Chapter 228 Malicious Intent
"Don't worry, Angel. Whatever is going on, we'll figure it out together. I'm not leaving you!" He states, holding my hand the whole way. Only the fact that he is here with me keeps me from having a nervous breakdown. But then again, I've had a nervous breakdown in front of him before, and he knew exactly what to do... Let's just hope he knows what to do now too.
Trent pulls up into the parking lot, and so far, nothing looks out of the ordinary. Then again, I didn't expect to see anything blaringly wrong the second we pulled in.
Dirk said we would see it when we got here, so whatever it is, it might be obvious, but it's just not here.
Exiting the car, I can hear whispers. I can see students standing around, some of them even pointing at me like they recognize me. How is that even possible?
There are a few students across the lot looking right at me, like they know who I am. Just what is going on? Is it those damn pictures from last night?
I thought Dirk took them down! The thing is, I know at least half the students here aren't virgins. So, it would have to be the fact that the pictures were sent out to everyone that has them looking at me like that. Do they think I wanted to be seen half naked? Are they really that stupid?
"Don't worry, Char. Just breathe. I don't know what the hell they think they know, but we will figure it out," Trent whispers as he wraps his arm securely around me. I lean into him, needing his strength. I'm so glad he is here with me. I don't want to go through this all alone.
His touch is comforting. It's warm, familiar and oh, so protective. Whatever is going on, I know without a doubt he will be by my side, helping me figure this out, just like he promised.
With trepidation, we slowly make our way onto the main campus, and the whispers get louder and the looks seem to range from indifference, to skeptical, to downright disgust.
And then I see it.
And I don't mean 'it', I mean 'them'... The papers that somehow shown up all over campus, flapping in the wind. I don't know what the hell they are, but I know this is the cause of the hostility I'm feeling around me. Many students are gathered around them, and some have even recognized me from the papers.
I don't even know if I want to look, but curiosity gets the better of me. I move to one of the building's that is plastered with them, Trent still securely protecting me.
"Trent? What's going on?" I whisper, scared to even move.
"I don't know, Angel. But we need to find out right fucking now before I blow the whole fucking school down!" he growls, pulling me to the nearest paper.
And then I can finally see what everyone else has seen. I pull one of the papers down, my face plastered across the paper, along with the pregnancy test results, and the abortion notice. All of my information is plastered across the papers for anyone to see.
Tears stream down my face. Someone had spliced them all together in some sort of collage and written across the top was: Charlotte Truner the slut. Pregnant at 17 and hid it by having an abortion. What kind of person does that make her?
Trent is vibrating in fury as he looks down at the paper in my hands. He snatches it from me and pulls me along.
"Come on, Angel. Someone is going to pay for this!" he growls.
He marches into the admin building and goes straight to a faculty member behind a desk, slamming the paper down. "I need to talk to someone! This is illegal! These papers are doctor patient privileged information; no one should have access to these! And she was Fucking underage! This should be sealed somewhere! Someone has to take all these fucking papers down now!" Trent snarls.
The lady looks up, startled, then she looks at the paper and she pales. "Just a moment, sir," she assures him. "I'm calling security, they might be able to help," she says.
For the next half hour, we talked with security and the admin of the school. They both promised they would get to the bottom of whoever was behind this.
"There has to be security footage of the culprit," Mr. Talbot states. "We promise, this won't go unpunished!"
Trent nodded stiffly. "Until then, I'm taking my girlfriend home. It's not safe for her here today," he says through gritted teeth.
No one seemed to disagree with Trent. "It's probably for the best. We'll call if we have any news," the administrator says with a polite smile.
And then Trent took me home.
