Chapter 222
Nick's POV
We watch Jan run back towards our territory, and she looks crazed. She is mad as she runs. The screaming stops when she gets closer to our border, and she growls.
"I'm glad we followed Crazy," Patrick chuckles in our mind link.
"Yes, she lost her shit now." We watch her open the tunnel door. We are going to have to change the codes, I think, as we creep behind her.
"Don't let her get too far ahead," Tyler says in the mind link.
"Did Megan come back yet?" I say in the group link.
"No, she is still in the parking lot crying. "She hasn't moved in forty minutes," a warrior says. It seems even Megan is second-guessing her mother's motives. Both are still money-hungry leeches. We head back to Savage, and I hope we get there in time to stop Jan and her craziness.
"Theo, how is our girl?" I mind-link him.
Still sleeping, Nick, we are watching her. Should I cook food?" he asks, and I grin.
"You don't have to, but I appreciate it if you get her to eat whenever she wakes up. Don't let her or her dad leave that panic room; her mom is on her way back there. She is going to try to take Lena or kill her." I link him. He growls in our link.
"She won't touch her. I swear on my life, she won't get a chance to hurt your mate, warrior Nick. James and I really like her, and to us she is family, so I vow on my wolf I won't let that woman hurt her." I sigh. That kid is going to be a great alpha like his dad. We follow Jan as she mutters to herself about how her life sucks thanks to Lena. Her cell phone rings, and she stops walking to answer.
"Mom, where are you?" Megan whines.
"Heading to Savage to collect your fucking sister. The man with her contract said either give her up or pay him off. I'm broke. Megan, your father cut me off of everything. I have no money or access to it. "Call your mate and ask him to wire me money," Jan orders.
"No," we all freeze at Megan's voice. No, I'm not doing shit. I'm leaving before I'm killed with you, Mom. You are on your own now. Dad was right. We are two broken pieces of shit that deserve death," Jan goes red-faced as she looks at her phone.
"Get to the warehouse and wait for me, Megan," she orders.
"No, I'm already driving away, Mom. I'm not coming back. I called my mate and told him we are leaving the state. I'm only coming back for my pup, and then I'm leaving again. You are fully on your own, and I won't be back." I want to laugh as Jan starts to stomp her feet like a child getting in trouble.
"You ungrateful little bitch!" Jan screamed as Megan hung up. Patrick smirks my way as all of Jan's planning has gone to shit. She walks forward and enters the tunnel, still cussing under her breath. We follow at a distance but enough to see where she is going.
Lena's POV
I woke to Theo and James talking softly and making food.
"Hi Lena," both say, smiling. I sit up, or try to; my belly is bigger, making it difficult.
"Hi guys." I look around, hoping to see my mates. "Where are my men?" I feel tears prick my eyes. James rushes to help me, and I start to cry.
"Easy now, tiny," he rubs my back, "please don't cry, warrior." Nick will kick our asses if he knows we made you cry. Are you hungry?" He looks ready to panic. I sniffle as I scoot to stand. He helps me, and I wipe at my face.
"I'm sorry," I'm embarrassed. I cry so easily now. Thanks to this pregnancy, I cry at the drop of a hat. "I'm just so hormonal and hungry, I guess." Both grin my way, and I'm lifted, shocking me.
