Chapter 15 Chapter 15
A cabin crew interrupted us to ask if we would like to have breakfast, but I chose to have a black coffee instead. As for Hendeix, he simply declined.
A few moments later, the plane finally landed, but the two of us remained quiet. Is this really a honeymoon, or is this where our togetherness gets tested? Are we going to separate?
My conversation with myself was cut off when someone blocked our way at the airport—a cabin crew carrying a white designer paper bag. She spoke, and I confirmed she didn’t approach the wrong people especially when she looked at me.
"I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, Mr. and Mrs. Lavarre. I know you're both busy. I am just here to extend our airline's appreciation for your heroic deed earlier. We did not expect that a guest from first class would step forward to assist a passenger in economy, and for that, we are deeply and forever grateful for your help. Please accept this small token we prepared for you."
I gaped when she handed me the big paper bag. And when I saw what was inside, my eyes bugged out. A Christian Dior leather saddle handbag! Are you freaking kidding me?
It costs a hundred thousand pesos! Why would they bother giving me such an expensive bag?
"And also to you, Mr. Lavarre. This may not be much for your wealth, but please accept this. We're really, really grateful to both of you for trusting and choosing our airline."
She gave Hendeix a small bag, and I silently cursed the moment I saw what it was. A Rolex?! Wait a minute. I know I have no right to complain, but why is his gift more expensive than mine? I was the one who actually did something earlier!
I was about to speak when the cabin crew had already excused herself. Tsk. Like I said, be grateful. I don’t need a Rolex anyway. What's that even for? Can I eat it?
And I don’t need a watch because I’m not fond of checking the time. I’m not chasing deadlines or anything because I don’t even have a job. I own my time!
"Here. I don't need this."
I turned to Hendeix when he handed me the small paper bag.
"Huh? What do you mean you don't need this? Don’t you know how expensive that is?" I asked in concern.
"If people saw me wearing that brand, they might think I'm poor."
"What poor nonsense are you talking about? That’s worth millions!" I couldn’t stop my voice from rising. Sorry if I sound like I’m overreacting, but wow, he’s really belittling that brand. Is a Rolex really cheap for him?!
He showed me the watch he was wearing. Wrong—he didn’t just show it; it looked like he was proudly flaunting it to me. "Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, worth thirty-one point nineteen million US dollars. It is the most expensive watch in the world," he explained, making my jaw drop even more.
I shot him a glare. "If you're that rich, you should have bought your own plane so we could've flown in it. So we wouldn’t have to worry about being late for our flight, rebooking, and experiencing turbulence. Not to mention the hassle," I complained with a grimace. He just had to flaunt his wealth. I felt slapped by poverty.
"Why? You want the plane all to ourselves? I wonder what you'd do to me if it were just the two of us. With how spacious a plane is, we could do so many rounds. Don't you think so?"
I rolled my eyes. He must be forgetting that he’s the one who’s ravenous for me and keeps initiating! That’s why we still haven’t managed to talk properly because his sex drive is insanely high! We've done nothing but have sex since last night!
And he’s also the one who forgot to pull himself out of me! If I get pregnant, I swear I’ll choke him!
"Tss. Fine! Give it to me! I’ll sell it if I ever get broke!" I finally accepted the Rolex box he kept handing me. It’s an investment anyway, if ever. If I get pregnant and he runs away, at least I have something to buy milk for my baby. Tsk. What a plan.
"Why would you go broke when you're with me? You don't seem to recognize your husband. Everything you see, I can buy. Just tell me," he said arrogantly.
"Oh really? Then buy me a spaceship and I’ll fly to Mars! I’ll live there forever," I said sarcastically and began walking without even knowing where this husband of mine was taking us.
"So who's gonna fuck you when you're in there?" he said, making me stop. He followed after me. This man—he only knows lust! It looks like sex is really the only thing he wants from me; that’s why he married me!
"I won't be going outside space, my wife," he added.
"And why not? Fine, stay here if you don’t want to go with me! As for me, I’ll create my own world!"
"Why would you? You can just make me your world."
