Chapter 129 You traitor!, I am your mother!
Viola’s demands echoed in the phone which had landed on the floor.
"Within one day. Make Tristan CEO, transfer one hundred million dollars, and destroy all the evidence against me and Margaret. Or your wife and baby die. Do not do anything stupid. We are watching."
Then the voice ended, the phone was still on the floor faced down.
Alexander stood completely frozen for a long time. Then, the terror slowly turned into an uncontrollable rage.
A loud roar tore violently out of his chest.
He grabbed the heavy leather chair and hurled it across the room. It smashed hard against the wooden bookshelf, destroying into broken pieces. He swept his hands across the desk, throwing the expensive lamps, the glass whiskey bottles, the desktop and other folders onto the floor in a massive, chaotic crash.
Walter rushed into the ruined study immediately, his eyes wide with panic.
"Sir!" Walter called, looking at the destruction. "You need to calm down."
"No!" Alex yelled, his chest heaving with heavy, ragged breaths. He pointed a shaking finger at the dropped phone. "They will kill her, Walter. Viola is a cruel bitch!, even if I do everything she asks, she will still detonate that bomb. We have to handle this carefully."
Tristan stood near the doorway. He had flinched when Alex called his mum a bitch, but didn't say anything, she deserved it anyways for the horrible things she had done.
He had watched the horrific video the hospital had sent, if Dandelion's kidnap.
He picked up the phone and watched the video. His face went completely pale, especially now that a bomb was involved.
"I know where she is," Tristan blurted out, his voice shaking slightly.
Alex spun around, his bright green eyes locking onto his brother with desperation.
"It is an old, abandoned shipping warehouse by the south docks," Tristan explained. "My mom bought it years ago through a fake company. I recognize the empty space. Alex, I can go there. I can make her believe I am fully on her side. But I do not know how to detonate a bomb."
Alex stared at Tristan quietly. He saw the fear in his brother's eyes, but he also saw the determination. Tristan was offering to walk directly into a deadly trap to save the woman his own mother was trying to murder.
"I will teach you," Alex finally said.
..............
For the next thirty minutes, Alex taught Tristan how to detonate a bomb.
This was a minor skill he had learned from his dark past as Ghost Blade.
He grabbed a thick marker and drew the exact wiring diagram of a standard explosive block on a large piece of paper.
He made Tristan to memorize the colored wires. Red, blue, green, yellow. He explained exactly how to bypass the digital timer without triggering the pressure plate. It was a terrifying, highly dangerous lesson, but they had no other choice.
"Do exactly what I told you," Alex said desperately, gripping Tristan firmly by the shoulders. "I will be waiting right outside the warehouse doors with my men. We'll move in the second that timer stops."
Tristan nodded.
........................
An hour later, Tristan’s black sports car rolled slowly onto the abandoned south docks.
He parked outside the massive, rusting warehouse. He took a deep, shaky breath, wiping the cold sweat from his palms.
He pushed the heavy metal door open and stepped into the freezing building.
"Mom?" Tristan called out, keeping his hands visible.
Viola stepped out from the small room near the center of the room. She held a black handgun down by her side.
When she saw her son, a wicked, smile stretched across her painted lips.
"Tristan, my darling boy," Viola greeted, she went to him and wrapped her free arm around his neck. "You came. Did you get my message?"
"I did," Tristan lied, forcing himself to hug his monster of a mom back. "I am on your side, Mom. I want the company. I want us to win."
Viola pulled back, her sharp eyes scanning his pale face. She looked slightly suspicious, searching for any sign of deception, but Tristan kept his expression completely cold.
He looked past her shoulder and saw Dandelion tied securely to a wooden chair. The gray explosive was strapped directly to her round stomach. The bright red timer was still ticking down.
Suddenly, Viola's cell phone rang loudly in her pocket.
She pulled it out, rolling her eyes in deep annoyance. It was Margaret.
"Watch the girl," Viola instructed, turning her back to Tristan and answering the call.
"What is it, Margaret? No, the money will be split exactly as we agreed. Stop complaining!"
Viola walked a few paces away, completely distracted by greedy Margaret arguing loudly through the speaker.
Tristan did not waste a single second. He dropped to his knees and crawled silently across the dirty floor toward Dandelion.
Dandelion’s blue eyes were wide with fear. She had been crying for hours, her face streaked with dirt and tears. When she saw Tristan approaching, she braced herself, expecting him to hurt her.
"I am getting you out," Tristan whispered, keeping his voice barely audible. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small pair of wire cutters. "Stay still."
Dandelion gasped softly, fresh tears of relief flooding her eyes.
But then she looked at the bomb in fear, "If this goes wrong...."
"It won't," Tristan promised, his hands shaking slightly as he checked the messy tangle wires. "Alex taught me well."
Tristan stared at the bomb. The red timer glowed brightly in the dim light.
Forty-five minutes left.
He ignored the ticking numbers and focused on the wires, repeating Alex's strict instructions in his head.
Bypass the yellow. Cut the blue. Never touch the red.
His heart hammered a against his ribs. He carefully snipped the blue wire. Nothing happened. He let out a shaky breath, moving to the green wire attached to the battery pack.
Thirty minutes left.
Viola’s voice echoed loudly across the warehouse as she continued to argue with Margaret about their percentage share of the ransom. She was completely consumed by her own greed, ignoring her son kneeling in the shadows.
Ten minutes left.
Tristan isolated the final, thick green wire. His fingers were slick with nervous sweat. He squeezed his eyes shut for a brief second, praying silently. He opened his eyes and clamped the cutters down hard.
Snip.
The bright red numbers on the digital timer instantly vanished. The screen went completely black.
The bomb was successfully deactivated.
Tristan let out a heavy sigh of relief. He quickly grabbed a sharp pocket knife and sliced through the thick, rough ropes binding Dandelion's wrists and ankles.
"Let's go," Tristan urged, pulling her gently to her feet.
Dandelion stumbled slightly, her legs were numb from sitting in the hard chair, but she grabbed Tristan's arm and leaned on him. They turned around and sprinted as fast as they could toward the exit doors.
Their footsteps slapped loudly against the floor.
Viola spun around, dropping her phone. She saw the empty wooden chair, the dead bomb resting on the floor, and her son helping Dandelion escape.
"No!" Viola shrieked, a sound of terrifying madness echoing through the warehouse.
She raised her black handgun, aiming directly at their backs.
"You traitor!" Viola screamed angrily, "I am your mother!"
Tristan stopped running as soon as he sighted the gun aimed at Dandy. He pushed Dandelion firmly behind him, using his own body as a shield. He looked back at the woman who had manipulated, abused, and controlled him for his whole life. He felt no fear anymore.
"You never acted like my mother!" Tristan shouted back, his voice bolder thanp before. "You made me feel like I was a liability to you! You always compared me, and you completely destroyed my self-esteem! You killed someone and now you want to kill a pregnant woman, You are a monster!"
Viola’s eyes widened in fury. She had lost control of her puppet son whom she had always made to do whatever she wanted.
Without a single thought of hesitation, Viola pulled the trigger.
The loud gunshot echoed loudly in the empty room.
Tristan jerked backward. The fast bullet tore directly through his right shoulder. A bright splash of dark blood splashec across his white shirt.
The force of the impact threw him completely off balance. He stumbled backward, crashing heavily into Dandelion.
They both fell hard onto the concrete floor.
Dandelion hit the ground hard. A sharp, agonizing pain instantly shot through her lower waist.
"Ah!" Dandelion screamed, clutching her stomach in pain.
Viola completely froze. She lowered the smoking gun slowly, her eyes locked on the dark blood pouring rapidly from Tristan’s shoulder.
The wicked scheming monster suddenly snapped, realizing she had just shot her own son in cold blood.
Before Viola could move another inch, the doors of the warehouse blew completely open.
Alexander burst into the warehouse followed immediately by dozens of heavily armed men. His eyes swept through the room in a single second, seeing his brother bleeding on the floor and his pregnant wife screaming in pain.
Viola snapped violently back to reality. Her survival instincts completely took over. She raised the gun again, aiming it desperately toward Dandelion to finish the job.
Alexander moved very quickly, with speed.
He threw himself across the floor, tackling Viola violently around the waist. They crashed heavily onto the ground.
Alex grabbed her wrist, twisting it hard until the bones popped. Viola shrieked in pain, dropping the black handgun. Alex kicked the weapon far away, and pinned her completely to the floor.
Loud, wailing police sirens suddenly filled the warehouse outside. Red and blue lights flashed brightly through the windows.
Dozens of uniformed police officers swarmed into the warehouse, their guns raised.
Outside, a second police unit had already surrounded Margaret’s car, dragging the screaming woman out of the driver's seat and shoving her roughly against the hood of the car, securing her hands with tight metal handcuffs.
She had probably come herself to collect her share of the money thinking everything went as planned.
Alex ignored the shouting officers pulling Viola up from the floor. He ran desperately across the warehouse toward Dandelion.
Tristan was lying on his back, pressing his shaking hand against his bleeding shoulder. Dandelion was curled tightly on her side, crying in agony as she held her round stomach.
"Angel," Alex cried, dropping to his knees and carefully gathering her shaking body into his strong arms. "You are safe. The police are here."
"It hurts," Dandelion sobbed, burying her wet face against his dark shirt. "Alex, my baby. It hurts so much."
"Hold on, please hold on," Alex begged, looking frantically toward Tristan. "Someone help!, he's bleeding!"
Two bright white ambulances came screeching through the open gates, their tires slipping aggressively on the floor.
The medical team jumped out immediately, rushing quickly toward them with rolling stretchers and emergency kits.
The paramedics loaded Dandelion and Tristan quickly onto the stretchers, rushing them directly toward the waiting ambulances to get them to the hospital.
