Matthew frowned, "I don't know either, I just felt it shouldn't be like this, so I suggested we should calm down first, and then she just..."
Ivy couldn't accept Matthew's suggestion to calm down, instead, she became more paranoid and crazy. No wonder she suddenly barged into my house before, trapping me in a nightmare, trying to kill me in my dream. It turned out it was because Matthew proposed to break up, so she went mad.
"Matthew, you're pretty sharp. I thought you would always be under her spell." I admired his strong self-control for being able to snap out of it on his own.
Matthew smiled without saying anything, his gaze shifted to the mansion door in front of us, and suddenly spoke, "Howard is coming out."
Following his gaze, I saw the mansion door slowly open, and a figure emerged.
Howard was wearing a black trench coat, his steps were steady and powerful, exuding a chilling aura.
As soon as Howard got into the car, he immediately checked on me, "Are you okay? Did she hurt you?"
He reached out to check me, then leaned in to look at the marks on my neck.
I felt a warmth, knowing he genuinely cared about me, but also felt a bit embarrassed.
I looked at Matthew beside me with some embarrassment, held Howard's hand, and pushed him away a bit. "We can talk, but don't touch me, there are people here."
Matthew had already turned his gaze away.
I cleared my throat and spoke seriously, "Where's Ivy?"
Seeing me ask about Ivy, Matthew immediately looked at Howard, with a bit of tension in his eyes that even he didn't realize.
"Here." Howard took out a ring, on the smooth cut gemstone, a faint black mist could be seen.
"Her resentment is too deep, it can't be eliminated."
I immediately suggested, "Then let's find my teacher, maybe he knows what to do."
"Your teacher?" Matthew looked at me with some surprise.
"A powerful Ghostbuster."
Matthew's expression was a bit complicated, obviously having many questions to ask me. It seemed like I'd been involved with some pretty different people during the time he was out of the loop.
"Matthew, I'll explain to you later. Right now, we need to get out of here quickly." The sky was gradually darkening, and a white mist was rising in the already dense forest.
I felt uneasy, if we didn't leave soon, we might not be able to leave.
The fog was getting thicker, and being unfamiliar with this forest would only make it harder to get out.
"I'll drive." Howard took the initiative to go to the driver's seat, seeing me sitting in the back without moving, he frowned. "Sit in the front."
"Why?"
Howard impatiently opened the car door, pulling me from the back seat to the front passenger seat. "Just sit in the front. No time for questions."
I didn't want to argue with him, getting out was the most important thing now.
Howard started the car, I fastened my seatbelt, watching the old mansion gradually recede in the rearview mirror, the unease in my heart slowly began to fade.
As the sky darkened, we finally left the forest before the last bit of sunlight vanished.
I had called Aiden in advance, and when we got out of the car, the butler came to greet us at the door.
"Is Mr. Martinez here?"
The butler nodded warmly, "Yes, and Ms. Martinez is also back."
He was referring to Amelia.
We entered The Martinez Villa.
The brightly lit villa made me feel exceptionally at ease. Amelia saw me return and immediately came over. "Karena, you're finally back, are you okay?"
She knew I went to find Matthew but hadn't heard from me, and couldn't reach me by phone, so she rushed back to The Martinez Villa.
I subconsciously touched the marks on my neck.
Amelia noticed right away. "Your neck."
I shook my head. "It's nothing serious."
Being able to come back alive was already a stroke of luck for me.
Aiden spoke calmly, "Sit down."
Amelia pulled me to sit on the sofa, she had already told Aiden the situation, and I had also explained Ivy's matter to him over the phone.
"Where's the thing?" Aiden looked at Howard.
Howard took out the ring and handed it to Aiden. "I sealed her in here."
Aiden examined the ring seriously, "The resentment is too strong, we need to find a way to resolve it, otherwise she can't reincarnate."
A complex expression crossed Matthew's gentle face, and he voiced softly, "Mr. Martinez, if there's anything I can help with, I'm willing to."
Aiden glanced at him and replied warmly, "This matter indeed needs your help, her obsession started because of you."
He handed the ring back to Howard. "Mr. Smith, can you find a way to release it?"
"Will she go crazy again?" I touched the red marks on my neck, speaking with lingering fear.
"Don't worry, I'm here," Aiden answered calmly.
Howard raised his hand and muttered a spell, the black mist in the ring floated out, leaving the gemstone behind.
I didn't know how their fight went down before, but now seeing Ivy's face full of scars, I realized how ruthless Howard had been.
I couldn't help but lean towards Howard and whispered, "Did you hit her too hard?"
He glanced at me coldly and snorted. "I just crippled her hands, I've been very merciful."
If it weren't for her deep resentment making her unkillable, she would have been long gone.
Anyone who dared to mess with his girl had to consider if they had the ability.
Ivy lay weakly on the ground, her gaze swept over everyone, then fixed on Matthew. "Matthew..."
Matthew pressed his lips together, with a bit of reluctance in his expression, but eventually turned his head away, ignoring her plea.
Aiden looked at Ivy, stroked his beard, and said calmly, "You shouldn't stay in this world, if you have any unfulfilled wishes, tell us, we'll help you complete them, then leave, don't linger in the human world."
"My wish," Ivy smiled bitterly in silence. "Even if I say it, you won't agree, right?"
Her gaze turned to Matthew again.
Seeing her so persistent, I couldn't help but frown and gently advised, "Ivy, why hold on? Sometimes being too persistent is not good for you."
Matthew and she were no longer from the same world, forcing it would only make her suffer.
"What does it have to do with you? Shut up." She snapped at me coldly, glaring unhappily.
Matthew stood in front of me. "Don't be like this, this has nothing to do with her."
