The chosen
17.
The Chosen.
The air went still, even the crickets took solace at the sight in front of them. This was probably one of the last things that they would ever have imagined to witness.
Gasps poured out of people's lips as they watched her in the air.
Aria was far gone, almost getting to the height of the trees.
Anna yanked Kael's shirt, "do something. Stop her from doing something that she would regret."
Kael, who had been watching from the corner of his room, didn't think that there was any remedy to this situation because the girl in question had gone beyond borders.
She was no longer operating on a small scale instead she was ready to fight whoever stood in her way and that couldn't be contended with.
"You brought it upon yourself by acting so tacky. Everyone needs to watch the consequences so that next time they don't make the mistake of thinking that she would be this forgiving." He approved
This was what he had been waiting for, for many years and now that it was finally manifesting someone wanted to stop that flow? He wasn't going to watch that happen.
"If you've gotten better at your craft, there's only one thing to do, come down slowly darling." Kael's voice turned pleading.
He wouldn't have it any other way because now she was living to have full expectations and he could only demand better from her.
"I know that you are angry at these people as you should be. But you've also learned how to control your powers. Please do not go off on them and become a monster like Penelope.'
Blasts of light blazed throughout the entire clearing.
Penelope shivered as she became the target. Everyone knew that whoever got to this stage first was declared the leader of the clan and now that this was made a witness in the presence of everyone, she had lost whatever moral standing she thought she had.
This wasn't how things were supposed to pan out.
"I'm so sorry, Aria." Penelope apologized to Aria. She looked like she was having a hard time understanding the first thing when did came to mingling with this woman but most importantly she realized that she didn't have anything to talk about whatsoever
It was crazy that everyone decided that she just needed to follow whatever they had talked about and that was enough for them.
She would never allow herself be subjected to such torture, both emotionally and physically because then it's spoke ill about her person.
"Maybe I'm not just ready for insubordination." Aria growled.
Kael was pleased that now everyone was going to stay away from her after seeing what happened. It didn't take so much before people stay away from certain people
What was also crazy was the fact that everybody would now know that she wasn't to be messed with and dealt with so much care
"Know that nothing will be done against her person if we leave." He immediately sought a bargain.
He knew that Penelope would only bide her time, and wait for the perfect time to strike to make everything look beautiful in her eyes.
It was also one thing to be deeply involved with this, it was another to watch things appear colorfully.
"We promise that she doesn't have to worry about anything in particular. We would stay out of her hair." Anna and Stella chorused.
Even if they had little to nothing to do with her, she had revealed her abilities to the world and now nobody was going to look at her the same way.
It was just according to what people had thought about her and if she was not careful enough, everyone was going to leave.
"So, how do you expect me to deal with you after you have told the world not to allow me to relax." Aria's venom almost poured out on everyone who didn't move faster away.
"I see that you've been talking to a lot of people but that is not going to help you. It is only going to put you at a more disadvantageous position." Kael responded on their behalf.
He couldn't care less if people like Penelope were taken out of the way but on the flip side he knew the danger of going ahead with your problems and making others pay.
People were bound to start doing things that you hated only because you had shown that you didn't want them around.
The first step to eliminating any kind of threat was making sure that nobody thought that they were able to kick out anyone who didn't serve their purposes.
Secondly, he had always known that darkness resided in her if she gave it a chance and was capable of destroying things in one split second if nobody paid enough attention.
"Everyone, go down on your knees. You are standing before the moon elected. I do not mind your status or power. If you do not do what I say, then you are in the danger of losing your mind." Kael flung more threats at them, helping that they did not counter his order.
Everyone went on their knees again. This solidified Aria's reign as the most elected and henceforth no one was going to trouble her over matters which didn't make sense.
"Now that it's out of the way, let's go ahead with what is more important to us. We don't have time to start fighting each other, trying to restore balance and order. The only thing we have time for is to ensure that nobody breaches the safety code and comes over here fighting until no one can escape." Kael stepped up his role as the custodian of peace and order.
Penelope fumed but sadly no he could be done to help her out of her dilemma. Everyone had moved on from what she considered right and did what they believed was better for themselves, refusing to let anyone come in between them and freedom.
"We need to vote. If you do not want Penelope around here anymore, kindly raise your hands." Anna broke the silence.
