Chapter 43 Bitter Relatives

Chapter 43 Bitter Relatives
"Well, hopefully you can get caught up, then you won't be so stressed," I said, trying to encourage him, and get off the subject. James is the world's biggest man child. I swear, he wouldn't know real work if it hit him in the face. But I care about him anyway. I want him to be happy in his career choice and in our life together... whenever that would be.

Our 'lunch date' was a half hour of him complaining about work and how hard it was on him. He told me how stressful it was to have his boss constantly over his shoulder and asking for time management reports on top of his normal work... whatever that means.

I know he's trying... But sometimes I wish he'd ask about me. I want to tell him how my day was and what is stressing me out. But he never asks. He just assumed it's always Beth, and stopped asking ages ago. He has no clue that he is now one of my major stresses. But how can I tell my boyfriend 'you are stressing me out' without coming off as rude?

But James is the least of my stresses the last couple weeks.

Last Thursday I came home and Uncle Jay was drunk off his ass. The whole damn house was a mess, and bottles were thrown against the walls.

He looked at me the moment I stepped into the house. His eyes were blood shot, and he smelled like a brewery. The man couldn't even stand up straight! I swear he was gonna fall on his ass and I'd just leave him there!

"JOSIE! WHERE THE HELL IS THE MONEY..." he listed to the left. "I NEED MORE BEER..." hiccup "YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU AND YOUR DAMN SISTERS PUT ME THROUGH..." he snarled, trying to charge for me, but stumbled and I just walked past him.

No, he most certainly did not need more beer! And the hell I was handing over my card with what little money I had on it just so he could get completely plastered and beat the hell outta me again. He has enough money to keep him alive, that's good enough. Most of the money he uses on booze doesn't even belong to him. It was the Turner family money he's been squandering for years.

As usual, Aunt Beth was bitching that I wasn't bringing in enough money. She needed extra because Ava is turning 16 in a month and she needed the perfect sweet 16.

"I need more money Josie! YOU CAN'T HIDE IT FROM ME FOREVER! You and your family have been living in our home for 5 damn years! It's the least you can do! I need it for Ava's party! You know she's having her sweet 16! She wants everything to be perfect. We can't do what she wants unless I get more damn money out of you! I know you are sleeping around to get more money... So hand it over!" She was full on rant, and all I wanted to do was punch the bitch in the face.

"I am not paying for your little brat to have a sweet 16!" I sneered. "Not when she's a damn liar and a thief. She can go get her own job and work her money herself... Or, here's an idea! YOU GET OFF YOUR ASS AND WORK FOR YOUR OWN MONEY!" I snarled.

"You little bitch! After everything I've done for you! You don't deserve anything! We should've kicked you out of our house! You slut!" She charged right at me, claws already extended and a crazy look in her eye.

Of course it ended up with my face black and blue again. It was worth it. I didn't let her get me as much as normal, but I still got scraped up. Hailey was furious when she saw my face the next day, but I placated her by telling her I tore out a chunk of her hair, and her manicure was completely ruined and I'm paying for her next one!
