His Mate
His Mate
"I SAID STOP!" Ezra screamed, pushing her down from his lap as he glared at her with wide eyes.
Scythe looked at him with an offended expression. "You know what, Ezra?" She chided, "I am getting extremely tired of your whining and your mood swings." She spat, standing up, leaving him on the ground but he wasn't even listening to a single word coming out of her mouth.
His mind was otherwise occupied.
Scythe gave him a hateful look, "and get a fucking grip, for Sorin's sake! You're the bloody God of Death!" She then stomped out of his room, banging the door on her way out.
Ezra then stood up, looking around the room that had been his for as long as he could remember.
Thick black marble made the floor, with white veins here and there while even his walls had been painted in the darkest shades of onyx and gold. A circular bed with satin gold sheets and cushions was placed against the wall in front of him and in one corner of the room, a grand piano was placed in front of a small bar counter, carrying all forms of liquors. And in the other side of the room, there was a long shelf, filled to the brim with books.
He felt cold breeze entering the room from the long window to his right as he turned his gaze to look out into the view of his vast realm before he hung his head low and went to sit down on the bed with a defeated sigh.
"The fuck am I going to do about this!" He whispered to himself, closing his eyes briefly as he ran his hand through his inky hair.
That was when a stabbing ache appeared in his back and he doubled over, reaching his hand to his shoulder blade.
"What the hell?" He mumbled when he didn't feel any injury.
The pain he felt was so real that he closed his eyes for a brief moment and what he saw then, was enough to make his blood run cold.
It had been a vision of some woman attacking Valerie, his mate, and stabbing her fatally.
Ezra gasped loudly as he opened his eyes when he felt the effect of another knife stabbing into his back.
He furrowed his brows in confusion.
He didn't know who the woman with Valerie had been. He didn't know why she had stabbed her in the back. He was even surprised to realize the fact that the bond between him and Valerie had already begun to manifest itself.
Shaking his head, he closed his eyes and focused on finding Valerie.
He had to know where she was now. He had to save her.
He knew that he didn't want her to be a part of his life, however, there was no denying the fact that the desire to save her was greater than anything he had ever felt before.
He tugged at the gossamer string of their newly found bond as he tried to reach out to her end, hoping to find out where she was or if she was even alive.
He knew that if she died then she would come directly into his own realm but he didn't want that for her.
He wanted to help her, even if that meant breaking his own rules about changing inevitable death.
And that was when her image appeared in his mind once again like a fog clearing up.
In an unknown forest, she laid shivering on the cold, hard ground, breathing weakly, as her eyes threatened to close forever.
Panic struck deeply in his heart as he conjured up his powers in the palm of his hand and then, into a black smoke, he disappeared entirely.
All that mattered to him, at this moment, was making sure that she wouldn't die. He couldn't accept that thought.
Not when he had just found his mate.
