Chapter 62 Chapter 62

Chapter 62 Chapter 62

“I can ask someone to do that, Miss Jade,” Roan insisted but I declined.
“I’ll do it myself. I can handle it. Besides, there should be an auto shop nearby, right? I’ll just drive around.”
“I’ll join you then. I’ll drive for you.” She was about to get into the car when I stopped her.
“No need, Roan. You just stay here. I promise, I’ll be fine.”
“I’ll just follow you if you want to be alone.”
I just shook my head. This is what’s hard. When I want to be alone, I can’t, because there’s always someone following me. If I request from Hendeix that I don’t want a companion, someone would lose their job. What should I do?
I could only sigh and get into my car. She got into the car that once picked me up from the hospital. She followed me as I looked for an auto shop where I could have my car washed.
I was sitting in the lounge while waiting for my car to be fixed, while Roan was just standing off to the side, looking at me. Bored, I called out to her.
“Yes, Miss Jade? Do you need something?”
“Can I ask how old you are?”
“That’s a private matter, Miss Jade.”
I grinned. “Are you younger than me?”
She didn’t answer, so my suspicion seemed correct. “How long have you been working with Hendeix?”
“Two years, Miss Jade, but I have known him longer than that.”
“Really? Did you see him grow into one of the finest men in this country?” I joked, but she didn’t seem to agree. Her face showed no reaction, so it was confirmed—she must have seen Hendeix grow up. I wonder what Hendeix was like when he was younger. Were they childhood friends? Wait…
“How are you related to Roen? I noticed your names sound similar.”
“He’s my fraternal twin, my eldest brother, Miss Jade.”
I was amazed. So they’re fraternal twins? That explains why they look somewhat alike. Both have neutral reactions when spoken to. Tall and fit. Seems like they know a lot of martial arts and can really protect you. But if she’s younger than me, then how old is she? Can she really protect me? Well, if Hendeix trusts her, then I should trust her too. She must be really competent.
I noticed she seemed to be waiting for another question from me, so I smiled. “Sorry, I just got bored, so I asked you so many questions.”
“It’s okay, Miss Jade. I’ll keep you entertained.”
“Then should I ask more?”
She nodded. I felt like I had found a younger sibling. I couldn’t get it out of my head that she was younger than me. Despite her appearance, I can see her naivety.
I wonder, if I had a sibling too, would we be close like this, and would I be able to talk to them like this?

WHEN WE RETURNED to the Sky Villa, Roan approached the mailbox and took a wide envelope from it.
“What’s that?” I asked curiously.
“Nothing, Miss Jade. For now, you can take some rest inside. I just have something to do.”
She bowed to me before walking back to her car. I couldn’t help but wonder what was inside the envelope. But maybe it’s none of my business, so I just continued going inside the Villa.
I sighed. Now, what? What am I going to do now? Our medical mission is still two days away. Usually, I wouldn’t have much to do at home except house chores, but how am I supposed to do that here? Even collecting water in the bathtub is done by someone else. Sigh, what time will Hendeix be home? I didn’t notice the time last night. I couldn’t read properly because he was doing things with me.
Still, I couldn’t help but remember what he said earlier. I think I might be the one missing him more, since I have nothing to do. Surely, I’m not running through his mind because he’s all work. Meeting here, meeting there. And later, he’ll have to travel home. I’ll just prepare myself so I can help ease his fatigue.
I entered my room to find a suitable nightdress. I also did my hair and makeup. And before I knew it, time had passed—it was already six in the evening. It was already late since Roan and I had just returned from the auto shop.
My preparations were interrupted when someone knocked on the door. In my excitement, I even thought it was Hendeix, but why would he knock on our room?
Eventually, I heard Roan’s voice.
“Miss Jade, are you in there?” she asked.
“Yes?”
“My brother just called me, and he said Mr. Lavarre is not coming home tonight.”
