Chapter 79 Chapter 79
I held his hand tightly and then spoke,
“Don’t worry, huz, I will never abandon you no matter what happens. Promise.”
We locked gazes, and at that moment, I felt something stir inside me.
I felt the bizarre connection soothing every inch of my system. As if just looking at each other was enough to overcome everything. As if all the city lights turned into stars around us… I felt like I was on the other side of the world, where I wished it was just the two of us living there.
“I will not abandon you either, my wife.”
He caressed my arm as he embraced my whole being.
“So stop crying… I’m on your side when the world is against you,” he added, which warmed my heart even more.
“Me too, huz, I’m on your side in everything…”
I wrapped my arms around his waist as I savored every second of being this close to him. My head rested on his broad chest while he kept stroking my hair.
“My wife…” he called while we remained in each other’s embrace.
“Hmm?”
“Do you want to go with me?”
“Where?” I asked as I looked up at his face. He met my gaze.
“Let’s get some fresh air first and let go of the bitterness.”
“Huh?”
He smiled and pulled my hand toward his car.
“Wait! My car!”
“I’ll call someone to fetch that. For now, just ride with me—I mean, in my car. We’ll deal with your ride on me later,” he said jokingly.
“You’re crazy! You’re thinking of something indecent again!”
“At least I made you smile. Come on.”
I had no choice when he himself fastened my seatbelt. Just like he said, he called someone to retrieve my car from the hill. Meanwhile, we drove to a place I had no idea about.
I only realized that I was boarding an airplane with no one else on it but us. Correction—we were on a private plane! What the heck? Don’t tell me he bought one, or that he already owned it? I don’t know!
“Where are you planning to take me, huh? You said we were just going to get some air!”
“Exactly. We’re getting some air in Singapore,” he said with a grin.
“What?! Singapore?! Don’t you have somewhere you need to be tomorrow?!”
“I do, that’s why we’re going somewhere close. We’ll come back right away. I’m just going to comfort you so you can smile again.”
I laughed at his choice of words. On one hand, all the sadness I had earlier was replaced with excitement.
“Your way of comforting is so expensive,” I complained as I sat near the window.
“It’s not even that expensive.”
“You’re so arrogant!”
“Why? Don’t you like this? You said before that we should just ride a private plane so there wouldn’t be any inconvenience. And I took your advice because I know the wife is always right. So here you go—we’re going to Singapore with the help of this private plane.”
He pulled me and took the seat I was sitting in earlier.
“Hey, Hendeix, that’s my seat!” I snapped, but he just pulled me down onto his lap.
“Nope, my wife, this is the seat you were supposed to be in.”
“Hendeix—”
He silenced me by placing his finger over my lips.
“Huz, call me ‘huz,’ my wife,” he whispered.
“What are you doing, Huz? I’m ticklish! Let me go! You said you’d comfort me, but you’re flirting with me instead!”
“That’s included,” he joked with a laugh and then kissed my neck.
We were like two fools flirting until the plane finally took off. I had been laughing nonstop at his antics. Aside from tickling me, he kept boasting about the wealth he had. When he talks, it’s as if he doesn’t have any problems at all. That made me curious about what kind of relationship he has with his father. Is it like the one my mom and I have too?
But I don’t want to talk about it again. I don’t want to ruin our happy momentum right now—especially since the two of us are going to Singapore.
I excused myself to go to the restroom, but when I came back, he was already asleep. I looked for a blanket and covered him with it before watching him.
“I guess you’re really tired from work but still made time to attend to my needs. Thank you for making me happy, even though you’re also feeling sadness. I’m so grateful to have you, Huz.”
I stroked his hair, but I was stopped when he held my arm. He opened his eyes and met mine.
“Can I ask now about what happened—why you were crying at the top of the hill?”
He pulled me back onto his lap, but this time, he was full of care. He even tucked my hair behind my ear.
“Wife… tell me everything.”
I lowered my head and couldn’t stop fiddling with my ring.
“I met my ex-boyfriend—Jett.”
