Chapter 23 All Fired Up
Once inside the house, it was up to Julianna to convince her drunken mother to go out partying. As much as she hated the thought of her mother out drunk, if she stayed in the house, she had a much stronger chance of being hurt. Or worse. Killed.
It didn't take much convincing, and luckily enough, she was the only one they had to worry about getting out of the house. Their older sister Kayla was already out, most likely clubbing again, and their little brother practically lived with their remaining grandparents. This meant that they would have all the space that they needed and there would be no danger of anyone growing suspicious and asking any unwanted questions.
After their mother had left, Julianna gave her brother, Marcus and Eric the all clear. Before she got a second look at the three of them, Joshua's red eyes and seven tails were on full display, Marcus had shifted from human to wolf. His golden eyes standing out in the dim lighting of the house. His grey fur ruffled. He was clearly ready to fight.
Turning her head in Eric's direction, she saw that he had also shifted into his wolf form, but unlike Marcus, Eric's wolf was much bigger, and instead of grey furr, he had a midnight black coat that was also ruffled just like Marcus's. Here come the supernatural squad, she thought to herself jokingly.
Seeing the three of them as their supernatural selves made her feel odd. She felt as though she was the weakest link, like she would screw everything up for them since unlike the three of them she had no supernatural powers. At least not yet. Ever since it was first mentioned that she would face the transition, she had often wondered why nothing had happened yet. It felt like the universe was punishing her for some unknown reason. She wanted to be able to fight better so that they stood a better chance at winning this battle. Especially since she knew what Marcus was like, he would fight to the death for those he loved.
Pushing that silly thought aside, she locked the front door as the boys headed up the stairs. After making sure that the lock was securely in place, she quickly caught up to the three of them.
Being the last to enter her brother's room, she looked over to where Joshua was standing. Clearly he could see something that the rest of them couldn't. Maybe he was the only one who could see the doorway since he was the only one of them with a dark side. For now at least. She thought again bitterly.
"Hey guys.... I think I found it." Joshua informed them, causing Marcus and Eric to look up from where they were sniffing around and gather round beside him. Julianna quickly rushed to them too but her sight was soon blocked by the three boys standing shoulder to shoulder around the doorway.
The two werewolves were the first to jump through the doorway, with the help of Joshua getting them in exactly the right spot.
Next Joshua turned to Julianna with a look that said 'be back soon' and turned towards the doorway that only he could see. Before he had the chance to jump through, she grabbed him back by the back of his jacket.
"Was that the plan all along? To just fight this battle without me?" She quizzed, feeling furious. How could they do that to her? Did they seriously think that she was just going to let them go alone?
"Sorry Jules... but you haven't made your transition yet. We can't risk it. It's too dangerous for you, and we need to focus on fighting our enemies which we can't do if we have to save you from everything. If you join us, then we'll most likely be killed." He explained. But before she could reply, he stepped through. Leaving her feeling absolutely helpless, and furious.
Now it was clear what they all thought of her. They thought that just because she was a late bloomer that she would be of no use to them. That she would be their downfall. She may only be human still, but she definitely wasn't useless. But clearly they wanted her to stay out of their way. Ouch. That hurt more than she thought it would.
It was probably just their stupid male hormones telling them that they couldn't lose their masculinity by having a girl save their asses.

On the other side of the doorway, Marcus and Joshua found themselves in a very familiar setting, while Eric himself, did not recognise anything. The doorway that they had stepped through had taken them straight back into the castle that Joshua and Layla had been held captive in.
Marcus hated this place, and he hated the thought of being back here. But he had to stay strong. He couldn't let himself become weak neither physically nor emotionally as now he knew that was their enemies fuel. It would be tough but it was better to bottle it up now and survive, rather than let it all out and be killed on the spot. He also did not want to attract any unwanted attention.
Joshua himself, was trying just as hard not to let his mind creep back to the time spent chained in the little torture chamber. The one thing that kept him going was thinking about the satisfaction of taking revenge on those that had taken him. He found comfort in the thought of causing them worse pain than they had caused him.
Eric on the other hand, had absolutely no trouble adjusting to their surroundings. He had been in the shadow realm before, but never had he been inside the castle. This was completely new to him. He was amused by all the little details they passed while walking down the hall.
The three of them cast glances at each other. Looks of encouragement being exachanged as they ventured further.
Turning the corner, they came across an army of guards. This was it. Time for action. Each one of them all fired up and fuelled by three different motives. Revenge was the first. Peace was the second. Anger being the third.
Each one of them were all fuelled up and ready for the fight. They all had different reasons for being in the fight, but united together to stand a better chance. It was time for them to take action rather than just let the bad things happen to them as they usually did.
