Eyes in the dark

Danger Stranger
11.

Aria's leaped in her chest, sensing that this person wasn't just a normal wolves and like she would have liked him to be.

The stranger hummed, yet casting intense looks at her. "Do not fear. I'm not here to cause you harm."

Such reassurance would be meaningless to her because then it showed that she was still in high danger and had no means of escape.

"I suppose you didn't come in through the gates."

"You're right."

If he wasn't Lucien, then who the hell was he and how did he gain access into this arena without Kael learning of it?

She reached deep into the Rune, seeking its courage and strength to destroy this man if he turned out to be harmful.

"I know what you are and everything that you are supposed to do. You don't need to fight me because I'm not out to get you."

"I belong to a long line of wolves who have also been chosen by the moon goddess. You are not as special as you think you are." His dark voice send chills down her spine.

A braggart!

"You speak so well for someone who behaves this way. I would be shocked if you aren't with your troops." She continued hoping that if she went on with this, she would be able to reach out for help.

"You need to come save us. We have been expecting the moon goddess elected." His demands echoed throughout the room.

"Your name is paramount if I would be assisting you."

The stranger's eyes contorted into a temper "If I knew better, I would have taken the Alpha King's offer." He remarked.

If Aria wasn't scared before, now she was. "You want me to come over to where you live."

He adjusted his cape, "No, help us win the battle against the king. He has wiped off our traces from the Earth. We cannot stay hidden anymore. Especially now that you are Awakening."

"No, I cannot guarantee saving an entire group."

"You have no choice. The moment you decided to take up this role. Everyone got informed and we have been waiting for you." He spoke.

If this wasn't a conferment of duty, she didn't know what else was. Her life wasn't as private as she thought it was.

"I would have to disappoint you."

Sadness flickered in the stranger's eyes for a minute before fading off.

From the look of things, he had expected that she would come along with him and she had disappointed him.

"Wait, why can't you reach out to other elected?"

"You are the right person for the job. Everyone else pales in comparison." He delivered the sad news.

"Why?"

"Aria?" Kael's voice filtered in through the door. "I heard you talking to someone."

The slight distruction served as ample opportunity for the stranger to escape.

Kael pushed her door open, glassing around are still he expected to find someone in there.

"Is there a problem?" She whispered.

"Someone was in here. Who was it?" Kael's nose remain perched in the air. "Why didn't you call me?" His tone turning accusing.

"No one is supposed to see you before you are ready to be launched into the world. I do not care how long it takes, but I'm sure you understand what I mean,"

"Yes." Aria nodded.

She was still reeling over the fact that there wasn't going to be a means of saving those people no matter how much she tried.

Delving into narration, kael's eyebrows scrunched in ire, "nothing but a deceiver. He isn't here on any official assignment. He is one of the Lanvins. Cruel, ever-seeking injustice, and looking for people to deceive to come to be on their side." He sneered.

Shock filled Aria's eyes, having once read about them in the Pack library. They were one of the hardest to get rid of.

"I need your ears and eyes in perfectly working condition. Do not listen to anybody else besides me as you cannot be sure of their intention towards you, no matter how much they try." He warned.

Her stomach rumbled at the impending doom.

If she wasn't careful enough someone would have lured her into following him and wreaked havoc on her.

After what felt like an eternity of training, she finally caught her breath. It was almost as though Kael was punishing her from not being in touch with reality and wanted to drum it into her ears that she had made a mistake of trusting the wrong person.

She didn't think that there was anything wrong in discussing with someone perhaps she would be able to receive more clarity.

"I need a break."

"The only break you are getting is when you have been able to identify the ship from the wolves and these guides you in whatever decisions that you take." He dismissed her complaints.

Aria's anger shot to the roof, "I made no mistake in listening to what the stranger had to say."

Kael's hardened gaze fell on her. "You might see this as me being extra but I see it as your life been threatened and you do not even know the slightest thing about it. You know what is good? You are going to train until you learn how to call for help when you are surrounded by imposters." He sneered.

Aria couldn't believe her ears. Kael had always been hard on her but she believed that they had crossed the boundaries of just being a trainee and trainer.

"What exactly prompted your decision?"

"The same thing that prompted me to making the decision to keep every gifted safe. I am not going to let you lose sight on the prize, even if that means drilling you to the point where you no longer recognize yourself." He sneered.

"So you are saying that you are going to be mean to me for no reason?"

"The end always justifies the means." He walked away, leaving Aria to catch up with his long strides.
