dinner and peace
ORION’S P.O.V
I was right, the dress fit perfectly along with the glasses I had chosen and I couldn’t stop the glee that bubbled at the pits of my stomach.
‘I had gotten a something right about her.’ I thought with a smile.
“Astrid?” I called in a quiet voice, swaying us to the sound of the music.
“Hm” she said, taking in a deep breath.
“Thank you” she tensed, not saying anything as if waiting for me to continue, to which I did. “for being here. I know how much I messed up in the past, I am willing to make up for it in the future, but that does not mean I would force you to stay. I am just grateful that you gave me another chance to prove myself.”
She said nothing which stung me a bit but I did not let it get to me.
‘sooner or later, she was going to warm up to me’ I thought with a smile. I tightened my hold on her in an assuring way. “I know you are not comfortable with me right now so I would wait till you are”
“okay, I would make sure to let you know when I am” she said with a smile, but something about the way she said it made believe otherwise”
We continued to dance, falling into a comfortable silence.
“good night Astrid” I greeted after the night was over and led her to her room.
“good night Orion” she said with a smile, looking at me briefly before she looked away.
I looked at her, wanting to kiss her or at least get close to her again.
She was happy. I could tell that much from her essence. ‘I finally did something right’ I thought, smiling to myself.
“I would see you tomorrow?” I asked, to which she nodded. I watched her go in to her room, shoving the feeling of wanting to touch her, so that I did not ruin anything.
I smiled as I went back, almost adding a skip to my step as went back to my room.
**
As usual, I went back to my room, smiling at the events of the night. ‘Five nights in a row and I was yet to ruin anything’
I swung my door open, seeing my sister read some of the books that were stacked on the table.
“You are quite a bore brother. I thought for one that I would see something fascinating here, porn perhaps?” she teased, causing me to roll my eyes.
“Did you miss your way? Last I checked this is not your room”
“Well you should know by now that I am not bothered by those. these past few days have been nice thanks to me” she said with such pride which caused me to roll her eyes. Indeed the past few days were nice as she planned everything from the beginning to the end, but I was not going to admit that, it was only going to inflate her ego.
“I would be leaving for home world tomorrow” she said, picking my interest. There was no way she was going to willingly go back to that place. She was the first to branch of and never looked back
“for home world?” I asked to reconfirm.
“yes, father summoned me.” I saw how much she tried to cover up the fear but I could still see the fear.
“would you-“
“I would be fine” she said, putting her normal smiling face on.
I knew not to push, Karin was one that was overly sensitive but loved to cover it up with a smile.
“fine then, I wish you well” I said, saying nothing more
“of course, there is nothing else to wish me” she said, making me roll my eyes.
*
I was barely keeping things together as it was. It turned out that it was not as easy as it sounded, planning a dinner.
The day after Karin left I found that out the hard way.
I found myself apologizing to Astrid over and over again but she kept insisting that it was fine and that she very much loved it, for some reason, I did not believe that. There was no way she could be fine with that.
“what is the report?” I asked, watching the reports of the ship.
“she is fine, she has gotten a bit comfortable as she roams the ship more freely, my Prince” I smiled, feeling something funny at the pits of my stomach.
“make sure she is out of danger” I said, my mind going back to the time when she went through the hatch. I felt my chest constrict at the memory.
“yes my prince” he said, bowing his head as he went.
I watched the butler go, knowing that a single hair on her head going in disarray and he was not going to live to see the next day…
I woke up early the next day, practically running to her door step and then catching my breath before I knocked on the door.
“hey” she said, looking at me with these eyes that made my heart flip. She was dressed up already looking every bit like she was meant to be by my side, looking over the interstellar race.
“hi” I smiled, muttering under my breath.
“you look nice” she said, startling me. This was the first time she actually ever complimented me.
“you look breathtaking” I replied causing her to blush. I took her hands, leading her to the main place where I wanted to wipe memories of the past and just have just out memories, if that made any sense.
“you brought me to the…”
“the greenhouse” I said, smiling at her. It looked a bit different because I needed her to have a totally different memory, different from the last time she was here.
I smiled a little as I saw the smile in her eyes. “it’s beautiful!, she said, leaving my hand to roam a little into the garden.
“I love this!” she said with a smile in her eyes, but I was not done yet. I took her in my arms, wrapping her tightly as I set of to the one place I knew she would not regret
