Chapter 126 Opening Dance
Brandon held Monica tightly, like he wanted to fuse her into his own body.
Ethan adjusted his glasses with a slender finger, a slight smirk playing on his lips as he watched them walk away.
"Is that so?" he murmured softly, his eyes gleaming with a hint of something deeper, as if he was plotting something.
Seraphina saw the whole scene from the shadows of the corridor.
She clenched her fists so tightly that her long nails dug into her palms, but she didn't seem to notice.
Her eyes burned with jealousy and anger. 'Why? How could a nobody like her attract the heirs of both the Maplewood and Oceancrest families? She must have used some dirty tricks.'
Seraphina cursed Monica silently, her jealousy spreading like wildfire in her heart.
Her body trembled slightly, her face contorted with envy.
Laura also noticed Seraphina's expression and smirked mockingly.
"Pathetic. Watching your man get taken away, and all you can do is sulk here? What's the point?"
She sneered, casting a disdainful glance at Seraphina.
Laura tugged at the sleeve of a greasy-haired man beside her, nodding towards the direction where Monica was about to disappear around the corner.
"See her? There's going to be an opening dance soon, and during the intermission, people usually go back to their rooms to rest."
Her voice was low and sinister.
"But how do I know which room she's in?"
The man in the leather jacket licked his lips, his eyes fixed on the direction Monica had gone.
That girl was really something, with a pure, schoolgirl look.
And she was pregnant, which made his thoughts even more twisted. She'd probably put up quite a fight, right?
The thought excited him, and his body reacted.
He rubbed his hands together, his eyes filled with greed and desire.
Laura noticed his reaction and felt even more disgusted, but her smile grew more cunning.
She was plotting, waiting for Monica to be ruined. Would Brandon still want her then?
If he ended up in another coma, would he agree to let the Evans family send another daughter as a lucky charm?
Her eyes gleamed with malice, imagining Monica's downfall.
"Hey, what are you spacing out for? How am I supposed to know which room she's in?"
The man in the leather jacket reached out and wiped his hand across Laura's face, making her almost gag from the greasy touch.
Laura snapped back, feeling like her face had been licked by a snake. She suppressed her nausea and spoke. "Are you stupid? Just keep an eye on her."
She glanced at the man in the leather jacket with disdain.
"But Ms. Evans, there are so many people here. If I keep staring at her, others will notice."
The man, though bold, wasn't completely brainless. He looked around warily.
"Alright, alright! You're useless. I'll keep an eye on her," Laura snapped. "You just wander around and don't draw attention. Once I figure out her room, I'll send you the location."
"Remember, tonight she has to be ruined. And send me the photos immediately."
Laura's voice was filled with venom, her eyes cold. Her voice trembled slightly, as if she was trying to suppress her anger.
"But Ms. Evans, even though the Robinson family hired an actress to play Mrs. Robinson, she's still someone they brought in. If we're caught, it'll be trouble."
The man in the leather jacket was still a bit scared. The Robinson family wasn't to be trifled with. He swallowed hard, a hint of fear on his face.
"What are you afraid of? This place is huge. You don't know how to run? If someone knocks, just jump out the window."
"Just get the photos. You don't have to actually do anything. Strip her, take the photos, and send them to me. Are you stupid? Or are you planning to take advantage of her? How did Zane end up with such a useless lackey?"
Laura looked at him with disdain, hands on her hips, eyes blazing with anger.
"Ms. Evans, I'm just making sure. It's my first time doing this, so I'm not familiar."
The man smiled obsequiously, trying to please Laura.
"Just remember, Zane must have told you. If you get caught, don't mention my name. Otherwise, it's not just your safety at stake. Your whole family's lives are in Zane's hands. Think about it."
Laura's voice was cold and threatening. Her tone was low and chilling.
"Yes, Ms. Evans, I understand. Don't worry. Zane promised me $300,000. I was wondering..."
The man rubbed his hands, greed shining in his eyes. He seemed to already see the money within his grasp.
"Yes, you'll get every penny. Here's $50,000 as a deposit. I've transferred it. The rest will be in cash, delivered to you tomorrow afternoon."
Laura said impatiently. She checked her phone for the transfer record.
"Thank you, Ms. Evans. I won't disappoint you."
The man patted his chest, grinning. He seemed confident about the money he was about to receive.
"Good."
Laura turned away, quickly pulling out a handkerchief to wipe her face, trying to erase the greasy touch. Her body trembled slightly, her disgust evident.
At 8:30 PM, the lights in the ballroom dimmed, casting a soft, intimate glow over the room.
Gentle music began to play, and people started moving towards the dance floor.
As was tradition, the first dance was usually performed by the host and hostess of the event.
