CHAPTER THIRTY TWO
CHAPTER 33
Diana, lurking nearby and observing Hailey's discovery, couldn't help but smirk. She knew the letter was a deceitful fabrication, designed to lure Hailey into danger. Her voice filled with false empathy, she approached Hailey.
"Hailey," Diana said softly, her eyes feigning concern, "is everything alright? What did you find?"
Hailey turned to face Diana, but not trusting Diana at all, she decided not to tell her "Umm it's nothing, it's just trash" Hailey said. Diana, knowing she had found the letter, decided not to push her "It's okay, you can go on with your work". She said and walked away. When Diana had gone far away from Hailey, she stood up and decided to embark on the journey.
As Hailey walked deeper into the forest, the surroundings began to change. The familiar sounds of her pack faded away, replaced by strange noises from hidden creatures. Tall trees cast long shadows, and it felt eerily quiet.
Hailey took careful steps, knowing she was moving farther from the safety of her pack. She whispered to herself, a mix of excitement and nervousness in her voice. "I really want to meet her," she said quietly, her eyes scanning the thick bushes. "I need to know why she would abandon her own child."
She suddenly noticed unusual marks on the trees, symbols carved into the bark that she didn't recognize. Hailey paused, feeling a chill run down her spine. "What could this mean?" she asked herself, tracing the strange patterns with her fingers.
The deeper she went, the denser the forest became, and it felt like twilight even in the daytime. Shadows moved among the trees, making her heart race with every rustling sound.
Hailey's body language showed she was determined but also scared. She continued walking, her eyes darting around. She held the letter tightly to her chest, a fragile connection to the mother she'd never met.
As her journey continued, the forest seemed to close in on her, like a living thing with secrets to protect. Hailey's whispers grew more urgent. "I must find her," she said.
Inside her room at the Red Moon pack, Diana's mind wandered freely. She had masterminded Hailey's journey into the forest, and now, she enjoyed thinking about what Hailey would experience amidst the tall trees and lurking dangers.
Diana whispered to herself with a sinister grin, "She's fallen right into my trap. She'll soon realize the dangers of these woods, and there'll be no one to save her."
Sitting alone, Diana's thoughts created vivid pictures of Hailey's situation. She pictured Hailey stumbling through the thick bushes, feeling scared as strange sounds filled the forest.
Diana chuckled wickedly, saying to herself, "She'll be lost, alone, and terrified. Just as she deserves."
A sly smile crept onto Diana's face as she imagined Hailey getting more and more worried. "She'll wish she had never crossed me," Diana muttered to herself.
In her imagination, Diana saw Hailey coming across the symbols she had carved onto the trees. These symbols hinted at a dark fate. She pictured Hailey becoming confused and anxious, sensing unseen dangers and the scary shadows moving between the trees.
Diana couldn't contain her evil laughter as she envisioned Hailey's growing fear. "She'll regret ever challenging me," she hissed under her breath.
Diana's imagination ran wild as she thought about Hailey's fight for survival. She took pleasure in the idea of Hailey racing through the dense forest out of fear, desperately seeking answers that had led her into this dangerous situation.
With a malevolent grin, Diana muttered, "Let her realize the consequences of crossing Diana."
As she considered Hailey's uncertain future, Diana felt a growing sense of triumph.
Deep inside the forest, unknown to Hailey, her presence had not gone unnoticed. In the shadows, a group of wolves, once members of various packs but now living a life of freedom in the forest, observed her every move.
One of the wild wolves, a large black Alpha with piercing yellow eyes, leaned in to whisper to his comrades, "Look, it's a lone wolf from the Red Moon Pack."
His companion, a lean and agile gray wolf, raised an eyebrow. "What's she doing here? Red Moon territory is far from this place."
The Alpha sneered. "It doesn't matter. She's trespassing in our territory."
The pack of wild wolves, varying in colors and sizes, began to encircle Hailey, their growls and low snarls creating an eerie symphony through the forest. Hailey froze, her heart pounding as she realized she was not alone.
One of the wild wolves, a young and aggressive one, lunged at Hailey, teeth bared and eyes filled with menace. Hailey's instincts kicked in, and she narrowly dodged the attack, avoiding the snapping jaws.
"Stay away from me!" Hailey shouted, her voice trembling with fear and defiance. She was outnumbered and outmatched, but she refused to go down without a fight.
The alpha of the wild wolves stepped forward, his voice carrying authority. "You're in our territory, What brings you here?"
Hailey stammered, her voice trembling. "I... I was looking for someone. My mother. I thought she might be here."
The Alpha exchanged a knowing glance with his pack before speaking, his tone slightly softened. "Your kind has never been welcome in these woods, your mother can't be here," the Alpha said to her "But I got a letter from her asking me to meet her here" Hailey explained
"Whoever sent you here, really wants you dead but here's a deal. We'll let you go if you promise never to return."
Hailey nodded vigorously, her desperation evident. "I promise. Just let me go."
With a dismissive wave, the Alpha signaled to his pack to step back. They retreated into the shadows, leaving Hailey shaken but alive.
As she continued her journey with caution, Hailey couldn't help but replay the encounter in her mind. The wild wolves had spared her, but the terror of the encounter remained. She understood that the forest held not only physical dangers but also the mysterious secrets of its inhabitants.
Unknown to Hailey, she was not entirely alone. The alpha wolf, who had shown her mercy, had been watching from a distance. He had sensed something in her, a vulnerability that stirred a dormant sense of empathy within him.
Silently, the Alpha wolf followed behind Hailey, maintaining a careful distance. He knew the forest better than anyone, and he sensed that Hailey was ill-prepared to navigate its dangers. While his pack had initially shown aggression, he had a different plan in mind.
Suddenly, as Hailey pressed further into the forest, a menacing growl echoed from the underbust ahead. Before she could react, a massive and ferocious bear emerged from the shadows.
