Chapter 73 Chapter 73: Leaving in Disappointment
Luckily, his shirt absorbed most of the heat, sparing his chest from burns.
"Oh no! I’m so sorry. You should take off your shirt and wash it with cold water before your skin blisters.”
Grinding his teeth in frustration, Balthazar went to the bathroom to clean himself. Damn it, he thought. He was a fool to have come here. It was clear she had no intention of letting him leave.
Hmph, after this, he would never set foot here again.
While Balthazar was in the bathroom, Amelia quickly searched for his phone and unlocked it using the old password.
She knew that Balthazar hated dealing with hassle, so he wouldn’t have changed it.
Sure enough, a soft “click” sounded, and the screen lit up.
Amelia opened Zalo, found Selena’s contact, and made a call.
At Balthazar’s private villa.
By this time, Selena had just finished preparing a lavish meal. She’d even set out wine and candles. Though the dishes were traditional, the combination of East and West brought a romance that was hard to describe.
Glancing at her phone, Selena murmured:
"He should be on his way home by now, right?
Ring ring...
The sudden sound of her phone startled her. Seeing that it was a video call from Balthazar, she felt a bit surprised. He was probably driving home—why would he call?
Curious, she answered, but as soon as the screen lit up, she saw a face she detested.
"Why is it you?”
This was Balthazar’s phone—why was Amelia holding it?
Seeing Selena’s angry yet panicked expression, Amelia smirked in satisfaction. Glancing at the food on the table, she mocked:
"Oh, you were preparing dinner? Too bad Balthazar is staying with me tonight. He’s in the shower as we speak.
She turned the phone toward the bathroom, where the frosted glass door revealed the silhouette of a man inside.
The height and build were unmistakably Balthazar’s.
Then, Amelia added:
"You don’t believe me, do you? Well, you should recognize his car keys, right?”
She waved the keys in front of the camera. Selena felt a cold chill wash over her, her heart racing uncontrollably.
"Selena, you’ve schemed so much, but in the end, you still lost to me. You’re so pathetic, ha ha...
Click.
Selena abruptly ended the call, but Amelia’s triumphant laughter still echoed in her mind. Lost? She said Selena had lost?
No. She had already dragged William down with her—how could that be losing?
But... Balthazar, the man she loved, was with Amelia right now!
Selena clutched her head, trembling uncontrollably.
Why, even after changing her appearance, could she still not win against Amelia? After all this revenge, what did she have left?
"Ugh…”
Suddenly, a wave of nausea hit, and Selena rushed to the bathroom to vomit violently.
After emptying the contents of her stomach, she slumped weakly against the cold wall.
What was happening to her? Her head hurt, her body ached, and she felt like throwing up again...
Selena’s eyes widened as a thought struck her. She touched her stomach, disbelief spreading across her face.
Could it be?
She rushed to her bedroom, grabbed a pregnancy test, and moments later, two lines appeared. Selena sank to the floor, dazed.
Her child… had returned to her.
She felt both joy and worry. Did Balthazar love her? If not, would he be like the god Rabanut and take her child away?
No, she couldn’t allow that to happen!
Steeling herself, Selena gathered her belongings and stepped out of the villa.
Before disappearing into the dark night, she glanced back at the place she had called home for the past year, then turned and walked away.
Balthazar, I hope we never meet again.
Amelia was pleased when she saw that Selena had hung up in anger. Just as she was about to delete the call record, the phone was suddenly snatched from her hand.
Balthazar shouted angrily:
"Who gave you permission to touch my phone?"
Then, when he saw the video call notification in Selena’s account, he flew into a rage, grabbing Amelia’s shoulder and yelling:
"What did you say to Selena?"
Amelia put on a frightened expression, her eyes filling with tears as she replied:
"I didn’t say anything. I accidentally called her, but I quickly hung up…"
"Liar! The call lasted two minutes. How is that quick?"
Balthazar pushed Amelia onto the bed, screaming. His behavior and expression now resembled a madman who had lost all reason, making her a bit scared. But when she remembered how much he had loved her before, she figured he wouldn’t hurt her, so she boldly lifted her head to try to kiss him.
Balthazar reacted swiftly, stepping back and gritting his teeth as he spat out each word:
"You damn lunatic!"
Slap!
Balthazar slapped Amelia hard across the face, knocking her flat on the bed, where she curled up, clutching her face.
He wasn’t the type to be violent or bully the weak, but Amelia had crossed the line, so she couldn’t blame him for being cruel.
Balthazar grabbed his keys and rushed out. As he ran, he called Selena, but she had already blocked his number.
Damn it!
He pounded the steering wheel with his fist before speeding down the road.
Back at the house, Amelia was still dazed from the slap. She hadn’t even recovered from the shock of being hit when she realized Balthazar had already left. She hurriedly got up, holding her face as she tried to chase after him, but just as she reached the door, she ran into a solid chest.
"So, you’ve been hiding here, letting Balthazar take care of you, huh?"
Amelia backed away from the man standing before her.
"No! Don’t come any closer! This is Balthazar’s house, and he won’t let you get away with this."
Click!
The front door closed, and the man removed his cap, revealing a menacing and sinister face.
"Good, I’ve been waiting for him to come here."
…
When Balthazar arrived at his private villa, he rushed upstairs to find Selena.
"Selena, listen to me! There’s really nothing between me and Amelia…"
