CHAPTER 19: CONFUSION
ALPHA BRIMSTONE'S POV
Looking at her had become so difficult that it was taking a toll on me. Every time I looked at her, the feeling to hug her tight and make her feel wanted would surface in my heart but I knew it was too dangerous to act on. She was just a Luna that would die in 2 years so why would I give her so much attention?
When I returned home, I was shocked to see her in bed for some reason, I felt bad when I saw the tears in her eyes. She was controlling my emotions and I hated it. I grabbed her neck to warn her but I felt more like the ruthless person that I've always been. Looking into her pained eyes threatened to tear me apart and I had to stop. "Do you hate me because of my background or because I'm weak?" When I heard that question, my anger rose. I wanted to yell at her and let her know that the reason I hated to see her was because she kept controlling my emotions and making me feel like I was powerless whenever I faced her. At times, I used to feel like she was someone I should worship when she was just a mere Omega with a very weak wolf.
I replied to her harshly and left her standing as I walked downstairs to eat. Since I gained power, I never needed to eat to fill my belly anymore but to keep that secret from others, I've always eaten with them, and drink with them although I didn't need it and that moment, I wanted to eat because I was frustrated. I met Zac already eating in the dining and I sat on the biggest seat.
"Lord." He called but I only replied with a low hum before picking up my spoon and I started eating. Minutes later... I heard footsteps on the stairs and I knew she was the one. She walked toward us and I was surprised to see her smiling when she looked so sad some minutes ago. She kept chattering with Zac and I let them be as the last thing I wanted was to get involved with her again.
Seeing her around made me lose my appetite completely but I kept on eating so and a few seconds later, I stood up and turned to Zac. "I'm leaving," I said to him but he hesitated a little before replying to me. He looked at Monica who was staring at me and turned to me "I will meet you there." He said and I frowned. I wanted to question him for his hesitation but I shrugged it off and turned to leave until I felt Monica's presence behind me.
I hated to see her looking so pitiful when she might have something backing her up. Thinking about it, I realized she was the only one that still looked alive among all the ladies that were auctioned off at the auction house. All of them weren't locked in a room, they weren't starved like her and they didn't lose their parent at a very young age like her but they still looked dead because of what they went through which was in no way as cruel and brutal as hers. But, she stayed bubbly and kept smiling now and then as if there was something up with her. That was when I should have noticed that something was wrong but I was too blinded thinking she could be an ordinary girl.
"Don't you think you are being petty? You don't know a thing about her yet and she doesn't look like someone that can have ulterior motives toward you." Grey scolded me but I couldn't accept that. I was sure about it and I knew she wasn't an ordinary girl like everyone else thought.
I knew from when I saw Zac in the meeting that he was annoyed about something and I could feel it was related to Monica. I've noticed it many times the way he looked at Monica as if she was his priceless treasure and it made me wonder why he let me have her when he could have just had her for himself. Thinking about it, he was the source of my problem because he was the one who brought the girl into my house as my Luna.
I asked him the question to confirm my suspicion and his silence proved me right. I was excited for a moment thinking he could take her away from my pack until I remembered she was already married to me and she was my Mate too. Griffin even accepted her as my mate so there was no way I could let her go easily when I could have held on to her. A Luna... she had been made a Luna already.
I teleported away from the garden and appeared in my room but she wasn't there and I was relieved. Excitedly, I lay in my bed and slept for a few hours, I woke up and she still wasn't back. I took a quick bath and put on a simple pair of trousers and a shirt before leaving the room again. I was going to continue enjoying myself until I found a solution for her.
I was about to leave the mansion when a maid ran up to me and knelt in front of me "What's it?" I asked coldly and she shivered. "It's My Lady." She mumbled and I frowned. "What's up with her?" I asked. I wanted to ask if she had caused trouble but no way wouldn't make the maid see her as a troublemaker and maybe disrespect her which I didn't want for some reasons unknown to me.
"My Lady told us that she wanted to visit the garden and we took her there but she asked us to leave her alone and we did. For three hours now, we've been searching for her but she is nowhere to be found. She is not in the garden and not in the mansion either. We saw her bracelet in the garden and this too..." She explained and showed me a pendant that was found in the garden.
I collected the pendant from her and opened it but my eyes widened when I saw a picture of small Monica with an Alpha and a woman beside him. "Are these her family?" I asked. "Yes, I think so. She looks so much like that woman." Grey replied and I sighed. Why would she drop her pendant and her bracelet in the garden and leave like that? Where could she have gone to? I was confused as I thought of where she could be. She knew nowhere in the Pack and her former pack was a very far distance from mine. So, there was no way she could go back there without any proper planning. Was it even a good place for her to return? No, she wouldn't want to return there.
"Did you see Lord Zac around?" I asked the maid who shook her head. "He had left immediately after the meeting and he didn't return." The maid replied to me and I frowned. Then, where could she have been?
"Maybe she was kidnapped? She might have been playing in the garden and got kidnapped." Grey suggested but I shook my head. "If that was the case, would you feel this relaxed? You would be feeling restless by now." I replied to him and he groaned "As if I've felt comfortable since yesterday. You kept hurting her and making her cry, how can I not feel restless? I had only kept quiet because I can see you have a lot on your mind." He replied grudgingly and my eyes widened. If that was the case... If Grey had been feeling uneasy, then could she have been kidnapped??!
I ran my fingers through my hair and closed my eyes to see if I would perceive her scent at all but I couldn't and my frown deepened. I knew I shouldn't be scared but I was getting scared. the thought of having her kidnapped and killed made me angry and scared. She was still my mate after all and a woman I must protect because she was my own. "I will go and look for her," I said to the maid and left the mansion.
I started walking around the Pack in search of her but I still couldn't find her. I felt like she was close but I couldn't perceive her scent which worried me a lot and I started running. I had run for only three minutes when I saw some rogues in front jumping excitedly while talking about something and my blood boiled. I stopped in my track and glared at them "Are they the reason I can't perceive her scent? Did they kiss my woman already?" I asked but I didn't wait for Grey to reply as I teleported and appeared in their middle.
Fear gripped them the moment they saw me but I didn't wait for them to gather their thoughts or try to explain anything before I tore them apart. I dirtied the ground with their dirty blood and that was when I could feel it, Monica was coming closer to where I was and my heart skipped. She mustn't see the blood on the ground or she might freak out.
I started panicking, thinking of how to make sure she did not see the dirty scene when I suddenly sensed her pass another route and I breathed in relief. But wait, why do I care about her?
