Chapter 128 128

Chapter 128 128
There were shadows under his eyes, and a weariness in his expression that told me just how much the last few days—and the drive back—had taken out of him. He looked like a man who had been fighting a war on the inside while trying to keep everything steady on the outside.
I opened my mouth to say something, to tell him that I loved him too and that he didn't have to carry it all alone, but the words were cut off before I could speak.
"We’re here," Lucas announced from the front seat.

The car slowed, and I realized with a jolt that I hadn't even noticed we had arrived. I looked up and out the window, seeing the familiar, imposing structure of the Silver Fang pack house. We were already pulling into the parking lot, the gravel crunching beneath the tires.

The change in Adrian was immediate. The vulnerability I had just seen vanished, tucked away behind a wall of granite and steel. He snapped back into his protective Alpha mode in an eye-blink. He leaned forward and pressed a quick, firm kiss against my cheek—a gesture of affection, but also a mark of possession and protection.

"Stay with me," he murmured, more of a command than a request.
He stepped out of the car and walked around to my side, his movements sharp and purposeful. When he opened my door and reached in with his hand, I didn't hesitate.

I reached out and took it, using his strength to pull myself out of the vehicle. As my feet hit the ground, I felt my own transformation taking place. The soft, emotional girl who had been crying in the garden and melting in the back seat was gone. My own Luna warrior armor snapped into place, my spine straightening and my expression hardening into a mask of calm authority. I wasn't just his mate; I was a warrior who had earned her place, and I was going to walk into this house with my head held high.

The parking lot and the entrance to the pack house were already crowded. Pack elders stood in a line, their faces etched with a mix of curiosity and respect. Warriors stood at attention, their eyes following our every move. As we walked past them, they bowed—not just to Adrian, but to me.
I kept my gaze fixed straight ahead, my eyes locked on the doors of the pack house. I didn't waver, and I didn't look down. I could feel the weight of their stares, some welcoming and others skeptical, but I didn't let any of it touch me. I was back, but I wasn't the same girl who had left.

Adrian led me through the entrance and toward the main hall, his hand never leaving mine. Everyone followed behind us, a silent procession of wolves moving through the corridors of my old life. The air in the hall was thick with the scent of dozens of pack members, all of them waiting to see what this homecoming really meant.
We reached the center of the hall and came to a stop. Adrian let go of my hand and stepped forward, his presence filling the room. When he spoke, his voice boomed, carrying the full weight of his Alpha command.

"Hear me!" he roared, his voice bouncing off the high ceilings. "I am announcing the return of my mate. She is your Luna, and she has returned to her rightful place."

I waited for the murmur of shock, for the gasps of surprise or the whispers of confusion. But they never came. As I looked around the room, I saw faces that were calm and knowing. No one seemed surprised at all. A realization settled in my gut—had he already told them? Had everyone known this was the plan before I had even agreed to come back? I didn't quite know how to feel about that yet. A part of me felt handled, like a piece on a chessboard, but another part of me was relieved that the path had already been cleared.

I decided right then that I wouldn't let him do all the talking. If I was going to be their Luna, they needed to hear it from me, not just from him.

I stepped up beside him, my voice steady and clear as I addressed the room. "I am your Luna," I said, my words cutting through the silence. "I am Adrian’s mate, and I am here to stay. I am not a guest, and I am not a memory. I will be ruling side by side with your Alpha, and we will lead this pack together."
The silence held for a heartbeat, and then the entire place exploded.

The roar of claps and howls was deafening, a wall of sound that vibrated through the floorboards and into my very bones. Wolves of all levels—warriors, elders, and common pack members—joined in the celebration. The energy in the room shifted from tension to a wild, frantic joy. In the middle of the chaos, I looked over at Adrian. He was watching me, and for the first time since we’d pulled into the lot, the Alpha mask slipped just enough for me to see the pride in his eyes.
I was home. And this time, I wasn't going anywhere.

The celebration eventually began to wind down, the high energy of the pack slowly transitioning into a quiet, respectful hum as people retreated to their own quarters. By the time Adrian finally led me away from the main hall and toward our bedroom, the night had stretched into its final, silent hours. My body felt like it was made of lead, every muscle protesting after the day’s emotional and physical roller coaster.
As we stepped through the door of the master suite, I knew I couldn't just climb into bed.

I had changed into this dress in a hurry, barely stopping to breathe, and the thought of sleeping without washing away the day felt impossible. I needed to rinse off the lingering scent of my old life and the dust of the road before I could truly say I was home.

I went straight to the bathroom, barely giving myself a second to take in my surroundings. I knew Adrian had put an incredible amount of effort into this space.
