Chapter 142 Third wedding
Chapter 142 Third wedding
DANDELION’S POV
It's been five months since Xavier and Lilian's wedding, and most of all it was the month of me and Alex's anniversary, the month we first met at glass lake a year ago.
And of course Grandma Winifred had wanted to use that opportunity to get what she's been asking adamantly for.
It was a Saturday when she cornered us in the library, her cane clicking with the sound of a judge’s gavel.
"You had a court marriage to trick me," Grandma Winifred declared, her voice allowing no argument. "You had a wedding to satisfy Margaret's fake clause. But you haven't had a real wedding without any strings attached to it, just like a normal loving couple would. And let's not forget this is your anniversary month. So that being said.... I want a proper wedding ceremony. I want to see you two get married to each other without worrying about any reason whatsoever. It's going to be an anniversary slash wedding."
Alex and I exchanged a look of pure exhaustion. She honestly has a point.
But the thought of managing guest lists, seating charts, and catering menus was enough to make me want to hide under the rug.
"Noona," I started, trying to sound as reasonable as possible, "we’re already happily married. We have a six-month-old. The last thing we need is the stress of making arrangements for a wedding."
Grandma Winifred took a long, dramatic breath, clutching her chest as if she had suddenly been struck by a bolt of lightning.
She sank into an armchair, her eyes fluttering shut. "I see. Even you my filial granddaughter, refused to see my point. My heart is old, and my time is short. I suppose I’ll just…. fade away without the memory of your true union."
Alex immediately jumped in, his face pale. "Noona, don't do that. Don't play the 'I might die tomorrow' card."
She opened one eye. "It’s not a game, Alexander. It’s just reality."
Alex rolled his eyes and groaned in frustration. And I silently rubbed his back to ease the frustration, "we already had plans for our anniversary, so maybe it won't be soo bad."
So we eventually caved. However, I stood my ground on one thing: it had to be very simple. No three days marathon wedding, no almost a thousand persons guest lists. Just our loved ones and colleagues, and enough privacy to actually enjoy the day.
Grandma Winifred willingly agreed, mostly because she was just happy to be the one holding the clipboard.
Gosh, I wondered if this woman used to be an event organizer when she was younger.
.........,..........
Since there was a wedding coming up, there had to be a bachelorette party.
But this time it was exactly what I needed. Simple and calming spa themed party. And this time around baby Genora was invited.
Lilian had personally transformed the terrace into a spa oasis, complete with chilled wine and some fancy herbal tea.
We spent hours watching and gisting about the slideshow of our pictures from last year.
It wasn't a lot but those few pictures were precious, and eventually, the photos of us as parents popped up. And once again everyone gushed at Genora's photoshoot pictures.
Just when we finished with the spa treatment
Alex and the rest of the guys stopped by, according to them, they came to see how things were going, but I knew they Just missed us.
They all eventually went towards Genora to say hello, while me and Lilian were having a serious conversation, about the wedding plans.
"I just don't think that's the best way to handle the wedding budget, Dandy," Lilian said, her voice rising in a sharp, sudden snap.
I stopped mid-sip of my wine, raising a brow, "And I don't think your opinion on my wedding plans carries any weight, Lily. It's not in your place to decide." I said bluntly.
The table went silent. Alex, Xavier and the rest of the guys froze, their heads slowly turned toward us.
"Excuse me?" She stood up, her chair clattering back. "I think you’ve had a little too much to drink if you think you can speak to me like that."
"You feel high and mighty, because you’re a Graham now?" Lilian added, her eyes narrowing angrily at me.
"I am a Graham," I hissed. "And you’re a guest, so you don't have any right to question my own god damn wedding plans."
Before anyone could blink, Lillian lunged forward and slapped me across the face. The sound was a sharp CRACK that echoed across the terrace.
I didn't hesitate. I swung back, my hand connecting with her cheek with such force that she stumbled backward. She caught her foot on the rug and went down hard.
"Lilian!" Xavier yelled, he was there in a heartbeat, his hands catching her before she hit the tiled floor. His face was twisted into pure rage.
At the same time, Alex was beside me, his hand gripping my arm to pull me back.
"What the hell is going on?" Nicholas yelled, with confusion.
"She started it!" Xavier shouted, pointing a finger at me. "Dandelion clearly provoked her!"
Alex turned, his eyes burning with a rage. "Lilian just assaulted my wife, Xavier! She took the first swing, You’d better get your wife under control before I do it for you."
"Oh yeah, didn't you hear the rude things she said to Lilian," Xavier stepped closer, his chest heaving. "Don't you dare act like she’s a saint. And stop being so biased just because she’s your 'fucking' wife!"
Alex immediately grabbed Xavier by the shirt, pulling him in close, his voice dropping to that lethal, quiet whisper that signaled a fight about to start, "Do not curse at my wife. Don't ever."
Xavier didn't back down. He grabbed Alex’s wrists, his jaw clenched. "Or what? You're going to fight me? Try it."
The air was vibrating with the threat of violence.
"Ok boys you both need to calm down, take it easy." Tristan said trying to pull Alex away but he refused to budge.
"It's probably just a misunderstanding. Would you both cut it out already." Nicholas snapped, trying desperately to come in between them.
But neither of them moved, they were both glaring daggers at each other, ready to throw the first punch.
