Chapter 12 Should've Known

Chapter 12 Should've Known
I'm exhausted, I don't even have the energy to fight with Beth as I enter the door and get smacked into the wall again. Though the action wasn't a surprise, I just don't understand where the extra anger has come from.

My head is spinning and I'm tasting blood. I guess I should have learned by now to brace myself for the first step into this hell hole. And yet, I let her do this to me. I vaguely wonder what she would do if I ever stood up to her... I'm just about to my breaking point with this evil villainess.

"You thief!" Aunt Beth snarls at me, kicking me in the belly. Pain radiates through my center and I lose my breath. My eyes momentarily loose all sight. I blink trying to blink away the black spots, but it seems to be of no use.

I fall to the floor and curl up in a ball as she continues her assault. I lose control of what body part she is attacking with what limb she is flinging my way. All I can do is protect my head or she might just snap my neck...

The thought sends a spark of rebellion into me. If I died, who would take care of my sisters? Surely Beth wouldn't keep them here out of the goodness of her heart, because nothing will ever convince me the wicked witch ever had a heart in that chest of hers.

"What the hell are you talking about," I practically cough out. I know I'm spilling blood on her precious hardwood. If I could I'd be scratching deep grooves through the wood just to see her reaction. I want to throw every damn thing in this house out the window and light the place up while I laugh at the moon. She doesn't deserve any of the objects in this house. They were all paid with blood money.

"Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about! Ava and Olivia came right to me when they found the money back in your room!" Beth roared in anger, as she pulled my head back with my hair. I really hope I don't end up with a bald spot. That would really suck!

"What money? The money you steal from me every single day?" I snarl back. "The money that rightfully belongs to me, but I let you take because I love my sisters more than the money I have?" I demand, spitting the blood from my mouth at her shoes.

"Stop making this about you! You stole my money I was going to use for my manicure today!" she shrieked. "What am I supposed to do now?"

"Then got beg your husband for money! Plus, when the hell have I been home to take my money?!" I demand,. "If I were you, I'd be wondering where the hell your daughter found the money because it sure as hell wasn't from me! If I'd stolen money from myself, I sure as hell wouldn't leave it around for someone to just come walking into my room and casually find it laying around!" I argue, bearing my bloody teeth at the bimbo with zero brain cells.

"What are you talking about? My daughter would never make something up! Its you who are the thief and the liar!" she snarls, slapping my face again at the accusation.

"I should call the cops on all of you," I grumble. "Do you know the only reason I haven't reported you for abuse and extortion?" I snarl shoving my way to my feet. "You know I have the proof! Hailey has the receipts at the store showing how much money she pays me and how much ends up in my bank account. I can show the pictures of the bruises I keep on my phone! I have all I need to get away from you and your lazy ass!" I mock her. "It's because I love my sisters. I know you would punish them if I don't give you what you want."
