Chapter 180 Boy Talk

Chapter 180 Boy Talk
"I wish," she grumbles. "Every damn time they fight, I beg her to break up with him. Honestly, I don't even know why he's stringing her along if he doesn't really want her. She deserves more respect than to have him cheating on her. She needs to break up for good. Well, she tried to today," she admits.

"Really?" I ask, surprised. Liv has always been strong willed, but Braxton seems to know how to push all her buttons to get her to fall all over herself for the bastard. This would be wonderful news if I didn't hear the big 'but' coming.

"Well, yes. She told him to get lost, and she never wanted to see him again. But then Braxton got on his hands and knees and begged her to forgive him," Josie grumbles. "He promised that it was all lies and rumors and he'd never cheat on her."

See? A but!

"Let me guess, she gave him another chance?" I sigh in resignation. "I bet she didn't even ask him why the rumors are going around in the first place. She just gave into him."

I swear if I had to proof that he was cheating on her, I wouldn't hesitate to show her. And then there would be no excuses he could come up with to get back in her good graces. Once she's done with someone, it's over.

"Yes," Josie sniffs. "I wish like hell she could just turn him away. I don't even know why they are together. All they do is argue. How is that making either of them happy? It's not making me happy and I'm just the big sister!" She whines.

I chuckle. Her hormones are giving her a run for her money. But I'd rather have her like this than depressed. I know as much as she complains, she hasn't been so happy in her whole life.

"Baby giving you trouble?" I tease. "My little niece keeping her mommy on her toes?"

"She's my little princess, but she's not letting me sleep! I'm so damn tired right now. And now my ankles are swollen and my back is sore... Rick's been giving me massages, and they do feel so good, but Sophie's been kicking my ass... and my lungs," she chuckles fondly.

"I'm sorry I'm not there for you Jos," I whisper. "Make sure Rick gives you a nice bubble bath tonight and massages your feet. Also, you might want to raise your feet when you lay down," I suggest.

"Thanks, Charlie. And it's okay. I know you are where you are supposed to be. I wish I had the chance to go to school," she grumbles. "So, tell me, how is school going."

There is so much I'd like to tell Josie, but I'm not supposed to stress her out. I also can't tell her about the text... Even if I could, I wouldn't. She doesn't know! And I don't want her to find out. What would she do if she ever heard...

Out of habit, I cover my tummy with my hand, trying to hold back my tears. I can't let my mind wander down that road, or she'll drive down here and demand I come home with her.

But there is something I can tell her...

"Do you remember Trent Miller?" I ask with a soft smile. I'm not sure why I'm bringing him up, other than the fact that I can't get him off my mind today.

"The quarter back the whole school was raving about?" Josie asks.

Of course she would know who I'm talking about. She was a senior when I was a freshman. Josie was never into sports, but she wasn't oblivious to the other students at school.

"Yeah. He's here. And he's in 3 of my classes," I answer.

"I didn't know you two were close..." Josie's fishing, I know this. She wants to know just how close we are and any other information she can dig up.

"We hadn't been, but today he asked me out for coffee, and he decided that he can borrow my notes because he was too busy doodling to actually write down what our teacher was talking about," I smirk.

"Oh my God! Did he really say that?" she giggles. "That boy! As far as I remember, he was a good kid. Popular, but he wasn't a bad guy."

"Yeah, he was popular, but he's also smart. He told me he wants to go into general practice." That is the part I chose to focus on, not the fact that he dated most of the cheerleaders before they got dumped.

"That's great, Charlie! I'm glad you have a friend there with you. I'm sure he'll take care of you, then I won't have to worry about you so much," she sighs.

"I don't want you worrying about me, Jos! You can't stress or Rick will murder me in my sleep," I tease. I know for a fact that Josie isn't the only one worried about me. Rick is worried too, but he won't say anything.

"He would not!" she giggles. "He'd just kidnap you for me because he loves me."

"Well, yes. That I don't doubt," I agree. "But as far as Trent goes, I think... It would be good for me to get to know him?"

Why did it come out like I was asking for Josie's permission?

"Yes, Charlie. I think it would be good for you to get to know him. And I'd love for you to bring him home sometime," Josie hinted.

I blush. "Maybe..."
