Chapter 22 Warning Them
VINCE’S POV:-
Against everything that could dismay Alyssa, I gathered all the helpers of the house in my studies with a dark aura surrounding me.
They were looking down when I was glaring at them for disturbing her already disturbed state.
“So you people have begun to question what I do and don’t. Did you forget on whose land you stand?”
Leaning against the table, my arms folded at my chest. Asserting my dominance to let them know it was my house.
They couldn’t do anything that could displease me… or my bride.
Looking down fretfully, one of them whispered worriedly
“S-Sir, we- we are sorry. But, you are cheating on Madam Astrid-”
A dangerous smirk emerged on my lips, arching an eyebrow, “So?”
They were taken aback at my display of uncaring demeanor. But, to be selfish towards my wants has been a part of my nature.
I always did what I wanted to.
Flashing my hidden, malicious glimpse, I raised my brows, challenging them.
“Who is here to stop me? To question my actions?”
Their mouths gaped to find their silent Boss being so authoritative towards their mere gossip. But, I must remind them I am their Boss.
And they do what I order.
Holding my chin up, I pointed my finger at them warningly.
“I am giving you all a warning, if you dare to make Alyssa uncomfortable with your words or eyes, consider it the last day of your employment,”
“What…?”
“Let alone here, you won’t be able to work anywhere else. Do you understand?”
Their eyes widened in horror, taking a step back when I became so dire about Alyssa but they must understand her position.
Her respect had become my respect, I couldn’t risk it anymore.
“Y-Yes, Sir. We apologize, this won’t happen again,”
“If anyone has issues, they can leave now,” Ordering strictly, I snapped my fingers twice and pointed at the door.
None of them moved.
Of course they know they couldn’t get a job with this pay anywhere else.
After restricting them, I walked out of the studies and was about to go back to my room to relax as it was Saturday and I had my series pending.
I was about to leave but bumped into Alyssa who sprinted to my side and seeing her lifted spirits, I couldn’t help but to smile.
“Vince!”
“Yes?”
“Wick has sent me a file but it seems like I have forgotten how to use that software. Will you help me?” She asked innocently and I failed to refuse.
“Sure,”
“It seems like it will take me some time to get used it,”
“It’s alright, take your time, I am with you,”
She smiled.
We went to her room as I spent my whole time helping her throughout the project where my eyes unknowingly connected with hers.
Watching her placing all her devotion to her work, trying to grasp everything I was saying and I didn’t know why-
I liked helping her out.
“There you go, do you get it now?”
“Mhm. Thanks,”
“Great. I will order us lunch, what do you want to eat?” I asked, giving her head a pat for reassurance that made her eyes twinkle.
“I want spicy wings and potato wedges,” she whispered.
“Okay,”
After helping her out, I ordered us lunch. She seemed delighted when the food arrived.
“Oh, finally. I was starving,”
“Really?” I smirked.
“Yes, let’s eat,”
It was pleasant, she was gradually opening up to me and it was honestly relieving, eating her food properly unlike before.
To find her recovering from her failure of love was soothing.
She mustn’t have the same outcome as Lucia, I won’t be able to endure it.
After wholeheartedly helping her and having lunch, I finally went back to my series only to get interrupted again by my brother’s call in the evening.
Exhaling, I picked it up only to hear Draven’s cheery resonance.
“Hey,”
“Hey,”
“So, how’s married life going?” He teased, chuckling a little.
“Fine. How’s Cynthia?”
“Good as always. She has the best man in the world after all,”
He never fails to praise himself for being a good husband. Laughing to himself, being so proud.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” I rolled my eyes.
“How’s your bride? Heard she is stepping into business, good for her.”
“Yeah, I hope things go in her favor,” I hummed in agreement, praying for the best for her.
“Of course, she has Mr. Workaholic with her as a guide, she will be fine.” He laughed a little.
What could I say? I had created such an image after all.
Before I could retort, he informed me out of the blue as if it was normal.
“Anyways, Cynthia wants to meet Alyssa, she wants to see her sister-in-law,”
Gasping, I sat up, displeased when he was telling his bride, especially when Alyssa wasn’t ready.
“You told Cynthia too!?”
“So what? Not that she is going to tell anyone.” He defended.
“But-”
“Alright, we are coming over for dinner. See ya!”
Without listening to me, beaming, acting as if we were having a double date or something, he cut the call.
And it was unfavorable to me because Alyssa wasn’t ready to announce this marriage or consider me a husband.
I hope she won't mind it.
Frowning, I went to her room, knocking on the door and when she saw me, a pretty smile adorned her features.
“Um, Alyssa, listen,”
“Yes? What is it?”
“Draven called, he is coming over for dinner with his wife Cynthia,” I told her vaguely.
Narrowing her eyes, she made a confused face, “... Should I stay in the room?”
“He knows about the marriage. Draven is not only my brother, he is my best friend too, I can’t hide anything from him,”
“Oh, so, um…”
Forming her lips in a thin line, she shrugged nonchalantly, “Should I… dress up? For a good impression?” Sure, why not?- No, that sounds wrong.
“If you want to, I don’t mind,” I said nervously, scratching the back of my neck, glancing at her expectantly.
“Okay. When will they arrive?”
“Around 7pm,”
“Okay,”
