Chapter 145 Mommy, let's make a wish!
Three years had passed in a blur and It felt like a lifetime had passed.

Genora, was now a toddler with a full hair of long dark curls and a personality that could command a room, she was currently busy trying to teach Willow how to do some tricks.

She was jumping with excitement as willow followed her instructions, she constantly squealed excitedly, "Mommy, look!" and "willow, up!"

My life had improved in ways I once thought was impossible.

As the CEO of Genevieve Williams Corporation, I had learned to balance the work with being a mom, proving that I could build an empire without losing my self.

I had even returned to acting, accepting a few lead roles that reminded me why I loved my career, and the support that followed felt like milestones in a journey I had once feared would end in a dark river.

Alex had found his own peace. He had completely focused on his company Eco oil, becoming a leader who valued his employees as much as the company's growth, and even with his busy schedule he was home for dinner every single night.

Our family and loved ones were thriving, too.

Tristan had married a kind, soft-spoken lady called Laura a year ago.

Nicholas had ironically, been the one to introduce them. He just didn't know they would end up getting married. Meanwhile he was still insisting on staying single even when we were all worried for him, but I feel he's searching for someone, the right person to match his persona.

Xavier and Lilian had had a girl as their first child, and Lilian had whispered to me one day over tea that the baby was a direct result of her own "revenge punishment" night.

We had both agreed, that our pranking era was officially over. They named her baby Audrey, and both Genora and little Audrey shared the same bond I and Lilian share, they were like sisters.

As for the people who tried to ruin our lives, they are still serving their own share of karma.

Mildred had served her time in jail, but she was released earlier this year but still on strict probation, she was now living in the quiet, suburbs, her acting career was gone and her arrogance had been humbled by the reality of a world that no longer knew her name.

As for the others, Malcolm, Margaret, Viola, even Chase, they were fading away, locked in jail, forgotten by the people who had once feared them.

..................

"Are you sure about this?" Alex asked, his hand finding mine as we made ourselves comfortable in the car.

I had managed to convince Alex to take me to glass lake.

Since our first encounter I dreaded coming to this place, in fact anytime we had come to visit our late moms grave, we would take another route.

But I was finally ready to let go of this memory and move on. I was ready to face my fears.
I looked at the big gates of Glass Lake. It's been four years all together, but I was done avoiding the very memory of the lake that changed my life.

"I'm sure," I Said, taking a deep breath. "It’s time to face it."

Alex gave a tight worried smile, but he didn't try to discourage me anymore, we both knew i needed to get it out of my system, and the best way is to recreate a new better memory instead of the previous traumatic experience.

He started the car and drove out of the estate.

Thankfully with Genora with us the drive was pure joy. She sat in her car seat, singing along to kiddies songs I organized on her tablet. her little hands clapped along with the music.

Willow was older with gray fur now, he sat in the back with his head resting on Genora's thighs, his eyes closed in sleep even with her loud clapping and singing.

When we arrived, the lake was exactly as I remembered it, a vast, shimmering expanse of sapphire blue water that turned completely dark at night.

The summer heat still had light breeze, and the leaves of the surrounding trees were drifting down to land on the surface of the water like confetti.

Genora scrambled out of the car the moment Alex opened the door, her little legs carrying her toward the bridge. Willow followed behind her immediately to protect her, his pace was slower now, his tail wagging softly as he kept a close space behind her.

I stood at the water's edge. And almost immediately, memories flooded back.

The cold, the fast beating of my heart, the trauma, and the crushing weight of a life I thought was over.

But standing here, with the sun on my face and the sound of my daughter’s laughter drifting from the bridge, the memories felt like scenes from a movie I had simply watched and not personally experienced.

Alex came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. He didn't speak. He just held me, his chin resting on my shoulder.

"You okay?" he finally asked, his voice barely a murmur.

I looked at the water, then back at him. "I'm more than okay."

I walked onto the bridge. Alex followed behind me, I stood at the railing, staring into the depths of water where I had once watched to end my life.

"I can't believe I wanted to die here," I whispered with a small smile.

Alex pulled me closer, his chest warm against my back. "I know."

I turned to face him, the breeze catching my hair. "If you hadn't been here that night....if you hadn't jumped in...."

The thought of what would have happened if he hadn't, made me feel goosebumps. I wouldn't have been this happy and most importantly I wouldn't have had my sweet baby Genora and my loving husband Alex.

Alex reached out, cupping my face in his hands. His hands was warm, his touch anchoring me to the present. "But I did. Maybe it was fate, maybe it was a coincidence....or maybe our mothers were watching over us from the other side. But whatever it was.... I am grateful for this precious opportunity to share our lives together and raise our child and future babies together."

I smiled through tears of joy. "Me too."

"You jumped into this river to end your story," Alex whispered, his eyes searching mine.

I reached up, wrapping my arms around his neck. "And the river carried me into yours."

We leaned in, our lips meeting in a kiss that tasted of sunlight and sweet bliss. It was a soft, final promise.

"Mommy! Daddy! Look!"

Genora came running wobbly back toward us, her hands outstretched.

She had found a dandelion flower, a bright, yellow dandelion that had somehow grown by the other side of the bridge close to the waters edge.

She held it out to me, the seeds were already beginning to turn into the white, feathery puff.

"Mommy, let's make a wish!" she chirped in excitedly.

I smiled softly and took the dandelion from her small hand.

I brought the flower to my lips and blew.

The white seeds gently took flight, spiraling into the breeze, dancing over the surface of the water.

Hmm, what do you think I wished for?

THE END.
