My cheeks flushed as he was teasing me about how I called him for help.
Even though we had made love, I really didn't know him at all and we couldn't really be considered close.
I reached out to push him away, sat up straight, and looked at him. "Although I don't know why you suddenly decided to become the school doctor, it's fine. If you want to, I won't stop you."
Everyone should have their own social circle. Even the closest people shouldn't stop their partner from making friends.
"Are you changing the subject?" He seemed a bit displeased.
"Why would I change the subject?" I brushed the stray hair by my ear, evading the topic.
"Then answer me, am I your boyfriend?" He knew that in human society, this was how couples who had not yet married were typically referred to.
I didn't know why he was suddenly so fixated on this answer. "Does it make a difference whether you are or not?"
No matter what, I couldn't get rid of him.
Howard suddenly let out a cold snort. "Whether you think so or not, I am your boyfriend. Besides me, don't even think about anyone else. If I find out..."
Before he finished speaking, I felt a chill down my spine and started to sweat.
He picked me up horizontally and headed straight to the bedroom. "Tonight, I'm going to pamper you."
I was speechless. "Howard, can you watch less TV in the future?"
I felt his sudden insistence on defining our relationship was like being influenced by TV dramas. Indeed, that TV at home shouldn't have been kept in our home; it was a bad influence.
"It's a tool to help me quickly understand your human society. What's wrong with that?" Howard said.
"But you can't learn everything from it."
With that, he threw me onto the bed, and as he leaned over, I immediately reached out to stop him. "Wait, I'm still wearing a necklace."
I remembered there was a ghost staying in the necklace. It would be too embarrassing to be overheard.
"Then let her get lost." Howard grabbed my necklace and threw it out the door. Then, with a wave of his hand, he closed the door.
The next morning, Howard went to school with me.
"Why? My foot is fine now." I pouted.
"Have lunch with me." he said with calm expression.
I immediately frowned. "Do you even need to eat?"
Howard glanced at me indifferently, as if I were an idiot. "Since I've decided to integrate into human society, if I don't eat, people will think I'm a monster. Even if I'm pretending, I have to do it convincingly."
"Then why do you need me to accompany you? Isn't there a nurse in the infirmary? If people find out about our relationship, are you sure you can stay at the school?" I expression my concerns.
"It's fine. I already talked to the principal yesterday and got her fired. The school doesn't need such a mean nurse." he said.
I suspected he might be using his position for personal vendetta, considering the nurse was indeed quite harsh with me yesterday. Thinking of this, I smiled. "Was it for me?"
He glanced at me and smirked, "You seem quite confident. I simply do not wish to have a woman obsessed with my looks around me, which would be highly disruptive to my work."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Clearly, his face attracted attention. Even without the nurse, the infirmary would still have plenty of visitors. His photo had already gone viral on the forum, with many posts discussing him. Everyone was betting on who could win over the aloof school doctor, with several single beauties at the school among them.
Thinking of the heated discussions on the forum last night, I couldn't help but glare at Howard. "Alright, I got it. I'll come find you then."
As soon as I stepped into the school gate, someone rushed up to me.
"I just saw you come to school with Dr. Smith. Do you know him?" The one asking was a classmate known for being gossipy. If I told her the truth, it would soon become public knowledge.
I chuckled and deliberately said, "No, we just ran into each other outside the school. I went to his infirmary for my foot yesterday, so he asked me a few questions out of concern. He's a very ethical school doctor."
Alice Baker didn't believe me and directly exposed my lie. "I just saw you get out of the same car. You're lying. Do you two really have something going on?"
Seeing her gossipy face and the obvious gleam in her eyes, I was startled and immediately became cautious. In a moment of tension, my mind worked quickly. "It's like this; I also found it a coincidence. We live in the same neighborhood and happened to take the same cab."
Alice clearly didn't believe me. "Really? You're not lying to me, are you? If you really have something going on, tell me. I promise I won't tell anyone."
Nonsense; if I told her, everyone in the school would know it.
I looked at her seriously, almost swearing to God. "Why would I lie to you? Dr. Smith is so handsome. If I really had something with him, why don't I announce it to the world."
Alice seemed convinced and nodded. "Exactly." Then she got excited and looked at me. "Can you tell me where his place is? I want to rent a place near him too. Maybe I can get the latest gossip."
I immediately refused and waved my hand. "That's his privacy. I dare not speak carelessly about it."
"Come on, just tell me. I promise I won't tell anyone." Alice said with pitiful expression.
"No, I can't do that. We're going to be late. Let's get to class before Chase catches us." With that, I ran off.
When I got to the classroom and had barely caught my breath, Amelia came up to me. "Why are you so tired?Did you run into Alice on the way?"
"She saw me and Howard coming to school together and kept asking me questions." I felt like I had just escaped a disaster.
"You can't tell her. She's known for being gossipy. There's no secret with her." Amelia said seriously.
I nodded, brushing my messy hair and realizing I seemed to be missing something today.
"Where's my necklace?" I suddenly remembered that Howard seemed to have thrown it into the living room last night, but I didn't see it this morning.
