Chapter 186 Dealing with Bullies
"Melissa, what do you want?" Trent asks, cool as a cucumber. Good for him, I'm about to have another panic attack. "I'm trying to get ready for class, as you can see. This is not the time for you to make a fucking scene."
Melissa really doesn't like me, and I'm pretty damn sure Trent knows it. The whole fucking high school knew it! It was like their favorite form of entertainment. She's one of the mean girls I actively tried to avoid. For the most part, I did. I could run into classes before the bitch would catch me. She'd accuse me of being a little mouse scurrying away. It's only the truth, but I didn't like the image the name brought me.
But why is she in this class? She never gave any indication she was the least bit interested in anything medical related. She was more worried about her manicures and what she was going to wear to the next party she was going to.
"Don't you miss me, baby? We're going to the same school now! We don't have to break up!" she giggles, then glares at me. "You're in my spot skank."
I'm about to get up when Trent wraps a protective arm around my shoulders, keeping me in place. Shit! Now I can't leave.
"No, she's not. This is Charlie's spot. If she got up and left, I'd be getting up with her anyway. And I didn't break up with you because we were going to be separated, Mel. I broke up with you because you are a bitch and I was tired of you," Trent explains plainly. "Now if you don't mind? You are in our space."
"So, now you're hanging out with white trash like her? You used to have standards, Trent! What the fuck are you hanging around this little whore for?" She snarls. "I bet she's going to use you just like she used all the boys back in high school."
What the hell is she talking about. I never used any of the boys in high school, and I'm pretty damn sure Trent knows this, judging by the look of fury in his eyes.
"Melissa, I was trying to be polite, but if you don't get your face out of mine, I'm making a complaint to the cop. I know for a fact Charlie didn't use anybody... She's not like you who was screwing around behind my back," Trent glares. "Why the fuck are you even here?"
"How dare you accuse me of such a thing? I would never! You were the only one I ever wanted! But as for your other question... I'm studying to be a nurse! I can be your nurse, Trent..." she giggles, trying to sit on his lap.
Only he pushes her off and everyone watching starts laughing at her. I have to avert my eyes from being flashed. It's really disgusting how some women dress these days. I'm starting to wonder if it's a good idea to become Amish... I couldn't wear my jeans, but at least they are modest!
I can't bring myself to even look at her, let alone laugh. I wish I could hurt her as badly as she's hurt me, but that's not really who I am. That's just my anger talking right now.
"HOW THE HELL DID TRAILER TRASH EVEN GET HERE? DID SHE FIND A LITTLE SUGAR DADDY TO PAY FOR HER?" she sneers from the ground, trying to get up on her knees.
I can hear the whispers. I don't know what they are saying, but I'm guessing it has to do with her saying I needed a sugar daddy to come to school. Honestly, I could've gotten a scholarship to pay for everything, but Rick insisted. And I'm not counting him as a sugar daddy! He's my brother!
I can see the assumptions. Wondering if I really am using Trent like Melissa was suggesting. They can think anything they want. It's not the truth.
"For your information, my brother-in-law paid for me to come here," I whisper so only those close enough can hear us. "And even if I was white trash, I still got better grades than you! I earned my right to be here, Melissa. Your daddy might have paid for you to come here, but Richard Kingston is still more powerful than him!"
Trent laughs so loud, it startles me. "Good girl, Angel. Put the bitch in her place. I knew there was a reason I liked you," he winks at me.
My face burns in embarrassment, but something in my chest shifts at the praise. He said he liked me in front of everyone... Including his ex!
"You are taking this fucking bitch over me?" Melissa looks disgusted. "She's a fucking liar! There are reasons no one liked her in school! And how the hell would she even Know Richard Kingston?! She was a little slut and probably only got good grades because she was sleeping with her teachers!" she accuses.
Before anyone could respond, the professor walks in.
"Settle down class, if you can't behave like adults, leave. This is a class, not a daytime drama!" He states, placing his bag on the desk.
Melissa huffs and stalks down a few rows, still fuming as she takes a seat, glaring daggers at me. She can look all she wants. It's not going to change a damn thing.
"Welcome to Bio-chem. The way the class is set up, lectures will be held on Tuesdays and labs on Thursdays..." Professor Lenard starts his lecture, completely ignoring the brat in the front of the room.
But that doesn't stop the other students from looking at me. I have no idea if they will act like adults and ignore the bitch, or if they will actually believe her.
Either way, I don't have time to mess around with the school mean girl. I just need to make it past college so I can live my life the way I chose to.
