It was the day when we were supposed to leave the pack for the capital. Gamma Dylan was left behind to make sure no chaos would erupt when we were away from the pack. I picked a single bag, containing only necessities and our clothes. Alexander locked the cabin and we went straight to the pack house. We were first to arrive, and we waited for the others. I wore a frilled wrapping dress that reached my knees. And long boots. My locks were tied in a high ponytail. My curtain bangs covered the scar on my face perfectly.
The moment Luna Mira saw me holding Alexander's hand, ready to go with the platoon, I watched her smile fading and her face turned red with anger. “What is she doing here?” Luna Mira asked Alexander angrily. The way she was gritting her teeth while glaring at me, made me reconsider the whole plan.
Alexander was quicker than I thought. He pulled me behind his tall figure. He opened his mouth to answer Luna Mira but Alpha Damon beat Alexander to that. “She is Alexander's mate. Of course, she has to come with us. It's no news.” Alpha Damon sounded irritated.
I couldn't tell if it was because of me or because of the fact that his mate was stupid. Well, actually, she was a cunning bitch. Before anyone could have said anything else, Callista ran into the pack house, holding back her tears.
I thought Luna Mira would follow her but instead, she stayed behind to belittle me even more. “How can you do this to your own child? You know what that bitch did to Callie.” My hold on Alex's hand tightened as I listened to Luna Mira puking fire against me. I never got the chance to ask her why she was so mean to me.
Alexander intertwined his fingers with mine. As if he wanted to show everyone that I was his mate. “Alpha, if there is a conflict with me taking my mate to the capital for the meeting. I would like to stay behind, at the pack while Dylan can go with you. I will not go without my mate, with all due respect.” A slightest smile appeared on my face when I heard my mate defend me against the pack's Luna.
But Luna Mira definitely didn't like that. “What? How dare you speak to me like that. And because of that bitch!” Luna Mira growled.
“She is Althea. She is my mate. The beta woman of the pack. And with all due respect, I am supposed to defend her.” Alexander shot back.
“How can you do this to my daughter? She loved you. How can you choose this…” Luna Mira pointed her index finger at me, her face contoured with disgust. “This thing, over my daughter? You could have become the future Alpha of the pack. But you chose this ugly and scared bitch.” I had tears in my eyes when I heard Luna Mira humiliating me in front of everyone again.
“THAT'S ENOUGH!” Alpha Damon's howl shook the land we stood on. Everyone bowed, even the Luna.
“I don't need to remind you, Mira, what your daughter was doing, and the reason why Alexander left her. She is responsible for what she has now. And Alexander has the right to choose a woman who is like him. Not a cheater like Callista.” Alpha Damon was scolding his mate without thinking.
“This meeting is important for us all. If you can't stop being a dramatic bitch, it's better you stay behind. I don't want you embarrassing me in front of the Alpha King.” Alpha Damon growled angrily. Luna Mira was quick to shut her mouth. She didn't want to be left behind. Once it all settled, we all got into our cars. I was grateful that Alexander and I were in Alex's car instead of riding with Alpha. I didn't want to be anywhere near them.
