎
‎Esmery snickered, shaking her head. "I swear, I thought Monica was going to choke on her own rage. And Diego… the look on his face was like someone had stolen his last piece of cake.”
‎
‎Damien, equally amused, joined in. "Hank was practically speechless, like he's been living in a fantasy world where his model girlfriend was the only thing that mattered. Poor guy’s gonna get blindsided when reality hits."
‎
‎The trio burst into more laughter, but their fun came to a halt when a sleek black car rolled up and stopped in front of them. The driver lowered the window, a serious look on his face.
‎
‎“Madam, please, I must take you back home. The boss is waiting,” the driver said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
‎
‎Esmery raised an eyebrow, her playful expression faltering for a moment. “Where’s Jayden?” she asked, her voice laced with curiosity.
‎
‎The driver shifted nervously on his feet, clearly uncomfortable with the question. Damien and Akilah exchanged knowing glances before teasing her mercilessly.
‎
‎Esmery shot them a pointed look. “I’m not some damsel in distress,” she said with a wink, before turning back to the driver. "But I’ll play along."
‎
‎As she entered the car, Damien leaned toward Akilah, whispering teasingly, “Guess Jayden’s possessiveness is making her all flustered now.”
‎
‎Akilah grinned, nudging him with her elbow. “You mean it’s only a matter of time before she gets dragged back into his control? That man is obsessed with her.”
‎
‎The car drove off, leaving the two of them chuckling behind.
‎
‎At home, Esmery headed straight to her and Jayden’s shared room. Her mind was still whirling from the events, but she needed a moment to unwind. She grabbed a soft bathrobe, wrapped it around herself, and then headed for the bathroom. The warm water of the bathtub felt soothing against her skin as she sank in, trying to calm her thoughts.
‎
‎Back at Monica’s house, Diego had just finished consoling Astrid, who was still trying to collect herself after the confrontation. Diego could feel the weight of her words, though he didn’t want to admit it. She’d been telling him things things that made him uneasy, things about her disappearances, the strange way she sometimes acted. It made him wonder if she was truly as innocent as she appeared. Still, part of him didn’t want to believe the worst.
‎
‎As the conversation died down, Diego’s eyes narrowed. He knew now that Esmery wasn’t just some passing fling in his life. She was something more and the fact that she might be with someone else made his blood boil. He picked up his phone and dialed David’s number.
‎
‎“David, I need you to keep an eye on Esmery,” he said, his voice cold with jealousy. “I want to know who she’s involved with. Where she goes, who she’s seeing, everything. I want to know if she’s engaged or tied up with someone else. She’s mine, and no one else is going to take her away from me.”
‎
‎What Diego didn’t realize was that Jayden had been standing just behind him, having overheard the entire conversation. A chill ran through him, but his eyes darkened with the protective instinct that flared within him. He wouldn’t let Diego come near Esmery not if he could help it.
‎
‎" Oh! It looks like I have to pay him a surprise visit" Jayden thought.
‎
‎Without saying a word, Jayden turned and snuck out, heading straight for his motorcycle. He revved the engine and sped off toward home, his thoughts a whirlwind of protective rage.
‎
‎When Jayden returned home, the house was eerily quiet. Every part of the house felt still, as if waiting for something. He moved silently, his steps light and careful. As he passed their bedroom, his eyes caught sight of the bathroom door just as it creaked open.
‎
‎Inside, Esmery lay in the bathtub, her body relaxed and her breathing slow. Jayden’s heart softened at the sight of her, but the worry that had been gnawing at him all night returned. He carefully lifted her from the water, drying her skin gently with a towel. His movements were tender, as though he didn’t want to disturb the peacefulness she had found.
‎
‎Once she was dry, he picked out a set of sexy lingerie something elegant yet daring and gently dressed her. His hands moved with careful attention to detail, wanting to make her feel comfortable and beautiful. He blow-dried her hair, watching the strands fall around her face, framing her features perfectly.
‎
‎He laid her back on the bed, his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer than he intended. But before he could move, he stepped into the bathroom for his own shower.
‎
‎When he returned, he froze.
‎
‎The lingerie Esmery had been dressed in had shifted, now bunched up around her thighs, her long legs exposed. Her hair still carried a wet sheen, her body glistening under the soft light from the room. The sight of her, so alluring and completely unguarded, stirred something deep within Jayden. His heart raced as he walked toward her, unable to resist the temptation any longer.
‎
‎He leaned in close, his lips brushing softly against her neck, tasting her skin. His hands hovered near her, barely touching, as he tried to control the rush of emotions swirling inside him.
‎
‎But Jayden wasn’t just acting out of desire. He wanted Esmery to know she was his completely, utterly his.
