Chapter55
Only the rich or powerful could eat here.
Zachary held Gabrielle’s hand and, led by the waiter, came to the reserved best spot by the window.
The appearance of the two drew a lot of attention again.
The guy was handsome and tall, with a strong presence.
The woman was cool and aloof, with an elegant vibe.
Like a perfect couple, wherever they went, they were the center of attention.
Especially that “One and Ever” pink diamond necklace around Gabrielle’s neck.
Shining with a charming light under the lamp, it silently told of her noble status.
Quite a few people who knew their stuff recognized the value of this necklace.
The way they looked at Gabrielle was even more full of amazement and envy.
Zachary pulled out the chair for Gabrielle, his movements gentlemanly and graceful.
The two sat facing each other, and the bustling night view outside the window was their backdrop.
“The night view here was beautiful.”

Gabrielle genuinely admired.
“Even the most beautiful thing wasn’t one–tenth as good as you.”
Zachary looked at her, his eyes gentle and full of affection.
Sweet words came easily, tugging at the heartstrings.
Gabrielle felt a little embarrassed by his gaze and lowered her eyes a
bit.
The waiter brought the menu, but Zachary didn’t look at it and just ordered the restaurant’s top set meal.
He didn’t care what to eat, he cared about who to eat with.
While they were waiting for the food, Zachary’s phone buzzed.
He picked it up and took a look. It was a message from his subordinate.
About Cristofer’s.
His eyebrows furrowed just a little, then he put his phone away.
Gabrielle noticed his subtle change of expression.
“Was there any news from Cristofer’s side?”
She asked softly, her heartstrings a little tense.
Zachary didn’t want her to worry, but he also didn’t want to hide it from her.
“Well, he met with the Herring Group people this afternoon.”
Gabrielle paused for a second, “the Herring Group? The one that Mrs. Herring…

“Right.” Zachary nodded.
“Cristofer seemed really interested in the Herring Group’s troubles.”
“And, it meant they could consider offering help.”
Gabrielle’s heart sank.
Cristofer and the Herring Group got mixed up together, and that was definitely not good news.
Theresa just got screwed over by her and Zachary here today.
With her personality, she definitely couldn’t swallow this.
If Cristofer showed interest in her, she would probably tell Cristofer something just to get back at him.
For example, about Mrs. Monroe and the thing where “Irene” just showed up out of nowhere.
They might have even exaggerated things to make her look bad.
“He was coming for us,” Gabrielle said firmly.
Cristofer got close to Theresa, but it was never really to help the Herring Group.
His target was definitely still her.
I wanted to find out more about her through Theresa.
“I know.” Zachary held/her hand, his eyes sharp.

“Cristofer was even more difficult to deal with than I thought.”
“He seemed gentle, but he actually moved carefully and was very thoughtful.”

“Mrs. Herring was just a pawn to him.”
Zachary already expected that Cristofer would take advantage of Theresa.
But he didn’t expect it to be this fast.
“Then what about us…” Gabrielle was a bit worried.
“Don’t worry.” Zachary patted the back of her hand reassuringly.
“I already had someone take care of it.”
“Even if Mrs. Herring wanted to say something, she had to think about the consequences.”
“As for Cristofer, he wanted to play, I was in all the way.”
Zachary’s tone was calm, but it carried an undeniable confidence.
In Mossvale, it was his turf.
Cristofer wanted to stir up trouble here, but it wasn’t that easy.
The first dish was brought up, looking as delicate as a piece of art. Truffle foie gras, caviar, fancy plating, smelled amazing.
“Eat first.” Zachary picked up his knife and fork and motioned to Gabrielle.
“The sky fell down, I held it up.”
Gabrielle looked at his confident eyes, and her uneasiness slowly faded.
Yeah, she had to trust him.
Chapter55
The two started eating, and the atmosphere became warm again.
Zachary would tell her some fun stories about Mossvale from time to time.
Gabrielle shared some of her recent thoughts
on reading.
They were just like a regular loving couple, enjoying some rare time together.
However, the calm was always short–lived.
Just as they were enjoying their main course, an uninvited guest showed up at their table.
The person who came in was a well–dressed, sharp–looking Asian man in his middle age.
He had a professional smile on his face, but his eyes paused on Gabrielle for a moment.
“Mr. Monroe, Mrs. Monroe, good evening.”
The middle–aged man leaned forward a bit, looking respectful, but there was also a hint of calm confidence.
