CHAPTER 22: TRUTH

MONICA'S POV

I had always wondered why he was able to get me. How he knew about me and why he came to my room that day to pick me up from there. Even though I was neglected by my stepmother, she would still keep some guards by the door to check on me most times so I wouldn't escape from the room but Alpha Brimstone and Alpha Zac entered, took me, and left with me. "At first, I thought Gailey was just too scared of Alpha Brimstone that she couldn't talk but listening to him today made me realize that we might be wrong all along. He didn't kidnap you or forcefully take you away." Edna said to me and I nodded.

Gailey, my stepmother must have done something but what was it? I entered the bathroom and took a quick bath after which I returned to the room and had a change of dress. I walked out of the room and down to Alpha Brimstone's study where I closed my eyes. I tried connecting to Alpha Zac, hoping it would work and thankfully, it did. "Alpha Zac, Can I see you?" I asked him through the mind link. "Right now?" He asked and I nodded. "Yes, please. Right now." I replied, not minding if he was busy or not. The thoughts of what Gailey must have done made me restless and I couldn't help but think of about every minute. It was crazy... "Okay." He said and ended the connection.

I opened my eyes and sucked in a deep breath. I was tired, everything seemed suffocating but I wanted to be strong. "I should go and stay downstairs so he can see me on time," I said to Edna who seemed to accept with me immediately. I walked toward the door and was about to leave the room when I felt a presence and I turned around to see Alpha Zac standing behind me. "Alpha Zac?" I asked with a raised brow and he smiled. "You look surprised, don't you know I can teleport?" He asked and that was when it dawned on me that Alpha Brimstone could do the same too.

I made an O sound and moved closer to him "You are here." I said as I bowed but he immediately bowed back. "Don't do this, please." He said as I raised my head and revealed a smile. "I called you here..." I stopped. I walked toward a couch "Can you come sit here?" I asked him and he nodded before walking toward me and we both sat down. He stared at me for a while before he lowered his gaze "Ask away." He said as he seemed to have noticed that I was restless about something.

I sighed and looked at him "I'm sorry if I disturbed your peace. I called you here to ask you something. The day you and Alpha Brimstone came for me, how did you know I was there? Why did he brand me that day?" I asked him and I saw his eyes twitched before he closed it. He looked away for a while before he returned his gaze to me and revealed a forced smile. "I don't know why you are asking about this. You should strive to win your husband's heart at this moment, not ask about the past. Why are you so curious about this now?" He asked calmly but I could feel something was wrong.

He did not want to tell me seemingly because he did not want me to get hurt but I did not need it. I already made up my mind to be strong no matter what I faced and this was just one of those moments. "Tell me, Alpha Zac. If you don't, I might return home to ask my stepmother what happened and she won't hesitate to tell me, you know?" I said to him and he looked at me with a big frown on his face. "Must you do this? Must you know about it?" He asked me and I nodded firmly.

He sighed and looked away again. He was silent for a while before he lowered his head and sucked in a deep breath "I forced Alpha Brimstone to go to an Auction with me where we saw them selling slaves. We needed a Luna and we believed getting one from the ladies that were getting auctioned off would be the best option but we saw none that suited the criteria." He stopped and looked at me. "We were about to leave when we saw your pictures and videos. To be honest, Alpha Brimstone wasn't interested at all, I was the one who... bo... bought you and handed you over to him because I had a good feeling about you." He explained to me and it was like my heart had been shattered.

I've always thought Alpha Brimstone used his power to take me away and I was glad he did because I loved his mansion more than my Pack but hearing that I was supposed to be a slave... I was supposed to either be a slave, a breeder, or a sex slave but he saved me from that and even made me a Luna. Thinking back to those who had been auctioned off that day, I wondered what life they would be living at the moment and it was obvious they wouldn't live better off than me. I felt guilty for raising my voice at him when he was just a savior who saved me from being abused. He didn't even touch me after marrying me, he honored me and gave me the best of life and I still kept being greedy. I still hated him for hurting me.

I was pained, my heart clenched and I hated Gailey for doing this to me. I wished I was strong enough so I can visit my father's pack at this moment and tear her apart. Without saying a word, I stood up from my seat and walked toward the door. "Where are you going?" I heard Alpha Zac questioned but I gave no reply as I opened the door and left the study. I walked toward my bedroom and entered.

Some maids were already arranging my room so I walked toward the mirror and turned to face it. "Leave," I said and they all looked at me. "I said, LEAVE!" I yelled at them and they all scurried away from the room before I returned my attention to the mirror in front of me. I looked at my clear eyes that refused to shed any tears even though I was so broken and I looked at my gown that I was putting on. I placed my hand around my neck, trailed it down, and grabbed the gown, I closed my eyes and pulled on the gown, and with a loud tearing sound, it tore off, revealing my chest.

I removed the bra, revealing my naked breast and through the mirror, I could see the branding on my chest. "This makes me his. This sign is like a precious gem I will forever cherish as long as I'm alive. This brand of his has become my most precious treasure." I said to myself as I trailed my hand down the branding and my eyes glowed.
