Chapter 31 Just Continue
Vivian's eyes were full of jealousy.
As something occurred to her, she clenched her fists.
The Russell Jewelry suddenly decided to hold a jewelry design competition to recruit design talent.
What a coincidence - the design director put her in charge of reviewing the submitted works from all the contestants and selecting qualified candidates for the official competition.
And she saw Xandra's name on the contestant list.
Xandra actually wanted to join the Russell Jewelry?
How could she possibly let Xandra into the company to steal her job?
So she eliminated Xandra right away.
Xandra was now just a powerless single mom.
She deserved to be a nobody that everyone could push around!
Let Xandra taste the humiliation of living at others' mercy!
She would never allow Xandra a chance to make a comeback!
A dark gleam flashed in Vivian's eyes as she carried the insulated food container into the hospital and headed toward the inpatient building.
Taking the elevator to the tenth floor, she pushed open the door to Lucius's room and saw him on the phone.
Yesterday Lucius had been beaten up and hospitalized.
She asked him who hurt him.
Lucius wouldn't say, only claiming it was a business dispute.
That's why she came to the hospital early in the morning to bring him breakfast.
Of course, what Vivian didn't know was that Lucius wouldn't tell the truth because he was afraid she'd find out about his little scheme.
If Vivian learned that he got beaten up because he still wanted to make Xandra his mistress, wouldn't she blow up at him?
"Got it, I'll be right there."
Lucius hung up the phone, his brow furrowed tight, and threw off the covers to get out of bed.
Vivian had been about to chat with him about Xandra's flash-marriage husband, but seeing this, she changed her mind.
"Lucius, where are you going?"
"Something happened at the company, I need to check out right now."
Vivian was stunned. "That urgent? What happened at the company?"
"A shipment was suddenly intercepted, and several suppliers called one after another, like they'd planned it, saying they want to cancel their contracts. I need to go deal with it right away."
Lucius felt a bit panicked.
He had a feeling that what happened at the company wasn't simple.
It was like someone was deliberately messing with him.
Frederick drove Xandra and Margaret back to Riverside Estates.
The two kids at home weren't awake yet.
But Richard was waiting for them on the living room sofa.
"You're back? Is Maggie okay?"
"She's fine now, the fever's gone." Xandra replied.
"That's good. Hurry and take the child back to the room to rest."
Richard also breathed a sigh of relief.
Frederick gave him a cold glance and carried the still-sleeping Margaret toward the master bedroom.
Xandra followed him in.
Frederick gently placed Margaret on the bed and said to Xandra, "You sleep a bit more with Maggie. I'll go make breakfast."
Xandra felt both warmth and guilt in her heart.
This Frederick hadn't slept all night, and now he was going to make them breakfast!
This kind of husband was basically a god-tier husband!
As the saying goes, blessings and misfortunes come together.
She should actually thank Lucius for letting her meet such a wonderful husband.
"Let me help you."
"No need, you'll only make things worse."
Xandra fell silent.
The gratitude in her heart quietly slipped away.
Fine, she wouldn't help then!
Give her some time, and she'd definitely impress him!
Outside, Frederick went to the kitchen to make breakfast.
Richard walked in. "Did you drink all that soup last night?"
Of all things to bring up.
Frederick took ingredients from the fridge, his voice somewhat cool.
"If you want your grandson to drop dead, just keep it up!"
Richard touched his nose and instinctively glanced at a certain part of him.
"It's not that bad. It's tonic soup, not some aphrodisiac. The soup is full of medicinal herbs - it's only good for your body, no harm."
Frederick tossed the steak in his hand into the sink, the casual gesture somehow carrying an intimidating presence.
"Tonight I'll have the servants make you some tonic soup too, to boost your health?"
Richard choked. "I don't have a wife. Are you trying to kill me?"
Frederick gave a light snort. "How could that be? The tonic soup is full of medicinal herbs - it's only good for your body, no harm."
Richard fell silent.
Using his own words against him?
"Were you interrupted by the kid last night? You're not really suffering, are you?"
Don't get angry, don't get angry!
Remember, this is your own grandfather!
Frederick took a breath. "Just go home already! My patience has limits!"
Richard pouted. "Be nicer to me. As the saying goes, having an elder at home is like having a treasure. Look, when you guys had something come up, I could watch the kids for you."
"I can hire help!" Frederick picked up the steak to defrost it.
"You're just a little assistant right now, aren't you? Can you even afford to hire help? Aren't you afraid of blowing your cover?"
Frederick picked up a knife and slapped it on the cutting board.
Richard knew his grandson's patience had reached its limit.
"Alright, you don't need to kick me out. I'll leave in a couple days on my own."
Not only would he leave, he'd take the kids with him!
Then his grandson would thank him!
Frederick quickly finished making breakfast.
The three children woke up one after another.
Margaret's fever was completely gone. Full of energy, she was now proudly showing off to her brother and sister.
"Last night I slept with Mommy and Mr. Flores! Mommy slept on my left, Mr. Flores slept on my right. I was so happy!"
Elizabeth's eyes went wide with envy.
"Mr. Flores let you sleep with him?"
"Yes!"
"I want to sleep with them too!"
Margaret giggled. "And I called Mr. Flores Daddy!"
Elizabeth's eyes went even wider. "Mr. Flores agreed?"
"Of course!"
Hearing this, Charles frowned slightly.
"Who told you to change how you address him? Didn't I tell you not to do it so quickly?"
Maggie blinked her big eyes.
"Why not? Chuck, are you worried about whether Mommy likes Mr. Flores?"
Charles nodded. "Of course!"
"Chuck, Mommy definitely likes Mr. Flores. Didn't we ask her yesterday?"
"But Mommy didn't give a direct answer."
Elizabeth chimed in, "But Great-grandpa said that's because Mommy was shy."
Charles was speechless. It was really too hard to communicate with two lovesick sisters.
"Chuck, I really like Mr. Flores so much!"
Margaret said in a sweet childlike voice, "Yesterday when I had a fever, he took me to the hospital for an IV."
Charles frowned slightly and touched her forehead like a little adult.
"You had a fever again?"
"The fever's gone now."
Margaret giggled. "Let me tell you, Mr. Flores even introduced me to the nurse, saying I was his daughter!"
She looked so proud, which drew another wave of envy from Elizabeth.
Elizabeth made a secret decision.
"What are you three whispering about? Come eat breakfast."
Xandra called out from the dining room.
Elizabeth jumped up, spotted Frederick, and ran toward the dining room on her little legs.
"Daddy, I want to sleep with you tonight!"
Frederick fell silent.
Xandra fell silent.
"Beth is jealous!"
Margaret ran over. "Daddy, can we all sleep with you tonight?"
The two little ones each hugged one of his legs, looking up at Frederick with bright, sparkling eyes.
Frederick's heart melted at their cuteness, unable to say any words of rejection.
Xandra laughed. These two kids - when did they start calling him Daddy?
So tonight, should she sleep in her daughter's room?
Of course, the two daughters' wish to sleep with Frederick didn't come true.
Because Frederick went on a business trip to a neighboring city that same day and didn't return until the third night.
And at that moment, Xandra was eagerly waiting for a reply from the Russell Jewelry.
But what came instead was a rejection email.
