Chapter 241 Charging
Trent's POV
I don't know how the hell I kept my speed within manageable limits. I only ended up 10 over the limit. Thank God there were no cops out that seemed to care about me pushing the limits today.
Maybe everyone filled their quota for the month... Even if they did pull me over, I'd tell them exactly why the hell I was breaking the limits at this time of night and have them confirm it.
You might think that after driving for almost 3 straight hours, I'd be a little calmer than I had been back at the station. But I'm not. In fact, my body is coiled with pent-up nerves.
I talked to the officers that are currently surrounding Charlie right now. I almost want them to go in without me; but then again, I want to be there when they break in. I'm so fucking confused...
But Officer Benson promised he'd wait for me to get there. I know he's setting up for breaking in to save my girl. I wonder if he's been casing the place to see if there are any other people on the property who are involved in this... I don't know if he did this on his own or not. I do know Melissa somehow is involved in this.
I sigh as I skid to a stop in front of an old building that will forever be played out as a horror movie in my mind. I don't know how long it will take for me to go to sleep and not see this image imprinted on my brain.
"Trent?" And officer came up to meet me. It's a little dark, but I can see his name patch. I guess this is Officer Body.
I nod my head. "Are they still in there?" I demand, looking around in the dark, like I suddenly developed x-ray vision and can see through the walls.
"No one has been in or out of the building since we arrived," he promises. "Are you ready for this? We don't know what we are going to find when we enter," he warns me.
"I need to get my girl. I don't give a shit what is going on in there!" I grit out, still trembling with uncontrolled anxiety. I need to do this for my own peace of mind. I need to be there to hold her. And maybe once she's in my arms again, I'll finally believe it's all over.
"Understood. I need you to put this vest on in case of gun fire," he states handing me a Kevlar vest.
I didn't even think about the fact Jay could be crazy enough to carry a gun. Then again, I've never met the bastard. All I know is he's been raping my woman for years, and he's arrogant enough to think he can get away with it again.
But not this time. This time he's going to pay. He is going to suffer for every single thing he's put her through... And possibly her sisters, too.
Quickly, I strap myself in and give a sharp nod, and Officer Body returns it. "Let's go!" he shouts to the waiting officers, all geared up and ready to storm the building.
I follow him, only because I know he knows exactly what he's doing. With how fucking distracted I am right now, I might get myself shot, or worse. Her shot. I can't let that happen.
Suddenly I'm swarmed by officers as we charge into the house of nightmares. For how many bodies are around me, I'm surprised that they are actually very quiet. I'd expect to hear stomping boots or something, but they are quick and silent... very stealthy.
Good thing, because I think this operation is going to need some stealth. I don't want Jay to know what's happening until it's too late. I want him trapped like the fucking rat he is.
I have a sickening feeling in my stomach. Rick had come to this exact place when his wife had been kidnapped... apparently by her ex. And now history is repeating itself... I'm just praying this is the last sister who ends up being kidnapped.
The moment we step into the creepy building the sounds of grunts and growls echo off the walls, bouncing around the empty halls. That along with the cries and whimpers I hear from my girl almost freezes me in my place, but the momentum of forward motion, along with the group of people I'm surrounded by keeps me moving.
Officer Benson leading the charge. We follow him to the first room; the door closed, but that is exactly where the noises are coming from. Not that a damn closed door will stop us from getting inside.
He kicks the door open and a scream of outrage fills the air. I can hear Jay snarl, "WHAT THE FUCK!" and then he grunts.
