Chapter 42: Their business dinner (part 1)
**Lawrence's POV**
I don’t want her to think that I’ll cheat on her. She saved my face from that time, and she doesn’t deserve to be cheated on. Plus, I have things that I realize. Gianna is not even close to Justine.
My wife is genuinely beautiful in all aspects. Things from the past are now flashing in my head. I remember how she handled us whenever we picked on her. We bullied her until she cried or even got hurt because of our so-called pranks.
"Yup. I don’t have to worry because you promised me so. Besides, it should be a conversation between the two of you. Like I said, I trust you on this," Justine murmurs. I grin.
"Okay then. Don’t worry, my love. I won’t cheat on you," I whispered.
She smiled and nodded. I saw that she’s worried, but the trust that she’s telling me is true, and it’s not a lie at all. I drove her back to their house. It feels wrong to leave her when she’s having an emotional struggle.
I knock on her grandma’s door, and she opens it right away. She moves her glasses down. Look at me in the eyes. She’s holding a book as well.
"Can I speak with you?" I ask. She opens the door wider and lets me in. I can smell the perfume she’s using.
I wait for her to offer the sofa and make me sit. "Take a seat," she muttered.
"Grandma, I have a concern. I have to meet with my ex-fiancée to discuss my shares in her cosmetic company. I am selling my shares and have completely cut my ties with her. Uhm…"
I continue my story and tell her how she misinterprets the conversation I had with Gianna. Grandma Marissa sighed. “That’s normal. My granddaughter was your rebound, and even if she’s the one who told you about your fiancée’s infidelity, she’s still afraid of her shadow. They said first love was the greatest enemy of a current partner,” she paused.
Grandma closes her book and takes off her eyeglasses. She points her finger at me. “The question is, are you really sure that you won’t cheat on her? You yourself knew how painful that would be. What if, when you see her again, you’ll beg and win her back?” Grandma added. I guess hearing those words from her is better because she knows what Justine is thinking.
“Well, I know myself better than anyone. Thank grandma for giving me the answer that I want from my wife,” I stated.
I stood up and bowed my head before I walked away. I stopped before reaching the doorway. “I never said Gianna was my first love,” I remarked, leaving a smirk before I walked out of her room.
I check on my wife in her office. She’s wearing her glasses too while using her laptop. “You’re still here? I thought you had already left. You’ll be late if you don’t leave now,” she says.
I walked closer and lifted her head, then kissed her torridly. I saw how her pupils dilated, and she seems surprised because of what I did. I smiled after that.
“We should go together. I want you to see something that will answer all your worries. Please? Hmm?” I persuaded.
I even held her chin, and then my fingers were pinching her cheeks. I closed her laptop and held her hand.
“Give me ten minutes. I’ll wear something appropriate,” she says. I smiled and nodded. I wait for her in the living room. I saw her walking on the stairs wearing a simple floral dress.
I notice a certain frame upstairs. I smiled at her. Her grandma really loves my wife. “Let’s go?” I stated, handing my hand so that she’ll hold it. She held my hand and smiled sweetly.
“Whoa. How can you be this pretty even in simple clothes? You should be a model too,” I complimented. She laughs.
She held my arms and kissed me on the cheek. “Maybe I look pretty because you love me?” she teases. I give her a thumbs-up.
“I think so too. Don’t blame me if others see you ugly,” I joke. Justine smiled.
“I don’t care as long as I’m the prettiest for you,” she says.
I guess I could never win against her. In business, we’re really rivals, and she always wins because of her great skills in business. She knows how to win against me.
“Let’s go?” I suggest.
She nodded and smiled. After getting inside the car, I drove it away. It took us fifteen minutes to arrive at the restaurant where I had to meet Gianna. In the parking lot, we saw Jaxon and Gianna walking towards the restaurant’s front door.
I scoff and smirk after that. I looked at my wife, and she saw what I just did. I raised my hand and caressed her cheek. She looks at me. “No matter how many years have passed, you’re still the prettiest, Justine Martinez…” she whispers. She looks confused while looking at me. My hand slipped into her neck and pulled her closer. I claimed her lips.
She moans but responds with my kiss. I lick my lower lip after. “I’m glad. You’re now mine,” I whispered.
I smiled and took off my seatbelt. I walked out of the car and opened the car door on her side. Justine walks out, and I hold her hand right away.
“Let’s end this quickly and have a great night together.” She just smiled, but I know she was a bit confused. As soon as we got inside, we saw those two sitting on a table near the glass wall. They notice our presence. We walk closer to their table.
I pulled a chair for my wife, then took my seat afterwards. “You even bring your fatso here,” Jackson says right away.
I was about to speak when my wife laughed devilishly. “Right, the fatso that you even molested and tried to rape. How funny it is, right?” she talks back.
I didn’t hide my smile. She can really nail every word she’ll say when someone tries to trample on her dignity. “Why did you bring this bitch, huh?!”
I met my ex’s eyes after I heard what she said. “Then what is he doing here? You brought an asshole with you, Gianna. You really think I didn’t know you two? Oh, please, there are things that will never change, right?” I growled madly.
She gritted her teeth, and I can hear that. She thought they could have this chance to make me look like a boy trying to get his ex-fiancée.
“This business is just between the two of us!” she asserts.
I chuckled and shook my head. “Then make him leave,” I demanded. Gianna turned pale because of what I just said.
"Hah! You’re just bitter because Gianna chose me over you, Lawrence. You’re just nothing but a sad boy who’s trying to win a girl who never wanted you," Jaxon asserts, mocking me with his disgusting smirk.
I brush my nose and look at them with pride. I look at him in the eyes while pointing my finger at his so-called fiancé. I looked at Gianna, and she turned pale.
"Why? You look pale so suddenly, Gianna? Don’t tell me you saw a ghost behind me?" I stated. She must have remembered something that terrifies her while we’re still together. I laugh.
"Relax, Jaxon. I am here to talk about business, and nothing else matters. Don’t get ahead of yourself. That will kill you, cousin. Anyway, I bought the necessary papers." I halt.
I place the folders on the table and look at them with my eyes. Jaxon grabs it and scans the contract. "I need the money in my bank account tonight. I don’t want to have any involvement from the two of you, especially in business," I added.
Gianna grabbed the folder and signed it right away. I grab the other copy and look at her in the eyes. "You don’t look happy, Gianna…"
