I tried to hide the body vibrating yawn, trying not to seem disrespectful as Spade spoke to the couple across from us.
And I frowned, not a fan of the wife as she hasn't stared at anything but him, screwing with her wedding ring.
I wondered how many times she screwed men behind her husbands back.
Because she was not hiding it.
And it was beginning to piss me off.
I folded my hands together in my lap, keeping my face clean of any malice I felt.
This was Spades business arrangement and I wouldn't mess it up for him. Besides, it wasn't his fault he was leg-cross worthy.
So I understand.
Anytime he's admired by the public, I understand.
Never do I think I have felt jealous until now.
Not jealous but more of a fury. Territorial.
A woman was sitting beside her husband, began this with asking questions he didn't care to answer, she's toying with her ring like it was optional to wear it, infidelity was disgusting.
Adultery was just vile.
But I would keep my thoughts silent. I wasn't petty, and I didn't stoop low. I was and have always been mature and classy. I would remain as such.
I studied the woman with eyes unwilling to hide, I mentally judged the perm she had, the fake lips, the fake breasts.
Her makeup was merely flawless however, and the rest of her just existed.
Fake hips, fake ass, I could tell because her thighs weren't even proportionate.
Then I felt sorry for her husband. She wasn't pretty enough to commit something so nasty.
But gold diggers are like that.
I took a quiet, deep breath as the waiter came around.
"Alright are we ready to order?" He asked.
She immediately blurted out her order of a house salad, extra grilled chicken, and extra sauce, no grilled onion.
"Amore." His voice being directed toward me in a non professional tone immediately calmed me.
"Uhm, the chicken Alfredo, and may I ask to have the large chunks of broccoli removed?" I asked and the woman snorted, my eye twitched.
She better watch it because I'm scrappy. I sighed.
"Yes ma'am, for you gentlemen?"
They ordered and I returned my gaze to my hands in my lap.
Spade put his hand over both of my balled up ones.
"What's the matter?" He asked quietly.
"Nothing." I smiled, looking at his face.
I don't know if this made sense, because he was was real, but he was my real life comfort character.
"Liar." He mumbled so quietly before kissing my cheek.
"May I ask who you are to him?" The woman across from me laid her elbows on the table, her chin on her hands.
"Isn't setting your elbows on the table improper?" I asked and she immediately dropped her smile as she put them under the table.
"My question remains."
"She's my wife, Loretta." Spade answered.
"Oh alright. Newlyweds, how adorable. You know, the honeymoon phase doesn't last forever. Things change when you see what it's really like." She shrugged.
"Well I believe we will be successful as I don't commit adultery." I smiled.
Her husband looked at her, shocked and her jaw snapped shut.
"You know nothing of me girl." She whispered, angered.
I laughed.
"I don't, you're right, and I'm grateful I know nothing, however, you've been staring at my husband as if he'd ever look in your direction. You've been playing with your wedding ring the whole night when you have many other rings on. He doesn't kiss silicone, honey." I felt so good getting that off my chest. I know it was rude, but I didn't appreciate her attitude.
She grabbed her purse, standing.
"Lovely meeting you, Loretta." I smiled as she left.
"Excuse me, great talking to you Spade. I'll call you since we didn't finish. Ace, thank you, I've been waiting to end this marriage and you gave me the perfect public out." He smiled at me, offering his hand which I stood to shake.
"Certainly." I nodded and he left.
I sat.
"Jealous, principessa?" He asked.
"Of that? Never. Territorial, absolutely." I nodded.
He smiled.
"You should call me your husband again." He whispered to me, pulling my chair closer to his.
"No. You're not actually it." I held up my empty finger.
"What do you want? A big wedding? Elope? I have your ring." He said and I gaped at him.
"You do?" I asked.
"Yes. I'm committed. It'll never be not you." He shrugged.
"How about we elope? Nothing big, no one has to even know. It'll make it fun." I smiled.
"You're willing to do that? You don't want a big wedding or honeymoon?" He asked.
"I think, if you're alright with it, I'll move into your place, and we make mine a giant library. Unless you have ideas then I'm totally willing to not do that." I grabbed his hand and held it in my lap, playing with his rings.
"Of course we will make your library. And I'll do whatever you wish." He said.
I smiled, joyful.
This was the perfect beginning to my romance story.
Or my villain origin story since my soon to be husband was a killer.
I don't know but I'm excited to find out.
