Chapter 133 Admitting Guilt
"What? Speak up!"
Brian's eyes flashed with a mix of surprise and anger.
"Sir, I swear, I don't know anything. Ms. Evans brought me here, promised me $300,000 to go on a date with her."
Gage, desperate to save himself, started rambling, trying to concoct a plausible lie.
"So you're saying your intention wasn't to harm Seraphina, but to go on a date with this Ms. Evans?"
Brian frowned slightly, puzzled.
"Yeah, that's right."
Gage nodded quickly, hoping this lie would get him out of trouble.
He dared not expose Zane at this moment because his entire family worked at Zane's dock. If he angered Zane, his family would be in dire straits.
"Does this woman have any distinguishing features besides her last name, Evans?"
Brian asked another question, recalling Angelina's advice not to jump to conclusions and wrongfully accuse someone, not to view Monica with prejudice.
But Gage's next words shattered his tolerance instantly.
"I only know that Ms. Evans is pregnant."
Gage said this while lying on the ground, glancing sideways at Brian.
He thought, if he told the truth, Zane wouldn't spare him either. It was better to go along with the lie.
After all, that college student was also hired by the Evans family for a part-time job, right? Let her take the fall; it probably wouldn't lead to anything fatal.
"Get him out of here."
Brian said coldly, his voice filled with disgust.
"Yes, Mr. Robinson. And about what he mentioned..."
The assistant asked cautiously.
"Wait until Brandon comes out. I need to discuss it with him; after all, it's his wife."
Brian's eyes flashed with complex emotions. This time, he felt his judgment was correct; Monica was indeed not simple.
He wondered how Angelina would continue to protect that malicious woman.
He thought to himself, sneering, wiping his hands, and sitting on the couch to light a cigar.
At that moment, Monica emerged from the room, rubbing her eyes, appearing in his line of sight.
Brian's face instantly darkened upon seeing Monica.
"Stop right there! You think you can get away after what you've done?"
His voice echoed through the hallway like a thunderclap.
Monica was startled by the shout. She looked solemnly at Brian on the couch at the end of the hallway, puzzled.
"What's going on, Brian? Did something happen?"
Her eyes were filled with confusion, completely unaware of what had transpired.
"Don't play dumb with me!"
Brian stood up, taking a few strides to reach Monica, extending his hand to grab her by the throat.
Monica quickly stepped back, brushing Brian's hand away.
"Brian, if there's something to discuss, let's talk it out. Don't resort to violence. I'm Brandon's wife, not yours. You can't just lay hands on me!"
Her voice was firm and strong, showing no fear of Brian's anger.
"Hmph, you shameless woman!" Brian said furiously.
"Dating and cheating, and then deliberately framing Seraphina."
"Do you think by doing this, you can completely replace her in Brandon's heart?"
"Do you think by ruining her, the Robinson family won't accept her anymore?"
"Dream on! A malicious woman like you will only give birth to crippled children!"
His words were like sharp arrows, piercing Monica.
"You... you! Brian, how can you say such vile things about the child I'm carrying, your Robinson family bloodline?"
Monica's eyes flashed with anger and grievance, looking at Brian in disbelief.
"Bloodline? You think you can stay in the Robinson family?"
Brian sneered.
"With what happened today, sending you to jail would be lenient. You should think about how to face Brandon's wrath!"
He punched the wall behind Monica, leaving a shallow imprint to vent his anger.
At that moment, Brandon emerged from the adjacent room, seeing the confrontation between the two.
Brandon shook his head slightly, staring at Monica in disbelief, scrutinizing her as if he had never known her.
His eyes were filled with disappointment, cold as ice.
He raised his hand, intending to slap Monica.
Seeing this, Monica knew the brothers had a huge misunderstanding about her.
This time, she didn't dodge but instead stepped forward towards Brandon, raising her face.
"Go ahead, hit me! You don't even ask questions before hitting me. Even a judge tells a criminal their crime before sentencing them to death!"
Her eyes were full of questioning, making Brandon stop his action for the first time.
Could it be? Was she really innocent?
"You want to hear it? I'll tell you!"
Brian then grabbed Monica's arm, dragging her into Seraphina's room.
His actions were rough, his anger making him lose his rationality.
Monica, dragged into the room, saw the mess and bloodstains on the bed, her pupils shrinking instantly.
"What... what's going on?"
Her voice was filled with shock and confusion.
She then saw Seraphina, though dressed, her hair still messy, and the bruises on her body not fully covered.
Those marks were like blades, stabbing at Monica's heart.
"This is your doing!"
Brian pushed Monica, making her fall to the ground.
Monica immediately protected her belly, fearing for the child's safety.
"I... what did I do to make you so angry? Whatever happened to Seraphina has nothing to do with me!"
Monica could guess what had happened.
"You still say it has nothing to do with you!"
Brian walked over, stepping on Monica's hand supporting her on the ground.
Monica cried out in pain, the sharp agony almost unbearable. She pounded Brian's leg, but seeing no response, she made a biting gesture.
Brian then withdrew his leg, cursing, "Mad dog!"
Monica stood up, grabbing an ashtray from the table to protect her chest, her eyes filled with determination and resolve.
"Whatever false charges you want to pin on me today, I don't care."
"But whatever happened to Seraphina in this room has nothing to do with me."
"I was at the party, felt tired, rested in the room for a while, and came out to see you all acting crazy."
