ALEXANDER
My eyes were wandering around. I heard her chuckle as she sat up on the dusty ground. "Labelling me as the daughter of the traitors. Yet these people take everything I had in my house. I didn't come home for a day and they even stole my underwear. I can't continue. I need to find another job to feed myself." I was shocked yet again as I heard her.
Looked like, she was finally starting to understand how this world actually worked. Only if she would have understood it a little earlier. I looked at the little bunny in her hands and my eyes widened. It was the bunny my mom sewed with her own two hands. I had one like this. My mom made two. One for me and one for Althea.
"You still have this bunny?" I asked her in a low tone. Her house was empty. Those cruel people didn't leave a single piece of bread, or ration or a bulb in her cabin. Yet she was still holding onto that bunny as if her life depended on it. It was neither dirty, nor was it damaged. As if she took a very good care of that bunny.
At some point, Callista took mine and I never learned what she did to it. Because I never got to see it. She thought I cared for it more than I cared for Callista. As soon as Althea heard my question, she smiled and pulled that bunny to her chest. "It's something I received with unconditional love. My parents used to love me. But not as much as your parents. I can never forget them." She had tears in her eyes as she talked about my parents.
"Come on! Get up. You can't stay here anymore. These people will rob you every day. And soon, assholes will start visiting you to get your body. I can't let that happen. Gather your stuff, you are coming with me." I ordered her. She didn't have much choice but to stand up. She went into closet. She came out within a few minutes. She had a small backpack in her hands. I frowned in confusion, but I didn't ask her anything.
I already knew that the people living around her emptied her home. I started walking ahead and she followed me without uttering a single word. As soon as we stepped out of her cabin, I saw Orlando walking toward us. As soon as he saw Althea, a wide grin appeared on his face. He was approaching her.
I was gritting my teeth in anger when suddenly, Althea turned to her side. She was holding the ham of my shirt as she hid behind me. I wanted to smirk back at that bastard. But he clearly didn't take the hint. He turned toward Althea. "I have been looking for you, Althea. Where have you been?" Orlando spoke as he grabbed Althea's hand.
Althea snatched her had away from his grip and hid behind me again. "What is wrong with you? Why are you behaving like I am some stranger?" Orlando's question made me angry. But who was I to tell him off. I snatched my shirt from her grip and tried to walk away. But Althea grabbed my hand instead.
"I don't have anything to say to you. Haven't you fooled me enough? Just go away. Let me live my life in peace." I was suddenly feeling so proud of Althea when she told him off. Without waiting for him to respond, Althea started walking and I did the same. It looked like I was pulling her away, but in reality, she was walking away, holding my hand.
Excitement shot through my body as our skin came in contact. I took her to my cabin. It was not so big. I gave her my parent's bedroom, since no one lived into that room anymore. "You can settle in for today. We will go out and get you some clothes and accessories. From tomorrow, we are starting your training again. And since you are now a werewolf, I will not be going easy on you anymore." I spoke in a low tone.
She slowly nodded her head. With that, I stepped out of her room. I left her alone so she could relax for a while. "It was entertaining to watch him get insulted by a mere teen. I would like to see more of those scenes." Baron growled in excitement and I couldn't hold the chuckle that was sitting at the tip of my tongue.
ALTHEA
As soon as he stepped out of the room, I released the breath that I was holding for only goddess knew how long. Something was different. Not just about him, but between us as well.
The moment I grabbed his hand, I felt electric current running through my veins. My heart was pounding against my rib cage. And my breathing was shallow. That sensation gave me the strength to speak up my mind. To tell Orlando off. After everything he had done to me, he had the audacity to come looking for me.
"He came on time. If Alex would have been a little late, you would have died inside that cabin and no one would have cared." I heard that familiar voice inside of my head. The voice I heard the moment I grabbed Alexander's hand. She growled the word mate loudly inside of my mind. I knew at that moment that I was listening to my wolf's voice for the very first time.
"You are my wolf, right?" I asked her and she growled in response. It was like she hardly had any strength in her. It was understandable. After the first shift, mostly the wolves get exhausted.
"But that's not the reason why I am like this. I am a weak wolf. I can't help you be strong. In fact, you are stronger than me." She replied in a gruffy voice, as if she was feeling sleepy. I wanted to talk to her more but I could feel her strength draining from her.
"You can at least tell me your name." I asked her, wanting to know name before she would fall asleep. But unfortunately, I was served with nothing but silence. She had already fallen asleep.
