Chapter 101 Damien’s rage
CHAPTER 101: Damien’s rage
Vera
“You seem quite sure that he's not your child's father,” Damien taunted. “Who told you so? Silas?”
“It doesn't matter. I’ve already given you everything! I have nothing left to give you, Damien. Go back to hell where you belong and leave us alone, you bastard!”
In the blink of an eye, he closed the space between us.
The blow came so fast I didn't see it. The slap sent my head reeling to the side, the sting radiating through my cheek. I felt a metallic taste in my mouth. I was yet to recover, when he reached out and twisted his fingers into my hair, yanking my head back until I was forced to look into his murderous, bloodshot eyes.
“How dare you speak to me in that manner?” He growled.
Panic surged through me as the pain radiated through my jaw, as well as my scalp. It felt like my hair was being pulled from the roots.
“Damien, let me go,” I struggled.
“Shut up, you tramp. I am going to enjoy ruining every single second of your life,” he hissed, his breath hot against my face as I struggled fruitlessly against his iron grip.
Hot tears flowed freely down my face. “Please… stop this. Y-you are hurting me.”
“Did you forget so soon that I still know the one secret you haven't told your perfect husband,” he taunted. “The one thing Silas doesn't know. The one thing that would make him turn his back on you and that bastard in your womb forever.”
I shook my head, as pain shot through my scalp. “Please…no,” I cried.
He released me with a shove and I fell backwards.
“Shall we find out how forgiving he is when he finds out who you really are?”
What Damien knows will ruin Silas’s reputation if it got out, and I couldn't afford to allow that to happen. But at the same time, I didn't want to remain as this devil's hostage.
“Please. Stop… this. I have nothing else to give you!” I screamed, the copper taste of blood filling my mouth as I managed to get up to a sitting position on the concrete floor. “I gave you every cent I had left!”
“Then get it from your husband,” he sneered, towering over me. “Don't make me laugh, amour. He’s a Rutherford. He's one of the richest—if not the richest man in the country. He bleeds gold. Tell him a lie. You’re good at that.”
It would be easy to get money from Silas if I told him a lie, but I wouldn't. I didn't want to.
“No,” I gasped, “I won't deceive him. Not again. I’m done paying you!”
The back of his hand cracked against my cheek, sending me reeling against the cold concrete floor. Tiny stars danced across my vision. “Then I’ll go to him myself,” he hissed, leaning down until his shadow loomed over me.
“You wouldn't—”
“Don’t dare me, cosa mia. I’ll tell him exactly what else you’re hiding… the part of the story you are too terrified to tell. He’ll learn exactly the kind of trash he's been harbouring.”
“No,” I gasped, laying on the floor, my hands instinctively shielding my stomach. My lip was busted and bleeding. I was drowning in pain, but the terror of Silas discovering the rest of the truth was a sharper blade. “Please... don't go to him. I’ll do anything.”
“Is that so?” His gaze darkened, trailing down to where my dress had ridden up, exposing my thighs. A sick, familiar, predatory hunger replaced the rage in his eyes. “Maybe there’s another way you can pay for my silence. A trade.”
My heart lurched. My blood ran cold.
“Damien, no!” I scrambled backward, but he lunged, his hands clamped around my ankle to drag me back.
I fought hard. “Don't… please Damien, don't!”
“Why not? It's not like it's the first time. Neither are you a virgin,” he sneered.
I begin to struggle harder amid tears of fright. “No, get away from me.”
I was not going to allow him to have his way with me. Silas had given me back a little of my dignity. If Damien succeeded with his evil desires, then I don't think I would ever recover from it.
I managed to pull away, but he lunged, his fingers locked around my ankle again, dragging me back across the floor, his face a mask of lust and rage.
He lunged forward, and his hand caught my jaw.
“You'd willingly open your legs for him—let him fuck you when he wants, but you refuse me?” he hissed, pinning me down as I fought with every ounce of my fading strength.
“He’s my husband!” I shrieked, landing a slap across his cheek.
His face cracked to the side. His palm slowly raised to rub his jaw and he turned back to me, his face, a mask of rage.
His face contorted in rage. “You bitch,” he roared, delivering a punch to my stomach. I coughed, doubling over in pain. “Husband?” He screamed. “He’s just a mark. But he'll be your executioner once I'm done!”
He began to pull up my dress with one hand while the other began to work his belt. Pain wracked all over my body. I didn't have the strength to keep fighting him, but I remembered that I was not alone anymore.
I had a little life that was depending on me. And I wasn't going to let my baby down. I gathered all the strength to fight once more.
“Don't!” I shrieked, kicking out blindly. My foot connected with his groin, and a guttural howl of pain ripped from his throat.
“You whore!” he roared. He doubled over in pain, clutching his groin. I tried to get up, but I couldn't. I felt weak and woozy from all the slaps I had received.
Unfortunately, Damien recovered a bit, and staggered, his face contorting into something demonic.
“You bitch,” he roared, and began raining blows down on me. I curled into a ball, my only thought was to shield my stomach, to protect my innocent baby, as Damien seemed to be deliberately targeting my stomach.
Suddenly, a terrifying warmth spread between my thighs.
“Please, not the baby... please!”
I looked down, and saw the crimson streak in between my thighs.
“No,” I whimpered, the world beginning to grey. “Please, not my baby.”
My vision began to spin, and the room began to tilt gray.
But then, the front door didn't just open… it exploded.
“Vera!”
