ALTHEA
The king was turning sixty that year. And he wanted to pass his throne to someone. While everyone suspected it would be the only heir to the throne, Mira Luna started spreading rumors that Orlando would be the new King. And she was constantly pressuring princess Freya to make sure it would happen. Callista was also flying, thinking she would be getting princess treatment after. And Luna Mira, she wanted to be treated like a queen.
A festival was held at the capital and all the shifters were welcomed. All the alphas were invited to the palace, along with their families and their Alpha team with their families. “I can't go! I am not going. I would rather stay here, back at the pack.” Alexa was following me through the house as I was tidying up the place, begging me to come with him. But I refused to listen to him.
Since he found out that everyone was invited with their spouses, he had been trying to convince me. He came back home with the news. “Why not? You are my spouse. You must come with me.” Alexander asked me, behaving like a child.
“No! I don't want to leave. Please, don't force me.” I didn't want to have that conversation. And Alexander just wouldn't listen. I was ready to walk away when he suddenly grabbed me by my arm and pulled me to his hard chest.
I gasped, colliding with his chest. “I want the reason why you don't want to come with me.” Alexander sounded very serious. I tried to break free from the hold but he wouldn't budge.
I finally looked up at his face. “I don't want to embarrass you in front of everyone. And I don't want Luna Mira to make it difficult for you as well. Please, just leave me here. I will be fine. It's just for a day or two maybe.” I tried to act strong. Part of me didn't want him to leave. But then I would look at my face in the mirror and I would want him to just leave. Just leave me back at home where I would be a nobody.
Before I could have said anything else, he slammed his lips on mine in an angry kiss. I moaned a few times in his mouth but he wouldn't let go. Almost a minute later when he pulled away, I was literally gasping for air. “You are my mate. And you will come with me. I feel proud of the brave girl who fought with her own parents because she didn't want to betray her pack and her alpha.” With wide eyes, I was staring into his eyes as he spoke to me.
“Do you know? Your wolf wears this scar of yours on her face as well. As a signature of pride. Because you fought your own rogue parents and a bunch of wild rogues to save the alpha's blood. Back then, you didn't have a wolf to protect you or heal you.” When I didn't say anything, he kept on going.
“The past had not been kind to you. But you should never be ashamed of your scars. They tell the tales of your brave acts. You should be proud of them like I am proud of you.” Alex was caressing the scar I had on my face with the pad of his thumb. He was gentle and his touch was making me purr like a kitten in his arms.
“I will protect you. But I want my mate with me. Would you trust me enough to come with me to the capital? I swear I will make sure you never regret trusting me.” Alexander whispered softly while gazing dreamily in my eyes.
